Born on Earth on October 1st, 2341,
Edward Joseph Carpathia spent a few years living in The Bronx, New York
before his family moved to Toms River, New Jersey. His father
worked as a lithographer in the private sector while his mother worked
in public education. They lived in New Jersey till his father was
told that the climate he was living in was not healthy for him anymore,
due to a cardiopulmonary condition. In June of 2354, the family
relocated to Southern California where E.J. continued his public
education there, while his father retired and mother worked in a
business owned by her family. When E.J. graduated high school in
June of 2358, he immediately applied to Starfleet Academy. Upon
completing his first year at the academy, E.J. was recruited by Omega
Sector in 2359. From that point on he was an operative. On
March 5th, 2360 E.J. received the tragic news that his father had a
severe heart attack and died in the early morning hours while en route
to the Palmdale Memorial Hospital, in California. While distraught
over his father's death he
completed his academy training and graduated the rank of Ensign in June
of 2362, and then went directly to Omega Sector's Advanced Engineering
Corps facility secluded in the Nevada desert. Upon completion of his education at the Omega Sector facility on Earth in 2364, he graduated and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was assigned to the engineering team that began construction of Omega Base. The new center of operations for Omega Sector. When the base was completed in 2369, E.J. was promoted to Lieutenant, and assigned to the Research & Development division that was located on Omega Base. Where he worked for a few years developing advanced propulsion and weapon systems. In 2371, E.J. was assigned to the USS EXPLORER as the Chief Engineer. After keeping the ship together for countless missions for Omega Sector he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 2375. After the loss of the current ship's Executive Officer, E.J. was promoted by Captain Arayuss to fill the position, and a promotion to Commander followed in early 2377. In late 2377, the EXPLORER was presumed lost when it was investigating a sub-dimensional fissure and was caught in it's gravity well and brought inside. Before the ship entered the entire crew, less it's captain, escaped in shuttles, escape pods and the Aerowing. By remaining behind Captain Arayuss was able to use the tractor beams to push the escaping crafts out of the well to safety. Once EXPLORER entered the fissure the anomaly collapsed and the ship was presumed lost. E.J. using the tractor beam of the Aerowing and the surrounding shuttles was able to create a tractor web and pulled the escape pods from the hostile area to await a rescue inside a nebula that provided cover for the crew of the EXPLORER. After two weeks of surviving the storms in the nebula and avoiding detection by hostile marauders, the crew was rescued by the USS ANTARES (NCC-61820) and taken to Omega Base for debriefing and medical evaluations. E.J. was awarded the Valor Cross and commended for his usage of the tractor web and the recovery of all hands that abandoned EXPLORER. He was then assigned as an instructor in the Advanced Engineering Corps. In late 2378, the EXPLORER unexpectedly appeared on the final approach vector for Omega Base. This was a surprise to many considering the ship was believed lost. After confirmation that it was indeed the missing vessel and that Captain Arayuss was aboard, the ship was allowed to dock. It turned out that the fissure was an opening to a transdimensional void and Captain Arayuss came in contact with another ship stranded in there and assisted in getting the captain of that ship back to his home world, which was in the Andromeda Galaxy. As a show of gratitude the device, used to bring the ship to the alien captain's planet and saving his son's life, was modified to remain as a functioning device integrated in EXPLORER's Main Engineering. The device was then used to bring the ship back to the Alpha Quadrant in our galaxy in a matter of weeks. Making it the fastest journey ever recorded between the two galaxies, and EXPLORER to have been the only Federation ship to have been to the Andromeda Galaxy. E.J. continued as an instructor till he was contacted by Rear Admiral Arayuss in 2380, regarding the command of EXPLORER's sister ship, INFINITI. E.J. was extremely excited and boarded the first ship heading for Starbase 34, in the Gamma Quadrant. Rear Admiral Arayuss brought the INFINITI after it was constructed to the Starbase when he was assigned to the Gamma Fleet as their Judge Advocate General. Apparently, Rear Admiral Arayuss had taken it so it would be waiting for E.J. when he arrived. The INFINITI has now been launched from Starbase 34, and the adventure continues...
