Aeryck looked up from his desk to see eye to eye with Rex before he exited his office. He wanted to make sure the General fully understood what he had to say.

Adm Arayuss: Explorer has never failed me yet, General. I have no reason to believe he will start failing me now. You'll have your data.

The CinC watched the General as he exited the office and then Aeryck sealed the door and sent a message to Explorer on an encoded channel to deliver the data from the Deltauran encounter in Sector Omicron, immediately.

The Ensign peeked inside the Admiral's office to see if he was busy. He didn't want to disturb the CinC while he was working. Jansen saw that he was just looking at images on his monitor, so he entered.

Ens Panettiere: Hello Admiral. I hope I'm not bothering you.

Jansen stood in the doorway to the CinC's office, hoping for a chance to speak to him directly about the things on his mind.

The Admiral looked away from his display screen and over to the Ensign standing in his doorway. Aeryck smiled as he nodded and waved the boy into his office.

Adm Arayuss: Come in and have a seat, Ensign. What's on your mind?

The CinC turned off his screen so that he could focus completely on what could've brought Ensign Panettiere to his office. It was very uncommon for an officer of Jansen's rank and position to side step his entire chain of command by going straight to the Commander in Chief of Gamma Fleet.

Jansen took the seat in front of the CinC's desk and straightened his uniform as he sat back in the chair. The Ensign wasn't too nervous since Commodore Carpathia had introduced him to the Admiral after their first mission.

Ens Panettiere: Admiral, I've been thinking about what could happen if the Deltaurans get on Starbase 34 and I'm really scared about it. They would be able to create a whole lot more of themselves and overrun the entire base. I think that maybe we should evacuate all non-essential personnel from Starbase 34 and send them back through the wormhole where they would be safe from the Deltaurans. I saw what happened to the people who became those fleshpods and it was horrible. I don't want to see that happen to any of the people living here.

The Ensign sat there in the chair silently waiting for the Admiral to speak. Jansen hoped he didn't anger the CinC by making the suggestion. It was just that he was terrified of what could happen to the population of SB34.

The Admiral took a long, serious look at the young Ensign. He was impressed with Jansen's ability to put his personal safety aside and just focus on the civilian population of Starbase 34.

Adm Arayuss: That's a good idea, Ensign. I'll check into that option. Right now General Alderez is with Professor Brewer in the Specialized Science Laboratories looking into a defense against the Deltaurans. That way we may not even need to evacuate the base.

An audible tone came from his Combadge, causing the Admiral to tap and listen to the message that came over it's audio.

Explorer-Com: I am ready to transmit all data collected on the Deltauran Encounter.

Adm Arayuss: Excellent, I knew you wouldn't let me down. Begin transmission.

Aeryck placed an isolinear chip into the data slot of his desk and waited for the transmission to complete. After a few moments...

Explorer-Com: Transmission complete, Admiral.

Adm Arayuss: Thank you, Explorer. Stick around, your assistance may be needed again.

Explorer-Com: Understood, Sir.

The CinC focused his attention back to the Ensign seated across from him. Aeryck removed the isolinear chip from the data slot and placed it on the desk between himself and Ensign Panettiere.

Adm Arayuss: If you wouldn't mind, Ensign, can you please hand deliver this chip to General Alderez? He is expecting this data.

As the Admiral waited on Jansen's reply, he sent a quick message to the lab where Professor Brewer was with Rex and let them know Ensign Panettiere would be arriving shortly with the information they were waiting on.

Jansen stood immediately and reached for the datachip on the Admiral's desk. He was honored that the Commander in Chief of Gamma Fleet trusted him with such important data.

Ens Panettiere: Absolutely, Sir! I'll take it to Professor Brewer right now!

The Ensign closed his hand around the chip and ran from the Admiral's office to the closest Turbolift he could find. Once inside, he told the lift to take him to the Specialized Science Laboratories, where the Professor did his research on the Deltaurans.

The Admiral smiled at the exuberance of Ensign Panettiere's reaction to take the chip to the Professor. Aeryck had a feeling Jansen would be all too willing to take on the task. That was why he sent the message to the lab before Jansen even responded. As the CinC was sitting at his desk, the voice from his secretary could be heard from outside his open doorway.

Lt. Goldbeck: Hey Admiral, a transmission from the SFMC just came through, do you want me to send it over to your terminal?

Adm Arayuss: Sure, thanks Lieutenant.

Aeryck read the transmission and was pleased to see that the promotion he recommended for General Alderez had been approved. He quickly went through the drawers of his desk looking for the rank insignias for a Major General. After a few minutes of frustration, Aeryck found the insignias he was looking for and placed them in his pocket. He wanted to bring them to Rex himself, seeing that it was his recommendation for a promotion.

Adm Arayuss: Hey Vicky, I'm going down to the Specialized Science Labs for a little while. If anything important comes up let me know. Also, if you happen to see Ensign Russ, let her know I have more things for her to read.

Lt. Goldbeck: Alright Admiral, consider it done.

Aeryck walked out of his office and down the corridor to the Turbolift and stepped inside. He couldn't wait to see Rex's reaction to the promotion. The Admiral really felt that Rex deserved one after all the help he gave on Explorer to save Infiniti from the Deltauran infestation. Had he not, they would've completely taken the vessel over and Commodore Carpathia would have gone with his plan to self-destruct his ship. A decision starship commanders hope they never have to make during their entire career.
