Entrance to Main Engineering - Deck 16  Reply with quote

The General was pleased to see the remainder of the Marines finally made it to the entrance to Main Engineering. Now it was finally time to rid them from Oriskany so the crew could return and begin the necessary repairs.

MGen Alderez: Alright, now that we're all here, this is how we're going to proceed. When Lieutenant Graham opens the door, I want everyone to select a target and start firing. I want you to keep firing until there isn't a single one of those things left inside there. If you see any escaping into their gateway home, fire into the entrance to make sure they keep their numbers down. The more of them we obliterate here, the less we'll have to deal with down the line. Do you get me, Marines?!?

Listening to the chorus from the Marines yelling We get you, Sir! made the General proud inside. He knew they were ready to clean Oriskany from her intruders. Rex nodded to Peter, signaling him to open the isolation door to Main Engineering.

Peter Graham readied himself, rifle at the ready and pressed a few buttons on the panel at the door, which slid open.

Immediately Peter and the Marines fired in the room which was filled with creatures. Deltaurans where obliterated left, right and center. Those that noticed the effect of the weapons and tried to flee had no chance as they too where hit soon enough.

With most of the creatures gone and the intervals between shots decreasing, Peter advanced in the room, taking cover behind a control panel. The Chief Security Officer continued to fire at the few remaining Deltaurans while he waited for the other Marines to advance as well.

As the Marines continued obliterating every Deltauran they could find in Engineering, an overwhelming sense of victory could be seen in the faces of everyone in there. Those damned creatures were on the run now, and they couldn't do anything to stop their ugly asses from being destroyed.

GSgt Arbor: I can't tell you how good this feels General! But I can certainly tell you that I like it! Yeah, I really like it!

The Sergeant continued to destroy every Deltauran he could find. The entire Marine unit was in Engineering do the same thing he was. Killing these horrible things that took the lives of Oriskany's crew.

Peter Graham was thinking of sandy beaches on the Holodeck. A cool drink with a funny straw in one hand. Friends all around having a good time.

Abruptly his vision was ended as a large Deltauran leapt towards the Chief Security Officer. Peter lifted the rifle he had been leaning on and obliterated the creature in a nanosecond. A sense of silence suddenly fell over the room. Could this be the end? Did we just witness genocide? Peter thought. He then broke the silence by speaking up.

Lt. Graham: I think that was the last of them.

Peter straightened his uniform and stood up properly while waiting for any of the Marines to confirm his theory.

He took out a Tricorder to scan the gateway that was beginning to open. The sound of ruptured subspace was quite loud at the entrance. With a loud voice Peter tried to overcome the noise.

Lt. Graham: General! I think this is the gateway they have been working on in here. They are using our Warp Core to somehow boost it, it is huge and getting bigger! I am detecting something large on the other side and by the looks of things it is about to open! We dont have long, I suggest remodulating our rifles to a point four variance in order to close it!

The Lieutenant continued scanning with his Tricorder as he waited on the General's response.

Rex took a quick survey of the area and saw that there were no Deltaurans anywhere in Engineering. Before he could give the command for them all to set their rifles to the setting suggested by Lt. Graham, the gateway vanished before their eyes. He tapped his Combadge to inform Infiniti of the status.

MGen Alderez: Alderez to Infiniti. All Deltaurans aboard Oriskany appear to be annihilated. Also...their gateway has just vanished. Check your scans to verify, and if it's so, let Captain Reich know his ship is clean, that he might want to head back over here and get his crew working on repairs.

The General looked around and saw all of the pleased faces of the Marines that stood with him. He could tell they were looking forward to cleaning Whitestar out next. But what to do with Lt. Graham...

MGen Alderez: Lieutenant, if Infiniti gives us the all clear, we're heading over to Whitestar to clean the Deltaurans off of it. You're welcome to join us, or you could wait here for your Captain to arrive. The choice is yours.

Rex waited on word back from Infiniti as well as what Lt. Graham planned to do. If he was going to wait here for Capt Reich, then MGen Alderez and the Marines would leave Oriskany in the Lieutenant's hands until Reich returned. If he wanted to join the Marines, they would be heading back to the Shuttlebay to take the ISSCV over to Whitestar and start cleaning it out of the Deltauran infestation.

Peter Gaham was both surprised and relieved to see the gateway gone and put the Tricorder back were it came from.

Lt. Graham: Thank you General, I must say you have done a good job here which I'm sure you will manage to do again on the Whitestar. I will not be joining you, however, as I feel my duties are with this ship and the security of the Captain when he gets here. I am after all the Chief Security Officer over here, unless ordered somewhere else. I wouldn't think I was doing my job properly if I let my ship unmanned and adrift.

Peter readied himself to say goodbye, smiled briefly and thought whether it would be appropriate to shake hands. He decided to leave it up to the General and the other Marines and prepared a mental list of things to do onboard the empty ship.

The General smiled and shook the Lieutenant's hand firmly as they exchanged their farewells.

MGen Alderez: It's been an honor, Lieutentant. Perhaps someday our paths will cross again under better circumstances. Till then, I wish you the best on your endeavors.

Rex turned to the Marines and called out.

MGen Alderez: MARINES! Back to the ISSCV! We've got another ship to clean out before we can return to Infiniti, so let's get a move on!

The General watched as the Marines filed out of Main Engineering, leaving him alone with Lt. Graham before he himself exited and made his way back back to the Shuttlebay and into the ISSCV.

As soon as the General and the Marines left, Peter followed the short list of things to do in his mind. First he checked the Warp Core to make sure basic operations were possible and ran a quick but thorough diagnostic of the ship. He noticed that the ship was in a bad shape, Deck 5 was almost completely gone and the rest of it was not in a much better condition. But what was left of it was still operable and Peter Graham made his way up to the Bridge to ensure that Deck 1 was working reasonably well too.

The Bridge was not in good shape. Several consoles had blown up but Peter could see through the superficial damage. The Chief of Security was amazed at the ships design. Even though the other ships were fine the way they were, somehow Peter felt right at home. He managed to find Tactical, his station, buried under an overhead panel. He was happy to see it still working. There was no way Peter could man the ship alone so he left most Bridge and ship functions on automatic and waited on the incoming message of the arrival of the Captain and the crew.

Secondary Shuttlebay - Deck 22  Reply with quote

Rex situated himself within the ISSCV as soon as they all got inside. It wouldn't take them very long to cross the distance over to Whitestar, and the General was looking forward to a short ride. When Rex saw that everyone was in their seats within the APC section, he called up to the cockpit.

MGen Alderez: Segeant Ferro, we're ready back here when you are. Take us over to Whitestar.

Tapping his Combadge, he called out to Lt. Graham.

MGen Alderez: Alderez to Graham. We're on our way out, so the ship is yours till you're relieved. Alderez out.

Colette looked over the consoles and everything was in the green, so she remotely opened the doors to the Shuttlebay and lifted the ISSCV off the deck and out into the vastness of space. From the cockpit windows, she could all of the Escape Pods and Shuttles from Oriskany making their way towards back to their vessel. Manuevering around them, Sgt. Ferro set a quick course towards USS Whitestar.

Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

Per the XO's instructions, the Transporter Chief aboard Infiniti beamed him directly to the Bridge of Oriskany, which was not in the condition they left it. It really looked like it took a beating from those nasty creatures after the crew abandoned ship. James immediately noticed there was a Lieutenant aboard that he hadn't seen before.

Cmdr Kee: I'm Commander James Kee, Oriskany's Executive Officer. Who might you be, Lieutenant?

As James waited on a reply, he wondered how long it would be before other members of the crew found their way back aboard. It was going to take a while to get all the Escape Pods loaded back in their bays along the hull, and he didn't look forward to that task, which is why it was best suited for their Ops Officer when he made his way aboard.
