Captain's Yacht  Reply with quote

Michaelangelo materialized within the cabin of the Captain's Yacht and pretty much knew he was the only one there. This was finally his time to pilot the Yacht as the Captain promised. He quickly sat himself down in the pilot's seat and brought the thrusters online and began making his way back to Oriskany. As the large vessel grew within the cockpit windows, he tapped the Companel to alert whoever was aboard that the Yacht was coming home.

Lt. Boffi: This is Lieutenant Boffi aboard the Captain's Yacht calling Oriskany Bridge, I'm on final approach and I'm requesting permission to dock...if you would be so kind.

Mike just had to add the last part to his message. He couldn't help it, it was the smartass in him that just didn't know when to shut his mouth. But he was happy to get back to work and couldn't wait to be back at his station on the Bridge. As the Lieutenant rotated the Yacht and hovered below the docking port on the bottom of the saucer section, Mike noticed all of the Escape Pods making their way back towards Oriskany. I'd hate to be the one to have to coordinate the docking of all of those things! Michael thought to himself.

Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

Being the Chief Security Officer, Peter Graham tracked the transport of the Commander to the Bridge. However he did not know who it was that was being transported and jumped to attention as soon as he saw his rank. Lt. Graham was about to answer the question of Cmdr Kee, but was interrupted by the incoming message from Lt. Boffi. He decided to answer both requests with one answer and opened a channel to the Yacht.

Lt. Graham: This is Lieutenant Peter Graham, your new Chief of Security on board the USS Oriskany. You are clear to dock Lieutenant Boffi.

Peter gave a brief smile and nod to the Commander in the hope that this answered his question sufficiently.

The XO smiled and extended his hand to the Chief Tac/Sec Officer. They didn't get to meet while they were aboard Infiniti so there was no time like the present.

Cmdr Kee: Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Lieutenant Graham. As you can see, Oriskany has been through a lot and you've got your job cut out for you, as I can see by the fact that you're already here. You must have joined General Alderez over with the Marines. That had to be interesting.

James didn't mind making small talk with the Lieutenant. There wasn't much else to do till more crew arrived and since Lt. Boffi would be up here soon, he could start on coordinating the retrieval of all the Escape Pods.

Peter Graham relaxed a little by the informal approach of the XO. He took the extended hand and shook it with a firm grip.

Lt. Graham: Yes it sure was Commander, my first day at work and already a ship full of intruders. You sure know how to make a Security Officer feel needed.

Peter paused a second wondering whether to add his feelings of discomfort with Marines leading an operation but decided to cut it short and change topics

Lt. Graham: General Alderez is a fine Marine, as are the rest of them by the way. Any news on our mission, Sir?

The Chief Tac/Sec Officer waited patiently on the XO's response.

The XO smiled and could sense the carefully worded statement in regard to what the Lieutenant said about the Marines. James was glad they were around, but often wondered what they would do in a delicate situation where violence wasn't the key. Now he just had to break the news to Peter that they wouldn't be heading for home just yet.

Cmdr Kee: Well, Admiral Arayuss and Commodore Carpathia have set a mission ahead of us that...all three vessels will be entering the Deltauran's dimension for the sole purpose of exterminating their entire race since they've been classified as a hazard to our galaxy.

James was curious to see how Lt. Graham was going to be taking the news of where they were heading after repairs were complete. The XO himself was not overly thrilled that Oriskany was joining the mission, but knew it had to be done. Having seen what the beasts could do, there was no way to avoid the encounter.

Peter Graham was somewhat taken aback by the news.

Lt. Graham: Call me old school Commander, but genocide startles me a little bit. I know they are vicious creatures as I've seen from what they've done to the ship but to wipe out an entire race. Just does not seem to fit the Starfleet way of life. But I suppose we have our orders and I assume everything possible has been done to find a different solution.

Peter pressed a few buttons on the panel to check on the progress of crew transfer back to the Oriskany. He wondered what was taking everyone so long. Maybe they heard the news about facing the Deltaurans too and had their own doubts about it. Peter was keen to find out how his colleagues where like.

Lt. Graham: So what's it like to work on this ship? If I am to work together with people I just met, I'd better get acquainted with the crew fast.

The Tac/Sec Officer continued to monitor for the returning officers and crew aboard Oriskany, as he waited on the XO's reply.

The XO thought about what the Lieutenant had said about genocide and couldn't disagree more. If the Deltaurans were left alone, they would eventually find a way to open one of their gateways on a planet with a population that would have no defense against them. Then their numbers would grow to an unstoppable amount and it would only be a matter of time before the entire galaxy was filled with dead worlds.

Cmdr Kee: Lieutenant, the only way to stop them is to destroy them. In my opinion they're worse than the Borg. These things use our bodies as eggs for their own procreation. Each person is nothing more than a potential fleshpod for a new one of them to burst from. Didn't you see the empty fleshpods of the crewmembers that didn't make it out of here? The Deltaurans don't discriminate by sex or age, they'll use anyone. All of those abandoned vessels we found out here and filled with the fleshpods of their crews and passengers. We found only one survivor, and that was a young boy that managed to hide inside a compartment.

The conversation started the XO pacing on the Bridge as he continued...

Cmdr Kee: As for the crew of Oriskany that survived, they've lost crewmates to the Deltaurans and they're going to have the same feeling about destroying them as I do. So if you feel the Deltauran's fate is a bit too harsh, you may want to keep it to yourself. They've all got friends and family back on Starbase 34 and all it will take is one of those damn things to make it on there and the entire population will be at risk of extinction. Those new rifles Admiral Arayuss and General Alderez came out here with saved all of our lives.

James was getting a little ansy for Lt. Boffi to finish docking the Yacht and come up to the Bridge already, he wasn't as comfortable being alone up here with Graham as he was before he found out that Peter was a Deltauran sympathizer! Obviously this guy didn't lose anybody close to him, or watched a humanoid body burst open with a new Deltauran ready to kill and create new fleshpods from the people around it.

Captain's Yacht  Reply with quote

Mike manuevered the Yacht below the saucer section and gradually moved it up until the docking clamps latched on and brought it up the rest of the way until there was a pressurized lock around the upper section of the Yacht. Docking of the Captain's Yacht was complete. The Lieutenant made his way through the corridors to find a working Turbo Lift and took it up to the Bridge. Upon his arrival, he saw Cmdr Kee pacing and Lt. Graham standing at the Tac/Sec Station.

Lt. Boffi: Hello Commander, Lieutenant. I hope my station isn't in need of any repairs because judging by all of the Shuttles and Pods coming this way, I'm going to be busy for a while.

The Ops Officer made his way over to his station and saw that it wasn't in need of any repairs, so he began coordinating the return of the Shuttles and Escape Pods to their proper locations throughout Oriskany. Mike knew the Captain would be aboard soon and would not appreciate a disorganized return.

Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

James regained his composure and greeted Lt. Boffi when he arrived on the Bridge. He was glad the Ops Officer already knew the task that was heading his way.

Cmdr Kee: It's good to see you, Lieutenant. I don't know when the Captain will be here, but it's best we get the repair crews to work as soon as they arrive. We want the ship ready to go when Admiral Arayuss gives the word.

The XO began cleaning up the Bridge as best he could until members of repair crew arrived to assist him. The Bridge wasn't too badly damaged so James knew it wouldn't take too long to get it back to full restoration.

Michael continued the coordination of the returning members of Oriskany's crew with vigilance when he saw something that utterly confused him. An Intrepid Class vessel just appeared alongside Infiniti, right out of empty space. The Lieutenant was completely overwhelmed by what he saw and scanned the vessel for identification. According to the vessel's transponder it was the USS Explorer NCC-74659.

Lt. Boffi: Commander, the USS Explorer has just appeared alongside Infiniti. It didn't Warp in or approach on Impulse power. It just suddenly appeared out of nothing. As if it decloaked, but there's nothing in the spectrum to show that a cloaking device was used.

The Ops Officer hoped the XO would have some insight on how another Federation vessel could just appear out there in space with them, with no signed of how it arrived. What became even more interesting was the fact that sensors didn't indicate any lifesigns aboard.
