Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

As soon as the Away Team was clear of the child, Michaelangelo accessed the Transporter controls and beamed the child directly to Sickbay. As soon as the transportation process was complete, he called down to the ship's medical center to make sure they knew she was there.

Lt. Commander Boffi: Bridge to Sickbay, you should have her now.

The Chief Ops Officer waited to here a confirmation from one of the Medical Officers down in Sickbay and when he did, he smiled to himself that it was another job well done. Michaelangelo continued to monitor the progress of the Away Team, as well as keeping the communications channel open between them and the Sutherland.

Sickbay - Deck 12  Reply with quote

As Lou, the Yeoman and Mr. Windsor were waiting beside a Biobed, the child the Away Team found on the SS Oruga materialized before their very eyes in the middle of Sickbay. Looking a little tired and suffering from some malnutrition, the young girl looked around her wondering where she was now...

Dorothy Ramsey: Where am I?

Capt Marino: According to your ship's manifest, you must be Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey. I'm Captain Marino, the one in charge of the group that found you. You are aboard the USS Sutherland, in our Sickbay.

The Captain looked over towards Lt. Panettiere and continued speaking.

Capt Marino: Yeoman, please make sure Tootie gets some rest and see what she would like to eat. Whether it be from the Replicator or the Ten-Forward Lounge.

Lou looked at Alexander next...

Capt Marino: Mr. Windsor, if I recall, you two are close in age. Maybe you can find out more about her and explain your situation. Find out if she knows any others on the SS Oruga and if so, are there any more survivors. When she gets rest and strength built up, see what she likes to do, maybe you can introduce her to the Holodecks.

As the Captain waited on his young Yeoman and the even younger, Alexander to do as he ordered, he watched as the Med-Tech staff put the girl on a Biobed and gave her a sedative to help her sleep as they ran an entire battery of medical exams. Lou knew Tootie was in good hands and stayed out of the way, along with Jansen and Alexander, as the Medical Staff did their jobs.

While Tootie was looking around Sickbay and Capt Marino told her where she was, Alex was somewhat hiding behind Lt. Panettiere. He was very aware of who she was, and how she would react when she saw him. The boy finally relaxed when the female child was sedated by the Med-Tech personnel.

Alexander Windsor: I know who Tootie is, Captain. She's got a crush on me and was making me miserable which was why my parents and I transferred over to the Mariposa. My mother thought it was the cutest thing, but my father understood and made the arrangements for the transfer from the Oruga so I can have some peace. Tootie would constantly pop up and demand that I love her back or she would tell her parents I touched her inappropriately. She's a nightmare on hover-skates, Sir. At least she was to me. Her parents are Ervin and Laverne Ramsey, the Helmsman and Navigator of the Oruga. I really don't want to be around her, Captain.

Alex hoped that helped Capt Marino understand more about horror that was Tootie Ramsey. He really didn't want to be around her, but if the Captain really needed him to pump her for information, he would endure the suffrage to complete his assigned task. Alex wondered to himself, of all the people to run into out here in Sector Epsilon, why did it have to be her!

Lou nodded in an understanding manner to the young lad. He was certainly not going to force Alex to be around somebody who took it upon themselves to make the boy miserable. The Captain placed a hand on Mr. Windsor's shoulder and told him how he felt.

Capt Marino: Alex, I understand if you don't want to be near her, I truly do. If you don't want to attend to her needs, that's fine. I will not hold it against you. Return to your duties here on the ship, if I need you we will call.

The CO smiled as he watched Alex rapidly exit Sickbay to return to what he was doing in Counselor Elbrun's office on Deck 13. There was no way the Captain was going to allow such an upstanding person on his Senior Staff be subjected to the horrors of a girl with such tyrannical tendencies. It was just something that was NOT going to happen as long as he was in command.

SS Oruga - Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

Now that the youngling had beamed over to the safety of Sutherland, Kestra used her ability to see if she could sense the mind of anyone else on the SS Oruga. The Counselor no longer sensed anyone else in the Bridge area or on this deck for that matter. She expanded her empathic search parameter to include the rest of the vessel, including the cargo holds. After a few moments, Kestra gave her report to Cmdr Kee.

Lt. Commander Elbrun: I'm not sensing anyone else, Commander. This vessel is clean, Sir.

As Kestra waited for the XO's next order, she looked over at Dr. Jovic, LtCmdr Joffee and LtCmdr D'Shoua as they too were waiting for Cmdr Kee's next command. Since there was nothing but Flesh Pods here on the Bridge, she couldn't see a reason to remain. Perhaps going to the cargo holds to make sure what they were carrying was still aboard was their next move.

Hearing Kestra's report, James was relieved to hear there were no other survivors hiding on the ship in need of their assistance. Being around the Flesh Pods on the Bridge was giving the XO unsettling thoughts. He accessed his PADD to bring up the cargo manifest.

Cmdr Kee: Alright Counselor, let's make our way to the cargo holds. We'll make sure nothing has been stolen during the time this vessel has been abandoned. If everything is accounted for we can report to Captain Marino that Oruga is secured and ready to be towed back to Starbase 34.

The Commander lead the way to the cargo hold with LtCmdr D'Shoua at his side with their rifles at the ready. They were not going to let any straggling Deltaurans get the drop on them. With the Chief Science Officer directly behind them, LtCmdr Joffee was using his Tricorder with it's scanner set to detect anything from the Deltauran Realm. Bringing up the rear was Dr. Jovic and Counselor Elbrun, walking cautiously behind James, Jared and Michael.

Together they made their way to the cargo holds, without incident, and began surveying their contents. After a short while they discovered everything on the manifest was accounted for. There was nothing missing from Oruga's cargo holds, so the XO tapped his Combadge to contact Sutherland to give his report.

Cmdr Kee: Away Team to Sutherland! Everything on the Oruga's cargo manifest has been accounted for. Ready for beam out.

The XO and the rest of the Away Team took their positions in the cargo hold and awaited Sutherland to beam them back aboard. James smiled at the other members of the team, hoping they would be back on their ship...very soon. There were a few Flesh Pods in the cargo hold along with them, and the XO preferred to be away from those things in the extremely near future.

When Michaelangelo heard Cmdr Kee's message, he forwarded it down to Capt Marino in Sickbay so he could respond to the XO directly. When the CO gave the word, he would activate the Transporter Beam and bring them back aboard Sutherland.

Lt. Commander Boffi: Bridge to Captain Marino. Incoming message from Commander Kee...

The Chief Ops Officer waited on his next orders from the Captain. While doing so, LtCmdr Boffi continued scanning the Zathura System to see if the tow ships had arrived yet. Since there were still no sign of them, he had nothing to report to the Captain regarding their arrival.

As Lou was about to leave Lt. Panettiere to watch over Tootie and return to the Bridge, he heard the forwarded message from Cmdr Kee aboard the SS Oruga from his Combadge. The Captain gave his order to LtCmdr Boffi to bring the Away Team back to the ship.

Capt Marino: Mr. Boffi, lock on to the the Away Team and bring them back to the Sutherland.

The CO left Sickbay and went to the nearby Turbolift and took it to Deck 6 and walked into Transporter Room 1 where he waited for the Away Team to return.

As the Away Team materialized aboard Sutherland, James saw that Capt Marino was standing there waiting to hear a report from the XO in person. Once the materialization process was complete, the Commander stepped off the platform and walked over to the Captain to give his report.

Cmdr Kee: Hello Captain, other than finding the young girl aboard, we didn't find anyone else. The Counselor used her empathic abilities to search for anymore thoughts and found nobody else. We checked all the cargo holds against the cargo manifest and everything is accounted for. The ship has many of those Flesh Pods you may have read about in the Deltauran reports. The odor there was pretty bad too.

With the report given to Capt Marino, the XO waited on any further orders the Captain had for them. The SS Oruga was ready for a tow ship to take it back to SB34 now that it was cleared of its survivor. There wouldn't be a reason to send an Away Team back over there. James was curious to know how Tootie was doing in Sickbay. The XO figured he would ask about her condition after Capt Marino laid down his new orders, if the time permitted...

Lou was happy to see the Away Team arrive safely on the Transporter Pads. After Cmdr Kee gave his report, the Captain responded to his XO.

Capt Marino: Thank you for a suspenseful away mission, Commander. Tootie is resting in Sickbay. Sleeping, when I last left her under the Yeoman's supervision.

The Captain tapped his Combadge and called up to the Bridge next.

Capt Marino: Mr. Boffi, what is the ETA of the tow ships? Please let them know the SS Oruga is ready for towing when they arrive...and Mr Boffi, are there an more unregistered ships in area.

The CO remained in Transporter Room 1 as he waited to hear back from LtCmdr Boffi. Lou was curious to know whether there was anymore unregistered ships among the abandoned vessels they were patrolling. If there was, they would have to take swift action against them by having the Wildcards intercept them before they could steal any of the cargo of the civilian Federation ships.
