Bridge - Deck 1

The Acting XO/Chief Ops Officer used the console he was seated at and locked onto the Captain's Combadge. Even though Capt Marino was no longer alive, Michaelangelo was able to lock onto the rest of the Captain's body and using the internal sensors on Deck 12, he detected the location of the receptacle in Sickbay that was prepared for Capt Marino's remains. Once the two items were locked into the Transporter system, LtCmdr Boffi energized the beam and transported the Captain's body into the stasis chamber in Sickbay. Just to be sure, Michaelangelo called down to Jansen on Deck 12's Morgue area.
Lt. Commander Boffi:
Bridge to Yeoman Panettiere! Did the Captain arrive in the stasis chamber unscathed? I've never had to use the Transporter to beam somebody so large into a stasis chamber before, let alone a dead one. So please report his status.
Michaelangelo waited to hear back from Lt. Panettiere down in the Morgue area of Sickbay, where the Acting XO/Chief Ops Officer had just beamed the body of Capt Marino. If all went well, LtCmdr Boffi would be relieved that his task was complete and he could continue to monitor the tow ships retrieval of all the abandoned vessels in the Zathura System. It was surely a less daunting task, than the one Michaelangelo hopefully completed successfully. _________________

Captain's Quarters - Deck 2

James thought for a moment before responding and figured they could question the sleeping child after they watched the broadcast from SB34. The Acting CO responded to LtCmdr Boffi while looking at Dr. Jovic as he spoke.
Cmdr Kee:
Mr. Boffi, prepare to receive the live stream transmission and make it available for everyone to see. Dr. Jovic and I will are on our way to the Bridge now. We'll question the child a little later, in the meantime she can stay asleep.
As the Commander headed for the door, he instructed the Doctor to accompany him to the Bridge.
Cmdr Kee:
Come along, Doctor. I'm sure she'll be sleeping when we get back and we'll bring the Counselor with us. Don't worry, we'll find out what that girl knows about Captain Marino's death.
Together they exited the Captain's Quarters and went to the Turbolift, taking it to the Bridge. It was a quick ride since they only had to go up one deck, so when they arrived on Deck 1 they walked out onto the Bridge. James sat in the Captain's Chair and motioned for Dr. Jovic to sit in the XO's chair to his right. The Bridge crew, as well as the rest of the ship, waited on the broadcast to begin. _________________

The Acting CO watched intently as the live broadcast from the Bridge of the USS Whitestar began. James remembered how they lost Capt Harris early in Oriskany's first mission, then followed by Capt Reich in a bed in the ICU aboard SB34. Now, on top of being here to remember the life of Capt Adonis, he had to let Adm Arayuss know that Capt Marino had died. The Commander figured he would wait until the service ended before alerting the CinC that Capt Marino lost his life choking on a mass of marshmallows.
Cmdr Kee:
Here we go everybody...
Together they watched as Como Carpathia spoke about his friendship with Capt Adonis and how the loss of his close friend was upsetting him as he spoke. Near the end of his address to everyone his grief was becoming hard for the Commodore to conceal and he turned to Adm Arayuss for some support.
The Admiral arose and took over speaking kind words of the fallen Captain and how he was to be cremated so his ashes could be contained in an urn and placed on a shelf in the Main Lounge aboard Whitestar. The CinC then indicated for members of the Captain's Senior Staff to stand up and come to the center of the Bridge and speak about their fallen CO.
Cmdr Ashborn was first who mentioned how he wasn't pleased with the transfer from Oriskany but grew to respect Capt Adonis and appreciate his sense of humor. Next was Cmdr Skonch, their Vulcan Science Officer who served with the Captain since they launched from SB34. Mr. Skonch mentioned the amount of respect he had for Capt Adonis and how he knew the Captain would be missed. Following the Science Officer was Dr. Brewer, who told how he held Capt Adonis in high regard for the way the Captain always showed compassion for the sick and injured aboard his vessel, how he always made sure they had the most up to date facilities in their Sickbay.
James was sure more officers were going to speak at the memorial, so he remained attentive to the broadcast. The Acting CO knew when more of the guests of the memorial spoke, his XO LtCmdr Boffi would be able to log what was being said as well. _________________

Michaelangelo watched the viewscreen intently as they continued to speak about Capt Adonis. After Dr. Brewer came Counselor Ho whose charm and grace filled the screen and she spoke about her fallen Captain. The Acting XO could see the pain in her eyes as she spoke. Next came Capt Calzada, of USS Oriskany, who brought up how he'd known Capt Adonis when he was quite young and the memories he had with both Como Carpathia and the Captain. Following Capt Calzada came Cmdr Delgado, of USS Infiniti, who mentioned how they first met and the conversations they had together. After Infiniti's XO came Lt. Florenté, Infiniti's Chief Flight Control Officer. He mentioned the Commodore's legendary dinner parties where the Lieutenant had met him and enjoyed his topics of discussion. These dinners with Como Carpathia were thoroughly mentioned by both MGen Alderez and RAdm Martinelli as well. LtCmdr Boffi had attended these festive dinners with the Commodore and knew Capt Adonis from there also. Michaelangelo rose from his station on Sutherland's Bridge and spoke aloud about his memories of Capt Adonis.
Lt. Commander Boffi:
If you all don't mind, I'd like to share that I only knew Captain Adonis through Commodore Carpathia. I too, met them when I was young. It was at their place in the Los Angeles area where I met them at a local cineplex. They were both very funny guys and I knew I wanted to hang around them. I was convinced that Starfleet was the place for me and quickly signed up for the Academy in the field of Starship Operations. I was hoping to be assigned to either Infiniti or Whitestar, but I ended up on Oriskany. I was disappointed at first, but quickly learned just how exciting life could be on a Sovereign Class Starship. I enjoyed my dinners with them here on Starbase 34 and I made a lot of good friends along the way. I for one, will make an effort to toast the Captain in the Main Lounge aboard Whitestar as soon as the opportunity arises.
The Acting XO took his seat back at his station and looked over at Lt. Thomas, the Chief Flight Control Officer of Whitestar and who was present when Capt Adonis passed away on the Bridge of his ship. It was the way most CO's wanted to go if it was for them whom the bell tolled. _________________
