Marine Detachment Commander's Office - Deck 3  Reply with quote

As Chris entered his office on Deck 3, after changing into his duty uniform, he heard the announcement from Cmdr Cypher. Taking a quick survey of all the weapons in the lockers and making sure his fellow Marines were all accounted for, he tapped his Combadge and alerted the Bridge.

MCpt Lopez: Lopez to Commander Cypher! All weapons are accounted for and the Marine Detachment is standing by, Sir.

The Marine Captain took a seat behind his desk and went over the duty roster for the Marines under his command. Making sure they were all up to par and their weapon training skills were in the top percentile range. Chris knew he and his squad was representing Infiniti, so he was making sure they were giving an excellent performance for this mission. MCpt Lopez had a lot of pride in his ship and his Marines, so he wanted to impress Capt Little with their efficiency.

Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

Walking out onto the Bridge in his duty uniform, Peter took his position at the Sec/Tac Station and logged into the console. LtCmdr Graham heard Cmdr Cypher's announcement in the Turbolift on his way to the Bridge, so he ran a quick diagnostics of his station and reported the results to the XO when Peter had them.

Lt. Commander Graham: All Security and Tactical systems are available and standing by, Commander. Cloaking device is functioning perfectly. No problems to report at this time.

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer kept a close watch making sure there were no threats in the area as they continued swiftly to their destination, Sector Omicron. Peter was quite unsure about this mission and wondered if it would've been more prudent to send a cloaked probe to the Alternate Universe to observe the possible threat that was allegedly forming against the Federation from that side. This didn't mean LtCmdr Graham wasn't ready for whatever Capt Little ordered him to do. Peter was just concerned for the lives of everyone aboard.

Thom was quite pleased with the efficiency of the Senior Officers and their response times. He was also thrilled with the results of their reports. The XO thanked them all for their promptness, while keeping the Com System open to PO3 Florenté in Engineering, Dr. Tudismaque in Sickbay and MCpt Lopez in the Marine Detachment Center.

Cmdr Cypher: Thank you Ajay, Jayden, Jamie, Jacques, Chris and Peter. I'm glad you're all on top of things. When Captain Little arrives, I'll be able to give him a full status report thanks to all of you. Bridge out.

Closing the Com System, Cmdr Cypher sat in his chair and watched the star field streaking by on the Main Viewscreen. He wondered what Capt Little was doing, if he had decided to have a few drinks then perhaps fall asleep. Thom hoped that wasn't the case. They all needed to be completely focused for this mission. It was going to be quite dangerous and they all needed to be at the ready for whatever came their way.

Captain's Quarters - Deck 2  Reply with quote

The Captain, in his personal quarters and now fully in his uniform and ready for... "espionage", took a look at his computer monitor. He must have forgotten to log out as an incoming message had been stored within its RAM.

Lewis quickly read, and replied to what he assumed was Explorer's Comline and then deleted whatever the message was. He had hoped that it's presence would never be needed but if Explorer truly was as good as it boasted itself, then they wouldn't need to wait long for it's arrival.

As it was, this Sector they were now headed towards was under Federation control, and by extension, Gamma Fleet's, there should be no need for any rescues from a self-driving Starship.

Lewis stood and readjusted the black uniform top around his neckline and headed out the door towards the Bridge. Taking the Turbolift up one deck, he shortly walked out onto the Command Deck and saw everyone at their Stations and Cmdr Cypher sitting in the XO's chair. The Captain walked over and took a seat in the CO's chair and asked for a status report from his Executive Officer.

Capt Little: What's our status, Commander?

While waiting on his XO to fill him in on what was going on with Event Horizon in his absence, Lewis looked around the Bridge at everyone at their stations and was impressed with their efficiency. He was proud to have them on this mission and knew they would be doing their best to complete their parts. The CO would be doing the same as well since this was his first mission in command of a Starship and knew everything he did would be scrutinized by FAdm Skyner.

Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

Happy to see the arrival of Capt Little on the Bridge and taking the CO's seat to his right, Thom answered the Captain's request for a status report.

Cmdr Cypher: Well Captain, Lieutenant Mitchell at Ops reports systems are operating efficiently. Lieutenant Commander Centares at Conn reports we're still on course for Sector Omicron at 2 days, 7hours from our destination. Lieutenant DeGrazzio at Science reports sensors are operating well within the range of excellence and there's nothing to report along our course there. Petty Officer Florenté reported the Engine Room is exactly how he left it, purring like a kitten. Dr. Tudismaque reports Sickbay is ready and currently has no casualties. Captain Lopez reported that all weapons and accounted for and the Marine Detachment is standing by. Lieutenant Commander Graham reports all Security and Tactical systems are available and standing by. Cloaking device is functioning perfectly. So to put it bluntly, Sir...there's no problems to report at this time.

The XO smiled at the Captain, hoping the detailed status report met to his approval. Thom remained seated in his chair and waited to hear Capt Little's response to the informative dialogue he just received. Cmdr Cypher was really enjoying his role as Executive Officer on this mission. It was a shame that it was only a temporary position...

The Captain turned towards his First Officer.

Capt Little: I didn't expect there would be any, Commander. We don't appear to be in the midst of a battle like we were just a few weeks ago...

Lewis stood and glanced towards the Main Viewscreen and then towards his Helmsman.

Capt Little: Lieutenant Commander Centares, I think we have enough distance from any heavily populated areas... How heavy a boot you got?

The CO smirked as he caught LtCmdr Centares' face. This was gonna be faster than any ship ever before put to the task...

Ajay smiled at the Captain's reference to having a heavy boot and looked at his console and calculated the amount of time it would take to reach their destination if they were moving at maximum speed.

Lt. Commander Centares: At maximum speed we'll reach our destination in 11 hours and 57 minutes, Captain! You give the word, and I'll accelerate to top speed, Sir!

The Chief Flight Control Officer was ready to bring Event Horizon to it's maximum speed using the Coaxial Warp Drive. As soon as Capt Little gave the word, they would be traveling faster than any Starship has ever gone under it's own power. Ajay was truly honored to be the one flying this vessel on such a historic moment.

The Captain looked around the Bridge and then back to his pilot.

Capt Little: The word, Mr. Centares, is given... Forward unto history..

Lewis waited on Ajay, now that the word had been given to increase their velocity.

Hearing the Captain give the word, Ajay called down to Engineering to let PO3 Florenté know they would be going to maximum speed. That way their Chief Engineer would know why there was such a strain on the Coaxial Warp Core.

Lt. Commander Centares: Aye Captain! Bridge to Engineering, we'll be going to maximum speed! Allocate full power to the engines, Mr. Florenté!

Waiting on the Chief Engineer to respond, Ajay began to slowly increase Event Horizon's velocity so there wouldn't be an immediate drain on the core. This would help prevent any unforeseen problems with the experimental Coaxial Drive of their Nova Class Refit Starship.

Jamie heard the call from the Bridge and looked at the energy build up in the Coaxial Warp Core and tapped his Combadge to reply. He saw that more power would be needed and since nobody was in Holodeck 2 while it was still running the simulation of Whitestar's Bridge, the Petty Officer announced he would be shutting the program down while they were at maximum speed.

PO3 Florenté: Engineering here, I'm shutting down Holodeck 2 to allocate full power to the engines.

When the Holodeck was completely shutdown, Jamie informed LtCmdr Centares he had all the power he needed to bring Event Horizon to it's maximum velocity.

PO3 Florenté: The Holodeck is shutdown, Commander Centares. You have full power available! Take us to maximum speed!

The Chief Engineer listened to the Coaxial Warp Core purring as the power fluctuation showed the energy going to the engines had increased exponentially. Jamie used the Main Systems Display table to watch the stars streaking by at the ludicrous speed they were traveling. With the pattern of rainbow light trailing behind them, it almost looked like they jumped to plaid!
