William saw the indicator on the Communications Console at the Ops Station flashing, which indicated there was an incoming hail from Whitestar. LtCmdr Trylon immediately put it up on the main viewer for all the Bridge to see and hear!

Capt Daqtorgh: Hello Commodore, thank you for coming! But as Commander Ashborn pointed out, Explorer and Infiniti are not large enough for such an operation. I would hope Oriskany and Sutherland were underway too. So please clear this up Commodore, also as the new superior on the scene, I turn command of the situation on New Bajor over to you, Commodore Carpathia, and the crew of Infiniti. Whitestar standing by for your orders, Sir!

Once the large Klingon Captain finished speaking to Como Carpathia, everyone on the Bridge waited on the Commodore's response. William noticed a message from Sutherland just arrived indicating they were underway along with their course, speed and projected ETA. This time LtCmdr Trylon let the Commodore know the status of Sutherland.

Lt. Commander Trylon: Commodore, an update on Sutherland! They're en route to New Bajor at Warp 9.8 and will be there in thirty-five minutes from now. I'll acknowledge the message for you, Sir.

Now that the Chief Operations Officer delivered the message from Sutherland and showed the video message of Capt Daqtorgh, William just needed to keep the frequency open for the Commodore to respond to the Captain of Whitestar and send an acknowledgement back to Sutherland that their message was received. LtCmdr Trylon was feeling better about his abilities here on the Bridge, but the thought of retiring was still on his mind.

E.J. rose from his seat when he saw Capt Daqtorgh on the Main Viewscreen and saw the concern in the Klingon Captain's face about there not being enough vessels to put a dent in the evacuation plan of New Bajor. The Commodore also nodded in approval toward LtCmdr Trylon for acknowledging the message from Sutherland.

Como Carpathia: It's good to see you, Captain. Both Oriskany and Sutherland are underway and between all five vessels we should be able to effectively evacuate any survivors of the New Bajor colony. As for taking command of the situation, Captain, it wouldn't do me any good since Admiral Arayuss is in command of Sutherland and will be there in thirty-five minutes. So you can turn over command to the Admiral when he arrives. Also, we'll be Warping directly to the planet, so we won't be approaching from outside the system using Impulse power. I believe Oriskany and Sutherland will be doing the same, so don't be alarmed when we drop out of Warp so close to your location above New Rakantha.

The Commodore waited for a response from Capt Daqtorgh from aboard Whitestar. They would be arriving in orbit in just a few minutes and E.J. knew his Chief Flight Control Officer was already going to place them in a geosynchronous orbit above New Rakantha. All the Commodore had to do now was wait a few minutes for Explorer and Infiniti to arrive at their destination...and wait to see if Capt Daqtorgh had anything else to say to him.

It did appear that Capt Daqtorgh had a little more left to say before he closed the channel on the Commodore.

Capt Daqtorgh: Thank you for bringing the fleet, Commodore! It will be good to work together to finish this mission! Daqtorgh out.

Once the channel was closed, William returned the Main Viewer to the star field that was streaking by at Warp Speed.

E.J. returned to his chair once Capt Daqtorgh basically hung up on him. The Commodore wasn't sure if he should be insulted or just chalk it up to typical Klingon behavior. It was customary for a Flag Officer to be given the opportunity to end the conversation with lower ranking officers. Oh well, E.J. wasn't going to worry about it right now. They would be crossing into the system soon and the Commodore wanted to know where the surviving colonists may be.

Como Carpathia: Jayden, as soon as we get into orbit of New Bajor above the capital city, run a complete sensor scan for life signs of any kind. No sign of the attackers are in any of the images Captain Daqtorgh sent to us, which means they could be hiding there too.

The Commodore waited on hearing from his Chief Science Officer as Infiniti sped towards the system's edge. In a matter of moments they would be crossing into it and Lt. Florenté would have to decrease the velocity so they wouldn't go right passed New Bajor.

Jayden setup the sensor array to detect all the different kinds of life forms that were in the Federation database so as soon as they arrived in orbit above New Rakantha, the Lieutenant could engage the sensors to scan for all the different types of living entities.

Lt. DeGrazzio: Aye, Captain. The sensors are ready to scan as soon as we arrive in orbit, Sir.

The Chief Science Officer sat there at the Science Station on the Bridge and waited for Infiniti to drop out of Warp and approach New Bajor. Once there, Jayden would begin the scanning of the entire New Rakantha region, including the areas outside of the city.

E.J. was extremely happy with his family, also known as the officers and crew of USS Infiniti. The Commodore thanked Lt. DeGrazzio for quickly following his order and preparing for the upcoming scans of New Rakantha and the surrounding areas by having the sensors ready. Como Carpathia was thrilled that Jayden was promoted to the rank of full Lieutenant and Chief Science Officer before they left SB34, after being able to signal Explorer that Event Horizon was in danger and getting the entire crew rescued.

Como Carpathia: Thank you, Jayden. You really deserved your promotion and I was very happy to sign off on it with Admiral Arayuss and Vice Admiral Martinelli. I’m sure Lewis would’ve put you up for it as well, had his brain not popped into Fantasyland for the rest of reality.

The CO smiled as he thought about how Lt. DeGrazzio started off as an Ensign and Assistant Science Officer on Infiniti’s last mission and how he became a Lieutenant JG right before he departed on Event Horizon. Now he was a full Lieutenant on Infiniti’s 4th mission into the Gamma Quadrant. This time E.J. needed Jayden’s ingenuity to help determine what was going on down on the surface of New Bajor. With the Lieutenant’s intelligence, the Commodore was sure the young Chief Science Officer would be able to ascertain what caused the deaths of so many of the colonists.

William was surprised to see an incoming hail from Whitestar from Capt Daqtorgh and put it up on the Main Viewer for Como Carpathia to see.

Capt Daqtorgh: Commodore, we request the use of Infiniti’s Marines to search the caves for survivors. Here are the probe readings from the caves. I am looking forward to hearing from you, Sir.

The Chief Operations Officer kept the channel open so the Commodore could respond to the Klingon Captain that was on the Main Viewer. Once all the probe's readings was received, LtCmdr Trylon sent them to the Center Console between the CO and XO's seats so they could view what Capt Daqtorgh was referring to.

As E.J. watched the message from Capt Daqtorgh, then looked over the images and data the Klingon Captain included in his transmission, the Commodore stood up from his chair to show the proper respect for the son of a Dahar Master.

Como Carpathia: Understood, Captain. As soon as we arrive in orbit above New Rakantha, I’ll deploy the Marines to the location of the cave entrance. From there we’ll monitor their progress into the catacombs and see if any survivors can be located.

The Commodore had the channel remain open in the event Capt Daqtorgh had something else to add. Explorer and Infiniti would be dropping out of Warp in a few minutes which will bring them within 45 seconds from orbit at full Impulse Power. It wouldn’t be long before both Intrepid Class vessels would be a stone’s throw away from Whitestar.

Seeing the incoming text message from Capt Daqtorgh aboard Whitestar, William read it and informed Como Carpathia of the message contents.

Lt. Commander Trylon: Commodore, message from Whitestar! Captain Daqtorgh says besides communications being faulty due to the thalium in the caves, Transporters are not recommended either! Not even with the use of a trio of Enhancers! According to their Science Officer, Commander Skonch, there’s a high probability of deformity of anyone attempting to beam up!

The Chief Operations Officer sent an acknowledgement back to Whitestar so they knew the message was received. LtCmdr Trylon really felt this would make things difficult for the Marines if they couldn’t communicate with Infiniti or beam up in the event of an emergency. This would mean the Squad would have to transport to the surface in their ISSCV along with all the equipment they would need to mount a rescue and defend the survivors from another attack. According to William’s honest opinion, this was not going to be an easy search and rescue mission.

When E.J. heard the news from LtCmdr Trylon regarding the Communications AND Transporters both being unavailable once the Marines were inside the cave, it gave the Commodore butterflies in his stomach. This was a situation he thought best to wait upon the arrival of Adm Arayuss and MGen Alderez. E.J. did not want to send his squad of Marines down there into a deathly situation for which there was no escape. This was something Como Carpathia wished to convey to Capt Daqtorgh himself.

Como Carpathia: William, open the channel to Whitestar! Captain Daqtorgh, I don't feel comfortable sending the Marines down there when I could have the wisdom of Admiral Arayuss and Major General Alderez to add to my own. They will both be here on Sutherland, which is only around twenty minutes out from your location. I would prefer that we wait on sending the squad for now.

The Commodore waited to hear what Capt Daqtorgh had to say about the change in the deployment of the SFMC squad on Infiniti down to the caverns below New Rakantha. In just a few moments they would be dropping out of Warp to proceed to New Bajor on full Impulse for about 45 seconds until they reached a geosynchronous orbit above the capital city. E.J. looked towards Lt. Florenté at the Flight Control Console to take care of the rest of the journey.
