The Lieutenant Colonel passed on the orders of Capt Daqtorgh to MCpt Vansen so she knew to cover Infiniti's Marines, Whitestar's Security Personnel and the Chief Engineer, Cmdr Cypher and his assistant, Ens Wilson. Once the message to Queen of Diamonds was sent, LtCol Carrera informed the Captain that his orders were followed.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Orders sent to Captain Vansen, Sir.

The Marine Detachment Wing Commander kept an eye on the progress of the ISSCV and at this time there were no further strikes from lightning on their hull. The SA-43X's were doing their job and kept Infiniti's Marine Carry-All from being hit again. They would be landing on the surface very shortly, so then MCpt Vansen would be setting up the Wildcards in a low altitude hover above the extraction site so they could drill down any Xenomorphs that came towards the escaping survivors and those assisting in their escape.

While Daqtorgh sat and waited to hear word on the array being completed, he contacted his XO to update him on the situation.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Commander Ashborn! We're sending an Away Team once the lightning deterrent array is done. See them off safely, Number One! Also inform Ensign Garcia that I've got a big assignment for him. Since the refugees are mostly children, I am appointing him the official refugee coordinator.

The CO waited to hear back from his XO and if the Yeoman had anything else to add as well. Things seemed to be going good on their end. Daqtorgh wondered how long it was going to be before the ISSCV finally landed on the surface of the extraction site. The Captain figured it would not be much longer at all since they were already in the troposphere.

The Commander was still making small talk with the others in Transporter Room 1 when he heard the voice of the Captain over his Combadge. Since Ensign Garcia was close enough to hear what Capt Daqtorgh said about becoming the official refugee coordinator, Chase smiled as he looked down at the young Yeoman.

Cmdr Ashborn: Looks like your scope of responsibilities just got larger, Ensign!

Tapping his Combadge, the Commander responded to the Captain on the Bridge.

Cmdr Ashborn: Acknowledged, Captain! We'll be ready, Sir!

If the Yeoman had anything else to add, Chase left the channel to the Bridge open for the young Ensign. This way Luis wouldn't have to use his own Combadge to reply to Capt Daqtorgh. The XO could see that the boy was eager to take on his new responsibility and was bursting with pride. Surely he would want to say something to the Captain.

The Ensign was thrilled when he heard Capt Daqtorgh assign him to the task of being the official refugee coordinator! This was going to be the biggest assignment Luís ever had aboard Whitestar so far! The Yeoman would make sure the children were taken care of when they beamed aboard, to the best of the Ensign's abilities.

Ens García: Thank you, Captain! I will do my best not to disappoint you!

The young officer stood by the XO and waited for the Away Team to arrive in the Transporter Room with the Array they were going to beam down to the surface with. Luís looked forward to meeting the children from New Bajor and hoped he would be able to help them when they arrived on Whitestar. The Yeoman just hoped they would not be too traumatized by all they went through.

Above Extraction Site - New Bajor  Reply with quote

With the SA-43X Hammerhead in hover-mode MCpt Vansen watched as the ISSCV touched down. The Marine pilot maneuvered her Starfighter into a strategic position over the extraction site so she could see if any Xenomorphs were on their way to interfere with the safe removal of the refugees. Using her Comlink, Shane instructed the other members of the Wildcards to do the very same to make sure they had the area surrounded from above. Once they were all in place, the Marine Captain called up to LtCol Carrera to inform them of their current situation.

MCpt Vansen: Queen of Diamonds to Whitestar! The I-Double-S-C-V has touched down and I can see survivors coming out of the cave entrance, they're being led by someone carrying a signal flare! So far no Xenos have been spotted, but I'd bet dimes to doughnuts this won't last!

As the Marine pilot kept an eye out for anything moving towards the ISSCV or the exodus of refugees coming forth from the opening to the catacombs, Shane switched her weapons to GUNS HOT and ordered the rest of the 58th Squadron to do the same. That way they could open fire on the Xenomorphs as soon as they were sighted. When it came to fighting these apex predators, it was best to eliminate them without prejudice. That meant not waiting for them to even begin to stalk their prey, they were to be terminated on sight!

While LtCol Carrera was diligently watching the progress of the ISSCV and the 58th Squadron's descent to the extraction site, the Lieutenant Colonel got word from MCpt Vansen that the Marine cargo vessel had landed. This was a good sign that the evacuation of the survivors would commence in a short amount of time. Rafael informed Capt Daqtorgh of their progress so that he would know what was happening on the planet's surface.

Lt. Colonel: The I-Double-S-C-V has landed, Captain. The Wildcards have taken up strategic positions around the extraction site to assist in the protection of the evacuees. Captain Vansen mentioned they're being led out of the cave by someone with a signal flare, so the screening process will begin shortly, Sir.

The Marine Detachment Wing Commander continued to monitor the situation at the extraction site. Rafael knew it wouldn't be long before they would be getting their first group of refugees up from New Bajor. It was a somber thought regarding the fact that the evacuees were mostly children. LtCol Carrera couldn't imagine what they went through down there and how they were going to have to find relatives to take care of them, perhaps back on Bajor.

The Lieutenant continued monitoring his console when heard the call from MCpt Lopez communicating from the ISSCV on the planet's surface. Cole put the transmission on the speakers so everyone could hear it.

MCpt Lopez: Captain Lopez calling Whitestar! I've got the manifest and I'm ready to transfer the data to you!

Cole responded to the Marine Captain immediately after the message from the ISSCV was complete.

Lt. Mitchell: This is Lieutenant Mitchell of Whitestar, Captain Lopez! Proceed with the data transfer of the manifest! We're ready to receive!

The Chief Operations Officer stood by with the data port open and ready to receive the manifest from New Rakantha's Spaceport. Once the information was received, Cole would begin processing the data and get the flight plans of all the vessels that left New Bajor within Capt Daqtorgh's specified time.

Hearing from Lt. Mitchell that they had the manifest and it's being uploaded, Daqtorgh was extremely pleased as he spoke to the Chief Operations Officer.

Capt Daqtorgh: Mr. Mitchell, once you have the manifest loaded and the ships mapped, we will be loaded with about two hundred and fifty refugees. I want a list of cargo and passengers along with passengers of suspicious origin, Lieutenant.

The Captain tapped his Combadge to contact his XO in Transporter Room 1, down on Deck 4.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Commander Ashborn! Prepare for about two hundred and fifty refugees to come aboard and now that we got the manifest, we track down these ships that left before the planet's quarantine. Please let Ensign Garcia know as well, Number One.

Daqtorgh now called down to this Chief Engineer on Deck 15 to inform him of what was going on.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Commander Cypher! When your ready with the array, Lieutenant Wolf is standing by with a Security Team to secure your team while the array is being installed.

Next came Whitestar's Counselor, who was located in Sickbay which was also located on Deck 4.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Counselor Ho! Be prepared for about two hundred and fifty refugees coming aboard, I want you to assist by seeing if any will open up to you. Remember these are kids who parents may be lost. Maybe with your help we can reunite some.

The CO smiled and thought to himself that if they could reunite some families, they will be looked upon as heroes. This gave Daqtorgh a feeling of honor and pride, knowing that if they could possibly reunite a family would bring so much joy in a situation like this. The Klingon Captain waited for the acknowledgements from his officers that they understood what he informed them of. Daqtorgh's thoughts were also with Yeoman Garcia and all the children he was going to be in charge of before they reached SB34. The Captain had great faith in the Ensign and knew he could handle the task well.

The Lieutenant kept the speakers open so when the Marine Captain responded, Capt Daqtorgh would hear it as well so he would know the data transfer had begun. Sure enough, in a matter of moments MCpt Lopez called back up to Whitestar to inform Cole the transfer had started.

MCpt Lopez: Lopez to Lieutenant Mitchell! Transfer commencing! You should be receiving the data now!

As soon the Marine Captain said what he did, the transfer began and in a very short amount of time it was completed. But before the Lieutenant could respond, MCpt Lopez called back.

MCpt Lopez: Lopez to Whitestar! We have forty kids ready to beam up, they've been scanned and cleared of Xenomorph embryos! They're standing within the Enhancers at the following coordinates...

Cole received the coordinates and responded to the Marine Captain before informing Capt Daqtorgh that he was sending the coordinates to the Transporter Chief on Deck 4.

Lt. Mitchell: Mitchell to Captain Lopez! Data transfer and Enhancer coordinates received!

The Lieutenant then informed the Captain of the data transfer and to expect the arrival of 40 children from the surface.

Lt. Mitchell: Captain, data transfer is complete and we've got forty little ones ready to beam up. I sent the Transporter Chief the coordinates so they'll be ready to beam up on your command.

As the Chief Operations Officer waited on Capt Daqtorgh to give the order to beam up the 40 children waiting in the Transporter Enhancer area down at the extraction site, Cole monitored the area from orbit making sure none of those hideous creatures were coming towards the Marines on the surface. Although the electrical storm was making the scans difficult, Lt. Mitchell tried compensating as best he could so he could warn MCpt Lopez if any Xenomorphs were coming their way.

While the Commander was continuing his small talk with the Transporter Chief, Dr. Tudismaque and Yeoman Garcia, they all heard the voice of Capt Daqtorgh over the speaker system in the Transporter Room. Everyone there heard the Captain say to prepare to receive the amount of 250 refugees, now that they've got the manifest.

Cmdr Ashborn: Understood, Captain! We'll be prepared for them as soon as they're ready to start beaming up, Sir!

The XO looked over at Ens Garcia and gave the boy a nod so the Yeoman knew his time to lead the children was almost here. The Transporter Chief just needed to know the coordinates from the surface so he could start beaming the children up to Whitestar. Dr. Tudismaque was getting prepared as well, so it was apparent to Chase that everyone was ready to welcome the children to a safe haven from the Xenomorphs.
