The Lieutenant took his task seriously and immediately engaged upon it. Tapping his Combadge, Jansen contacted SB34's Operations Division.

Lt. JG Panettiere: Lieutenant Panettiere to Starbase Operations. Notify all Infiniti personnel currently on Shore Leave to begin their return to the ship, and prepare for an emergency departure to Sector Epsilon.

He waited on a reply from SB34's Ops for only a few moments before receiving it.

SB34 Ops: Your request is acknowledged, Lieutenant. Operations out.

Jansen smiled as he looked back over to Como Carpathia to inform him of the completion of his task.

Lt. JG Panettiere: Task complete, Commodore. Starbase Operations is informing the crew to begin their return to Infiniti.

The Lieutenant remained politely silent as he waited on another task to be assigned to him. Jansen didn't care what it was, he just wanted to help out anywhere he was needed.

The Commodore smiled towards his Yeoman as he responded. E.J. was very thankful to have such an efficient Yeoman assigned to him.

Como Carpathia: Thank you, Lieutenant.

His attention returned to the General seeing if he was going to assign them all tasks to undertake for the developement of the protoype.

The General looked over the information on his PADD that contained the data that was given to him by Lt. JG Panettiere. Once Rex made up his mind, he addressed the rest of the team.

MGen Alderez: Alright, we will work in teams. Professor, I would like you to work with Ensign DeGrazzio on the portable frequency modulator that will be attached to a mobile power source. Commodore, if you can work on that with Lieutneant Panettiere. I need you to design it so that it can provide one hundred thousand TeraWatts of power. Admiral, if you would be so kind to assist me with making the modifications to a Phaser Rifle, I would appreciate it tremendously.

Rex smiled towards them all and then clapped his hands together.

MGen Alderez: If nobody has any questions, let's get to work!

The General walked over to the workbench and looked over the schematics for the standard issue Starfleet Marine Phaser Assault Rifle. He knew with it's versatile capabilities, it would be the easiest to modify for the experiement.

Professor Brewer looked over to Ensign DeGrazzio and motioned for him to follow along to the workbench they would be working on together. He was pleased to have such a competent assistant assigned to him for this task.

Prof Brewer: Jayden, please fetch me one of the frequecy modulation modules from the equipment room. In the meantime, I'll get our workbench set up.

The Professor patted the young Ensign on the shoulder in appreciation for his help. He knew that time was running out for the crews out there in Sector Epsilon.

Jayden smiled and acknowledged the Professor's request with a nod before going to the equipment room to look around for the right frequency modulation module they would need. It didn't take long before the Ensign found what he was looking for and returned to the workbench where the Professor was setting the area up with the tools he needed.

Ens DeGrazzio: I got one for you, Professor. This looks like the right size we'll need to modify so it will work with the Phaser Rifle's portable power supply.

The young Ensign stood there awaiting any other task the Professor needed him to do before they began working on the frequency modulator. Jayden was very excited to be working on such an important project with all of them. He knew getting himself assigned to Gamma Fleet was the right decision.

E.J. walked over to a workbench and made sure all the tools he needed were readily available. The Commodore was pleased to find that everything he needed was at his disposal.

Como Carpathia: Jansen, see if you can find two of those portable warp-plasma containers. Those things you saw down in Engineering on Infiniti, remember? They were by the ducts you crawled inside of when you rid us of that Xenomorph that stowed away in Lt. Trylon's belly.

The Commodore went over to where he could get the flexible plasma conduits. He started cutting them to the sizes he felt were needed to run from the plasma containers to the frequency modulator Prof Brewer was working on, which would be attached to the Phaser Rifle Adm Arayuss and MGen Alderez were modifying.

The Lieutenant nodded to Como Carpathia and went to the storage room to find the items he was requested to retrieve. It didn't take Jansen long to find a shelf that contained several plasma containers. He grabbed 2 of them and quickly returned to the workbench the Commodore was seated at.

Lt. JG Panettiere: Here you go, Commodore. Two plasma containers as requested. Would you like me to get you anything else?

As the Yeoman waited on his CO to make another request of him, he began familiarizing himself with the tools that were organized across the workbench. Jansen thought it best that he learn how they work and what they were for, in the event he would ever need to use them.

The Admiral went over to the weapons locker and retrieved a standard issue Phaser Rifle. Aeryck carried it over to the workbench where Rex was examining the schematics for the weapon.

Adm Arayuss: Here's the rifle, all we need to do now is make the modifications to it. Then make sure it can be easily replicated.

Aeryck began to disassemble the housing that the power supply conduits would be attaching to the weapon's frequency modulator. If everything went according to plan, they would have no problem eliminating the Deltauran threat in the Gamma Quadrant.

Rex looked over the rifle Aeryck was disassembling on the workbench and was pleased the Admiral was so competent at this kind of technological modification to a Phaser weapon. He silently watched as Aeryck made all the necessary modifications to the rifle that would be necessary for it to be able to fire the modulated energy from the power supply.

MGen Alderez: You're doing great, Aeryck. I'm so glad you completely comprehend what needs to be done to the Phaser Rifle.

The General smiled as he walked over to where Prof Brewer and Ens DeGrazzio were working to see how their end of the project was coming along. From what Rex could tell, the Professor and Jayden were doing an excellent job on the frequency modulator modifications.

MGen Alderez: Great job, Professor! You and Jayden will be ready with a prototype in no time. As soon as it's ready, let me know.

Rex then moved beside the workbench Como Carpathia was working beside Ens Panettiere, and observed the two of them fabricating the attachments for the power supply units into a portable harness. It was coming along very well.

MGen Alderez: Excellent work, Commodore! You and Jansen are really making headway with the power source for the new weapon. The Deltaurans are really going to wish they never punched their way into our dimension.

The General walked back over to where Admiral Arayuss was working on the Phaser Rifle and couldn't be more pleased. Everyone was doing brilliant work on their assigned tasks. Rex filled up with a sense of confidence that was absent earlier. Now he knew the Deltaurans days in the Gamma Quadrant were numbered.

As the Admiral was working alongside MGen Alderez on the modifications to the Phaser Rifle, a call came in from Starbase Operations that there was a priority communication from the USS Oriskany. Aeryck immediately went from the workbench to the Professor's office and closed the door before accepting the incoming message. After a few minutes Aeryck left the Professor's office with an agitated expression on his face. It was quite apparent the Admiral was pissed off. He returned to the workbench that Rex was using and out of frustration, Aeryck smacked his hand down upon the table.

Adm Arayuss: That message was from Captain Reich aboard Oriskany. The Deltauran was not eliminated from the ship. Probability is that they've lost containment and losing crew members as we're working here. Let's increase our speed but remain within safety guidelines. They're running out of time.

The Admiral quickly started working on the Phaser Rifle and assisting MGen Alderez on anything he needed to complete his portion of the project. With Prof Brewer and Ens DeGrazzio working together on the frequency modulator, and Como Carpathia and Lt. JG Panettiere assembling the portable power supply, Aeryck knew it wouldn't be long at all before the prototype would be ready for replication.
