The Acting CO was happy to hear the message from Starbase Operations. Knowing the mission was a success made James feel relieved. It wouldn't be long before they were reaching the outer markers of SB34 so they would have to drop from Warp Speed. Cmdr Kee responded to LtCmdr Boffi in a cheerful voice.

Cmdr Kee: That's great to hear, Mr. Boffi! All of us will share in the success of this mission, I'll see to that!

As Sutherland continued at Warp 6, following behind the fleet of tow ships and the abandoned vessels, there were no reports of anything out of the ordinary. As the time went by, James looked around at the volunteers manning their stations on the Bridge. They all did a spectacular job together and would get commendations for their gallantry during the standoff with the Orions.

As the distance between SB34 and Sutherland closed up, it was time to drop out of Warp and proceed at Impulse Power the rest of the way to the Starbase.

Cmdr Kee: Mr. Thomas, secure us from Warp Speed. Ahead ¾ Impulse Power. Mr. Boffi, inform Starbase Operations that we're on final approach.

The Acting CO looked over at the the Flight Control and Ops Stations and waited for his orders to be carried out by both Dylan and Michaelangelo. James was proud of everyone he served with on the mission, had Capt Marino not had an obsession with stuffing his face he would've been alive for this moment of bringing all the abandoned vessels back to SB34 along with the 2 survivors they picked up along the way. The Commander knew there would be families waiting to reunite with them as soon as it was possible. Plus there was Dragana's interest in getting to the bottom of how the Captain made it to command the Sutherland being so vastly overweight. Cmdr Kee would be interested in finding out how that happened as well.

Dylan immediately did as Cmdr Kee ordered and reduced the velocity of Sutherland from Warp Speed down to ¾ Impulse Power right as they passed the outer markers for SB34's control space.

Lt. Thomas: We're secured from Warp Speed, Commander! Now moving at ¾ Impulse Power on final approach to Starbase 34! ETA is just 11 minutes, Sir!

The Lieutenant enjoyed working at the Flight Control Station aboard Sutherland, but missed his station aboard Whitestar. Dylan would be glad to see his vessel fully operational again, but he was still curious to see how Capt Zh'Osha would work out. Since Capt Marino died on his first mission and Capt Adonis died on his as well, Lt. Thomas wondered if Commanding Officers were becoming scarce here in Gamma Fleet.

The Acting XO did as Cmdr Kee ordered and sent another message to Starbase Operations Approach Control, to make them aware they were on final approach. In an extremely short amount of time, they got their response which Michaelangelo put over the speakers for everyone on the Bridge to hear.

SB 34 Approach Control: Welcome back, Sutherland. Prepare to reduce speed to Maneuvering Thrusters only, Space Doors will be opening shortly. It's good to have you back after a successful mission.

LtCmdr Boffi was glad this mission was coming to an end. It really was a shame Capt Marino didn't survive his own eating habits and killed himself choking on a mound of marshmallows. Once Oriskany was fully repaired, the Chief Ops Officer looked forward to resuming his regular duties. Michaelangelo was looking forward to getting to know Capt Calzada, he heard a lot about him and his excellent service record aboard Infiniti.

Time moved rather quickly as they approached SB34 from the outer markers. At the appropriate time, James instructed Dylan to reduced speed by cutting the Impulse Power and using just the Maneuvering Thrusters to position them in front of the opening doors of the Spacedock.

Cmdr Kee: Cut the Impulse Engines, Mr. Thomas. Use the Maneuvering Thrusters to position us in front of the Space Doors. They'll be bringing Sutherland in under remote, so just relax and enjoy the ride.

The Acting CO waited for the Lieutenant to follow his instructions and slow Sutherland down and prepare for entry into the Spacedock levels of SB34. Soon they would be inside and remotely piloted into their berth. James was getting very excited about this mission coming to an end. Unfortunately, the Commander knew there would be an inquiry into the events leading up to the death of Capt Marino. This was something James was not looking forward to, but understood it's importance.

The Lieutenant cut the Impulse Engines and moved forward towards SB34 under Maneuvering Thrusters. Once Sutherland got close enough, the automatic approach control system took over the piloting of the ship, which left Dylan nothing to do but watch the Main Viewscreen as the Space Doors fully opened.

Lt. Thomas: We're under the automatic approach control system, Commander. ETA to Sutherland's berth is roughly 6 minutes! Smoke 'em if you got 'em...

The Chief Flight Control Officer sat back in his chair with his arms folded across his chest as he continued watching Sutherland enter the Space Dock through the large opening. They slowly moved down the well lighted path and over to their berth where the moorings were engaged.

Lt. Thomas: Sutherland is secure in it's berth, Commander Kee. The Gangway is extending as will attach momentarily. It would appear that we're home, Sir! Congratulations!

Dylan waited on Cmdr Kee to give the order for him to log out of the Flight Control Station now that Sutherland was docked inside SB34. The Lieutenant let loose a sigh of relief that they made it back considering the circumstances. When Oriskany and Whitestar returned with their CO's no longer in command, the vessels were considerably damaged. But Sutherland had no damage at all. It came home in the same condition as it departed. This brought a smile to Dylan's face...

James was relieved they made it back to SB34 without any further incidents. Hearing from Lt. Thomas that Sutherland was secure in it's berth made him smile with satisfaction. The Acting CO spoke up loud and clear for all on the Bridge to hear.

Cmdr Kee: Thank you, Dylan. But I congratulate all of you here for getting this mission done without any serious situations escalating into a full out battle with those Orions. We all did a job well done, you may secure your stations and prepare for the debriefings we'll all have to face over the death of Captain Marino.

The Commander tapped his Combadge to speak with their Chief Engineer, LtCmdr Waters.

Cmdr Kee: Bridge to Engineering! Mr. Waters, you can take the Main Energizer and Warp Core offline. We're safely secured inside our berth in Starbase 34 now. Thank you for a job well done. Bridge out.

James also had to contact Kestra and let her know about turning over Alana Thompson to SB34 Security regarding the interrogation of the child over the Captain's demise.

Cmdr Kee: Kee to Counselor Elbrun. We're docked in Starbase 34 now. We'll be turning over Alana to their Security Personnel for interrogation so you should get her ready. They'll be coming for her soon.

As the Acting CO waited for Kestra to respond with an acknowledgement, he informed the Acting XO they should contact SB34's Security Personnel and inform them about Alana's situation and possible involvement in the Captain's death.

Cmdr Kee: Michaelangelo, be sure to contact Starbase Security and let them know to take Alana Thompson into custody, Admiral Arayuss will want to have a chat with her regarding the possible involvement in Captain Marino's death.

James walked around the Bridge watching all of the officers there logging out of their consoles. The Acting CO felt pleased he was able to bring everyone home safely. He still needed to contact Dr. Jovic and let her know that Tootie Ramsey should be released as well, into the care of Yeoman Panettiere. The Lieutenant will be instructed to find Tootie's family either on SB34 or elsewhere and reunite them. Before James would follow through on that, he needed to hear from Kestra and Michaelangelo on the orders he gave them.

Zac heard the Acting CO give the order to take the Main Energizer and Warp Core offline since they were now docked inside their berth in SB34. LtCmdr Waters was very pleased with how the engines performed on Sutherland's first mission in the Gamma Quadrant. Tapping his Combadge he replied to Cmdr Kee on the Bridge.

Lt. Commander Waters: Waters to Bridge! I'm taking the Main Energizer and Warp Core offline now! It's good to be back in our berth, Sir.

The Chief Engineer began the shutdown procedure for the Main Energizer followed by the Warp Core. Once they were completely offline, Zac contacted the Bridge once more.

Lt. Commander Waters: Engineering to Bridge, the Main Energizer and Warp Core are now offline. Welcome home everyone!

LtCmdr Waters smiled as he let the rest of his Engineering Personnel know they could complete their tasks and shutdown their stations. The mission was complete! The abandoned vessels were returned to SB34 and the survivors they rescued would be reunited with their loved ones. The body of Capt Marino would be transported to the Morgue in the Medical Area of the Starbase. Zac wondered what would be in store for him next since this particular mission didn't have much of a demand on his skills.

Kestra heard the voice of Cmdr Kee over the Com System and could tell he was greatly relieved to be back at SB34. With Capt Marino dying, being thrust into the position of Acting CO probably was very stressful. The Counselor thought Cmdr Kee did a really good job of getting the abandoned vessels home and themselves as well. Kestra tapped her Combadge to let the Commander know she'd be waiting for the Security Team from SB34 to take custody of Alana Thompson.

Lt. Commander Elbrun: Acknowledged, Commander. Alana is still asleep for now, I'm going to leave her this way until Starbase 34 Security arrives. No use getting her upset when we don't have to.

The Counselor smiled at the Security Team that was already in the Guest Quarters. They both understood and approved of leaving Alana asleep until SB34's Security arrived. Kestra just had to wait on them to come for the sleeping child. Until then, the Counselor just kept reading the PADD she was looking through earlier.

The Acting XO did as Cmdr Kee had said and contacted SB34's Security Personnel, informing them they would be taking a child into custody for possibly having something to do with Capt Marino's death. Michaelangelo informed them where to find Alana Thompson aboard Sutherland and received a reply informing him a team was on the way.

Lt. Commander Boffi: I contacted Starbase 34's Security Personnel and they're on their way to take Alana Thompson into custody, Commander.

With his tasks nearing completion, Michaelangelo signed out of the Ops Console and prepared to depart the Bridge once Cmdr Kee gave him clearance to leave. Being the Acting XO, he felt it would be improper for him to leave just yet. Just in case Cmdr Kee needed him for something, LtCmdr Boffi thought it best that he leave the ship along with the Acting CO.

James was feeling good now that the mission was over. He smiled at the officers on the Bridge that were logging out of their consoles and making ready to depart. The Acting CO tapped his Combadge and called out to Dr. Jovic...

Cmdr Kee: Kee to Dr. Jovic! You can wake Tootie Ramsey and prepare her for departure now that were docked inside the Starbase. Assign Lieutenant Panettiere the task of bringing the young girl to her family. I'm sure she'd like to be with them after the ordeal she's been through. After that, you can shutdown Sickbay and head on over to SB34's Medical Deck to release Captain Marino's body to them. If you wish to further your investigation, please feel free. I'll let the Admiral know you have my full support.

The Commander walked back over to the CO's chair and took a seat while waiting to hear back from Dr. Jovic. He was really interested in finding out how Capt Marino was able to get instated as a Commanding Officer after the training program while in such poor health. James was sure Adm Arayuss and the entire Administrative Staff would like to know how that had been managed as well. Cmdr Kee wondered if it fell upon him to notify the Captain's family that he passed away, or would the Admiral handle that?
