Cheif Medical Officer's Office - Deck 12  Reply with quote

Dr. Jovic was in her office finishing up Capt Marino's Certificate of Death when she heard Cmdr Kee over her Combadge. Rising up from behind her desk, Dragana tapped her badge to respond to the Acting CO.

Cmdr Jovic: Understood, Sir! I will definitely be following up on how the Captain was able to get to command of Sutherland being in such poor health. I'm about to speak with Jansen now. Jovic out.

The Doctor left her office and walked over to where the young girl was sleeping and adjusted her medication so she would soon wake. As the mild stimulant was doing it's thing, Dr. Jovic looked up at Lt. Panettiere.

Cmdr Jovic: Jansen, Commander Kee has charged you with taking care of Miss Ramsey until she can be delivered to her family. She will be awake soon, and since we're now docked in Starbase 34, you may want to grab your personal items from your Quarters and come back here. This way when the child awakens, you can escort her back to the base and find her family. After that, I'm sure there's going to be an inquiry into the Captain's death. I'm sure since you were the first to find him, you will be debriefed on what you discovered in his Quarters.

The Chief Medical Officer stood there with a smile on her face as she looked into the eyes of the young Yeoman. From what she read in his personnel file, the officer had been through an awful lot in his short amount of service. Dragana saw him as a bright young man, filled with ingenuity. The Doctor almost thought of Jansen like a younger brother. If it wasn't for her Romulan features, there were those who would say they were related.

Sickbay - Deck 12  Reply with quote

Jansen nodded to the Doctor as he accepted the responsibility of taking care of Tootie till she could be reunited with her family aboard SB34. He just needed to contact the Administrative Office to find if she had any relatives here. If not, he would have to arrange transportation to their location for the young Tootie.

Lt. Panettiere: Alright Doctor, I'll run to my Quarters really quick and get my stuff. That way I can take Tootie with me when I leave and I'll find out where her family is. If they're not here on Starbase 34, I'm going to have to arrange to take her to their location.

The Yeoman quickly exited Sickbay and took the Turbolift to his Quarters on Deck 9. Jansen grabbed his travel bag and placed all the items in there that he unpacked before they left on their mission to Sector Epsilon. The mission was so short that the Lieutenant never even had the opportunity to sleep in his bed. But he really didn't mind since he thought of his home as being aboard Infiniti with Como Carpathia.

Slinging his bag over his shoulder, Jansen returned to Sickbay to find Tootie sitting up on the Biobed, with Dr. Jovic standing beside her. The girl was all smiles when she saw the Lieutenant walk in, which lead to an immediate jump off the bed. The Doctor nodded in approval that Tootie was ready to go.

Lt. Panettiere: Well Doctor, we're off to find her family. I hope to see you again soon, it's been a pleasure working with you. I kind of thought of you like a big sister to me while I've been here. If you need my help for anything once my task is complete, please let me know. I'm just a Com-Call away!

Turning towards the young girl, the Yeoman spoke to her in a friendly tone so that she would stay in a calm frame of mind. The last thing Jansen wanted was a hysterical Tootie on his hands.

Lt. Panettiere: Let's go find your family, Tootie. Do you know off hand if you have any relatives on Starbase 34?

The youngster shook her had and looked down at her feet.

Dorothy Ramsey: My parents were with me on the ship I was found aboard. They were killed by the Deltaurans... But my grandma lives on Risa. She runs a resort there.

Jansen's eyebrows raised as he responded.

Lt. Panettiere: Then it looks like we'll be going to Risa as soon as I check in with the Administrative Offices and let them know I need access to a Runabout.

Tootie was thrilled she was going to have the nice Lieutenant take her to live with her grandmother on Risa. She gave the Yeoman a big hug!

Dorothy Ramsey Thank you, Lieutenant!!

The Yeoman smiled and gave her a quick hug back.

Lt. Panettiere: It's no problem, Tootie. Let's get going, the Doctor needs to shutdown Sickbay.

The young girl quickly gave Dr. Jovic a hug before joining Lt. Panettiere as they exited Sickbay and took the Turbolift to the Gangway Entrance to SB34. They exited Sutherland together, hand in hand, as if they were on a journey to Oz.

After watching the Yeoman escort the young girl from Sickbay, Dragana continued to make the preparations to have Capt Marino's body transferred over to the Morgue aboard SB34. Everything on the stasis chamber indicated it was ready, so the Doctor tapped her Combadge to let the Medical Deck know the Captain was ready for transport.

Cmdr Jovic: Dr. Jovic to Starbase 34 Medical Deck! Captain Marino's body is in a stasis chamber ready for transport. Lock in on the chamber's coordinates via the transponder I just activated. Beam the Captain directly to the Morgue, I will be over there shortly to complete my investigation. Jovic out.

The Doctor watched as the stasis chamber which the body of Capt Marino was contained, dematerialized. It was now in the Morgue aboard SB34, where Dr. Jovic could continue her investigation on how a man in such reprehensible health could make it to command a Starship. Dragana packed up her personal items and then went to her Quarters to do the same. When the Doctor was ready, she went to the Transporter Room and had herself beamed over to SB34's Medical Deck so she could begin her quest for knowledge.

Jared logged out of the Sec/Tac Station, feeling relieved that his skills weren't needed on this mission after all. Other than the loss of Capt Marino's life, which was his own doing, there was no other casualties on their trip to Sector Epsilon. LtCmdr D'Shoua didn't think he would need to be debriefed on the Captain's death since he wasn't involved in anyway. But that wasn't a guarantee the Chief Sec/Tac Officer wouldn't be questioned.

Lt. Commander D'Shoua: Well, I guess I'll see you around SB34. We had a successful mission, Commander Kee. Thank you for that.

Walking across the Bridge to the Turbolift, Jared took it to the deck where his Quarters were located and packed up his things. He took special care of the model Nissan Skyline GT-R that Prof Brewer gave him as a gift years ago, placing it in a soft towel to protect the 1:18 scale vehicle from being damaged in transit back to Infiniti.

Once everything was in his travel case, LtCmdr D'Shoua exited the Quarters he was assigned and made his way to the Gangway. Upon exiting Sutherland, Jared turned to look at the exterior of the Nebula Class Starship through the transparent walls of the Gangway. The Chief Sec/Tac Officer wasn't sure if he would ever be on this class of Starship again, so he took in the sight for a few moments before continuing through to SB34 and making his way to Infiniti to unpack.

Marine Detachment Wing Commander's Office - Deck 28  Reply with quote

LtCol Carrera got word Sutherland was docked inside SB34, with officers and crew were already departing. Rafo immediately contacted the Marine Transfer Unit so they could move their SA-43X Hammerheads off of Sutherland since their mission was complete. According to the records of the Space Dock, USS Whitestar was back in it's berth undergoing repairs. The Lieutenant Colonel contacted them to see about moving the Starfighters back over to their hanger aboard the Akira Class vessel. Once LtCol Carrera was finish with his final duties aboard Sutherland, he collected his things and went down the corridor to the barracks where the 58th Squadron was relaxing.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Time to get moving, boys and girls! We're docked and I saw that Whitestar is under repairs in it's berth here in Space Dock. I contacted the MTU and issued instructions to have our birds transferred back to our ship. Our mission aboard Sutherland is complete, grab your things and let's make like a baby and head out!

The Marine Detachment Wing Commander watched as the Marine pilots quickly gathered their things and stuffed them in their duffel bags with reckless abandonment. It showed in their haste they were ready to get back to Whitestar. Rafo felt the same way, being aboard two vessels were the CO was killed was somewhat of a jinx. With Capt Zh'Osha being very much alive, LtCol Carrera felt more comfortable returning to their home vessel.

When the pilots were ready to leave, they rode the Turbolift to the Gangway and exited Sutherland together. Rafo did feel pride in the way his Marines performed on the mission to Sector Epsilon and was going to make a full report to MGen Alderez when it was time. As for now, LtCol Carrera just wanted to get his Marines back aboard Whitestar where they would get to know Capt Zh'Osha. Their Hammerheads would be soon to follow...

With all the main systems shut down, Zac went over to his office and saw that he received a message from RAdm Martinelli regarding a transfer to USS Infiniti as their Chief Engineer since Sutherland was going to be out of service until a replacement for Capt Marino could be found. LtCmdr Waters was the Chief Engineer aboard Infiniti during it's first mission, before he was transferred to Utopia Planetia as an Engineer in the Starfleet Shipyards. This news was a bit of a full circle moment for him and he was extremely happy about it.

Zac gathered his personal items from his office, then retreated to his Quarters to collect his uniforms and other items from there before making his way to the Gangway and exiting Sutherland. The Chief Engineer looked back through the clear area of the walkway that ran between the ship and SB34's interior and smiled.

Lt. Commander Waters: Goodbye Old Girl. Time for me to go back home for now...

With that, Zac made his way down the rest of the Gangway and made his way over to Infiniti where he would return to his duties as Chief Engineer. It was his first time out at that position and had always held a special place in his heart all the time he worked at the shipyards of Utopia Planetia. Infiniti was the finest vessel he had ever worked on. It had the most efficient Engine Room in all the fleet. Now LtCmdr Waters was heading back to where he felt he had always belonged.

Kestra could see that her assignment aboard Sutherland had come to an end. She could sense there was no lingering trauma over the death of Capt Marino since it was discovered that he choked to death overeating marshmallows to impress the obese child who saw herself as a Princess. There didn't appear to be any sympathy for their Commanding Officer who lost his life. They were disappointed, but that was their strongest feelings on the matter. The Counselor got up from where she was seated and spoke to Cmdr Kee.

Lt. Commander Elbrun: You did a great job finishing the mission, Commander. This will certainly work out in your favor should you seek your own command some day. As for now, it's time I get going...

The Lieutenant Commander gave a slight wave to those left on the Bridge and made her way to the Turbolift taking it down to her Quarters on Deck 13. Kestra grabbed her belonging that she brought with her from Infiniti and packed them carefully. Sealing her travel bag, LtCmdr Elbrun left her Quarters she was assigned aboard Sutherland and made her way to the Gangway where she exited the ship without looking back. Kestra's only thoughts were ahead of her, looking at Infiniti docked across the way.

Mike watched as the Counselor departed the Bridge and decided it was time for him to go as well. He didn't have much to do on this mission, but he was still glad for the opportunity to serve aboard Sutherland. Jayden was now assigned as Infiniti's Chief Science Officer, so that left LtCmdr Joffee without a Starship to be assigned to. Mike knew that this ship was going to sit in a state of limbo until a new crew could be assigned so he figured he may as well see what services he could provide in the Specialized Scientific Laboratories under the guidance of Prof Brewer when he returned from his secret mission aboard Event Horizon. Signing out of the Science Station, LtCmdr Joffee stood up and stretched for a moment before saying his farewells to the other officers still on the Bridge.

Lt. Commander Joffee: Well Commander Kee, it's been a privilege serving with you, Michaelangelo and Dylan here. This mission was a lot of things, but boring certainly wasn't one of them. You all take care now, ya hear?

The Chief Science Officer left the Bridge via the Turbolift and went to his Quarters to grab a few things before making his way to the Gangway Hatch and proceeding towards the entrance to SB34. Mike didn't know where he was going to be assigned next so he figured he'd check in with the Chief of Fleet Operations, RAdm Martinelli, and see if his services could be used in Prof Brewers laboratories. After exiting the Gangway into the Observation Lounge, LtCmdr Joffee headed for the Administration Level to see his destiny.

With officers leaving the Bridge to go about their own way now that they were docked at SB34, Dylan no longer served a purpose aboard Sutherland. He really enjoyed piloting the Nebula Class vessel on this mission, even though it was short lived. But his home was aboard the Akira Class vessel, USS Whitestar.

Lt. Thomas: I guess I'll be leaving as well since we're docked now. Thank you for the opportunity, Commander. I really enjoyed it.

Smiling at both Cmdr Kee and LtCmdr Boffi, Dylan walked off the Bridge and into a Turbolift, where he took it to his Quarters, packed up his things and made a mad dash for the Gangway! Lt. Thomas really wanted to get back aboard Whitestar and perhaps get to know Capt Zh'Osha better than he did at the ceremony where he got promoted. The Captain seemed somewhat standoff-ish when he first met her, so he hoped that wouldn't be the case the next time they met.

The Acting CO smiled and nodded at the officers that left the Bridge to go about their business off of Sutherland. This just left LtCmdr Boffi and himself, plus one other. James walked over towards Michaelangelo and placed his hand on the Acting XO's shoulder.

Cmdr Kee: Well, I guess this is it. It's been an honor serving with such a fine crew. It's a shame Captain Marino never lived to see the first mission end successfully. I'm going to gather my things and head over to Oriskany. You're welcome to join me, unless you have something else planned with Alexander?

James looked at LtCmdr Boffi while waiting for a response. He wondered where the boy was now that everyone had left the ship. Wherever Alexander was, he was sure Michaelangelo would find him since he was in charge of the lad. If they both had plans together, it would be fine with the Commander. James knew after he stowed his things back in his Quarters on Oriskany, he'd be required to appear before the Administrative Officers to give a full report on the mission and how Capt Marino met his demise.
