Thom was somewhat confused by what the Captain said. He didn't say anything aloud about taking anything apart. This made the XO understandably curious.

Cmdr Cypher: No, Captain. I didn't mention taking anything apart. Why do you ask?

With the inquiry out there, the Commander waited to hear what Capt Little meant by what he said to him. This was slightly confusing to Thom and he was looking forward to finding out what the Captain was implying.

The Captain chuckled back at his XO.

Capt Little: You didn't have to, Thom... We're both engineers after all... Why do you think I'm activating the Holodecks downstairs? Everyone gets a chance to screw up after all... And I'm planning on dismantling the drive when it's my turn, so I am sure you would want to see that!

Lewis turned next to the Operations Station.

Capt Little: Mr. Mitchell, if you'd be so kind?

The CO now waited for the familiar hum of the power distribution systems as the systems were being turned on.

Cole did as Capt Little asked and allocated power to the Holodeck grids, making it possible for them to be used while they were on their way to Sector Omicron.

Lt. Mitchell: Holodecks powering up, Captain. They'll be ready for assigned usage in a few moments, Sir.

The Lieutenant was curious to know what kind of program he'd be running in the Holodeck when it was his turn. Off hand, he had no idea. But Cole was sure the Captain would recommend one for him.

Thom smiled back at the Captain as he replied after Lt. Mitchell informed them the Holodecks would be ready shortly.

Cmdr Cypher: That would be something to see, Captain.

The XO wasn't really sure if he wanted to run a Holodeck program of them dismantling the Coaxial Warp Core just to see how it worked. Thom figured as long as PO3 Florenté knew what he was doing, the Commander was comfortable with sticking to his duties as Executive Officer.

The Captain checked the chronometer under the viewscreen that showed the binary time visually, there was just a few moments before the briefing now, so he held his hand in front of him towards the corridor that lead to the Conference Room.

Capt Little: After you, Number One. Mr. Mitchell, you're turn to be in charge for a bit.

Since Lewis had given LtCmdr Centares the Bridge earlier, he felt everyone should have some kind of experience with not knowing what they had gotten themselves in to...

Thom nodded to Capt Little and lead the way to the Conference Room, which was just a short walk down the corridor past the Captain's Ready Room and the General Science Laboratory. As the XO entered the room the Briefing was to take place, he first had to use the Lavatory since he hadn't gone since before they launched from SB34.

Cmdr Cypher: Don't mind me, Captain. When you gotta go, you gotta go...

The Commander entered the Lavatory to do his business, leaving Capt Little to wait inside the Conference Room for Thom to complete the task he set out to do as he entered the small wash room in the corner. Now if only the XO brought some reading material with him...

Conference Room - Deck 1  Reply with quote

The Captain sighed slightly, and wondered if it were possible for Thom to have gone before, maybe on his way to or from Engineering...

Capt Little: Hit the fan! You're stinking up the Conference Room, Number One!

Lewis had hoped no one was about to enter the room with the waft as the door opened to the bathroom.

Marine Detachment Commander's Office - Deck 3  Reply with quote

As Chris was settling in his office, he heard Capt Little request that he join them on Deck 1. MCpt Lopez quickly left his office on Deck 3 and made his way down the corridor and to the Turbolift that took him to Deck 1. He assumed the Captain wanted him to go to the Conference Room, so that was his first stop. Upon entering, he saw Capt Little and was also hit with a wave of stench that was stinging his eyes. Chris thought to himself Did the Captain just pass gas and not use the Environmental Controls to filter out the stink? Was this a test of some kind? The Marine Captain stood at attention and addressed his superior officer.

MCpt Lopez: Marine Captain Lopez, reporting as ordered, Sir!

Judging by the scent in the room, it was permeating everywhere and was making Chris sweat in his duty uniform. He really hoped he was passing whatever test Capt Little was torturing him with. Perhaps the sulfuric stench was to see if MCpt Lopez would vomit easily over a smelly situation. It was a good thing Chris skipped breakfast this morning so he and his Marines would be at the Event Horizon's launch on time.

Conference Room - Deck 1  Reply with quote

As Lewis waited on the XO to reappear, the Captain greeted MCpt Lopez as he headed for the wall panel.

Capt Little: At ease, Marine Captain...

The CO tapped at the panel and increased the Conference facilities Air Conditioning Systems.

Capt Little: I apologize for the...scent, Mr. Lopez... It appears Commander Cypher chased a space weevil into the bathroom.... Anyway. Your detachment find everything they need? To your liking I hope... Take a seat, we still have others to arrive...

As the Captain spoke, the Yeoman came in and took his order for lunch. Since everyone had rushed here for their launch, they must be pretty hungry. Lewis decided on a turkey and ham on rye with a cranberry juice. He waited for MCpt Lopez to give his order and respond before he continued on any further.

Chris took a seat as the Captain told him to and when the Yeoman asked for his lunch order, he couldn't think of anything at first, but then he decided on a red chili, beef and bean burrito with some refried beans and spanish style rice. It was one of his favorites that his mother used to make back in Southern California, where he was born. The stench was clearing the room finally, which was good because he didn't think he could eat with that stink in his mouth.

MCpt Lopez: Hello Yeoman, I'll have a red chili, beef and bean burrito, along with that I'd like some refried beans and spanish style rice. I'll also take a cherry cola in a tall glass with ice, please. Everything is excellent down in the Marine area, Sir.

The Detachment Commander heard some noises coming from the Lavatory and figured it was Commander Cypher. The sounds were undoubtedly flatulence! They were quite loud and made MCpt Lopez smirk as he waited for the next person to enter the room, be it the XO or somebody else. Chris was also looking forward to his lunch!
