Mission 2 - Investigate New Bajor's Silence

Daqtorgh heard Cmdr Ashborn's report that all stations reported in and were standing by and the Warp Core was ready for the ship to go to internal power. The Captain looked at the Ops Station and called out to Lt. Mitchell.

Capt Daqtorgh: Mr. Mitchell, secure us from external power and switch to internal. Time to prepare us for launch. Contact Dock Traffic Control to request clearance to the Space Doors. Once we're given clearance detach moorings and retract gangway.

The CO waited on the Chief Operations Officer to do what he was ordered before issuing any further commands to the Bridge crew. Daqtorgh admired the comradery of his crew and looked forward to the day when he would be included. Right now he was their Commanding Officer and it was time to launch Whitestar to New Bajor.

Bridge - Deck 1

Cole heard the Captain and did exactly what he said and switched Whitestar's power supply from external to the internals and then contacted Dock Traffic Control regarding their clearance to the Space Doors. Using the Companel on the Ops Console, the Lieutenant tapped the buttons to open communications between Whitestar and the DTC.

Lt. Mitchell: This is Whitestar requesting clearance to the Space Doors. We're all powered up with a crew ready to go!

A few seconds later, Dock Traffic Control responded.

SB34-DTC: This is Starbase 34 Dock Traffic Control, Whitestar you are cleared to the Space Doors as soon as you clear all moorings and retract the Gangway.

Lt. Mitchell: Understood, clearing the moorings and retracting the Gangway now!

The Chief Operations Officer immediately released the moorings and retracted the Gangway from the side of Whitestar's Docking Port on Deck 12. Cole was kind of embarrassed that he didn't follow procedure and release the moorings and retract the Gangway before calling in for clearance to the Space Doors. But he was just doing it in the order Capt Daqtorgh told him, so he followed his orders and didn't think to second guess them. Perhaps it was the way of the Klingon Defense Force to call for clearance before the ship can actually move anywhere? Be that as it may, Lt. Mitchell informed the Captain they were cleared to the Space Doors and the moorings and Gangway was cleared and retracted.

Lt. Mitchell: We're on internal power, moorings are cleared and Gangway is retracted, clearance to the Space Doors has been given! We're ready to go, Sir!

With that said, Cole waited for the Captain to give more orders that would get them moving towards the doors that lead out to space. Even though the Lieutenant got no down time at all from his mission aboard Event Horizon, he was happy to be back aboard Whitestar and alongside his buddy that he's known his whole life practically. Together, they would do all they could to make this mission a success!

Daqtorgh tried to contain his excitement of returning to space as he stood up to give the next set of orders which will take them out into the Gamma Quadrant. Before giving his next set of orders to Lt. Thomas, the Captain thanked Lt. Mitchell for his efficient work at getting Whitestar ready to depart.

Capt Daqtorgh: Thank you Mr. Mitchell. Mr Thomas, take us to the Space Doors if you will. Maneuvering thrusters, full reverse. Take us out of the berth nice, slow and easy, we don't want to damage the repairs that were just done. As soon as we are clear of Starbase 34's Approach Control Area set a course for New Bajor, Warp 9.

The CO looked over at the Yeoman as could see the excited smile on his face, before he used the small console by his chair to calculate the amount of time it would take them to reach New Bajor.

Capt Daqtorgh: Are you ready to go into space, Ensign?

Daqtorgh then looked at the Ops Station and gave Lt. Mitchell another order.

Capt Daqtorgh: Mr. Mitchell, send a message to Commodore Carpathia that we will be at New Bajor in just under 2 hours once we engage the Warp Drive.

With all the CO's orders given, Daqtorgh watched and waited for his orders to be carried out. The Captain still hid his excitement at being in command of an Akira Class Starship from the Bridge crew. Daqtorgh always was a major fan of the overall design, more so than even the KDF's Negh'Var Class Heavy Battlecruiser.

Dylan was happy to oblige Capt Daqtorgh's orders and used the maneuvering thrusters at full reverse to back Whitestar from it's berth. The Lieutenant smiled to himself as he made sure not to put any scratches on the exterior of the ship per the Captain's orders.

Lt. Thomas: Thrusters at full reverse, Captain.

In a steady motion, the ship moved seamlessly from where it was docked, to the open area inside Space Dock where Lt. Thomas rotated the Akira Class vessel on it's axis so he could point the bow towards the Space Doors.

Lt. Thomas: Rotation complete, Sir. Thrusters at full forward.

The Lieutenant piloted Whitestar right down the lit path to the Space Doors, which began to open slowly before them on the Main Viewscreen. In a few minutes they cleared the doors and were in SB34's Approach Control Area.

SB34: This is Approach Control to Whitestar, you are clear to maneuver using one quarter Impulse Power till you reach the outer markers. Once you're there, Warp Speed is at your discretion. May the wind be at your backs, Approach Control out.

Dylan shutdown power to the maneuvering thrusters and brought the Impulse Engines online and powered them up to one quarter. As the distance between SB34 and Whitestar grew at a steady pace, the Lieutenant informed Capt Daqtorgh of their status.

Lt. Thomas: Now moving at one quarter Impulse Power towards the outer markers, Captain.

It wasn't long before the outer markers appeared on the Main Viewscreen and in a few short minutes they were beyond them. Dylan powered down the Impulse Engines and brought the Warp Engines online.

Lt. Thomas: Warp Engines online, Captain. Warp 9, engaged!

As Whitestar jumped to Warp Speed, Dylan's heart was pounding with excitement. This was the vessel he really enjoyed piloting and all the systems operated with such familiarity. The Lieutenant was quite impressed with the Flight Control Station of the newly repaired Bridge of his Akira Class vessel.

Luis was visibly excited when they jumped to Warp speed, but he heard the Captain ask if he was ready for space before they left SB34. The Yeoman was just too excited to reply to Capt Daqtorgh and for that he was very sorry.

Ens Garcia: I am so sorry, Captain. I meant to reply sooner but I was just so excited to be launching from Starbase 34 that I was too stunned to speak. Yes, I am quite ready to go into space Sir.

The Ensign was hopeful he was not going to feel the back of the Klingon Captain's hand across his face for not responding to his question fast enough. Klingons were notorious for striking fellow officers that lacked in their duties and Luis just could not help being so excited to be on the Bridge of Whitestar at this moment. Now the Ensign was sitting there in fear that he was going to be backhanded for not being diligent in his duty.

Cole did what the Captain ordered and used his console to type up his message and send it to Como Carpathia so he would be aware of how long it would be till Whitestar reached New Bajor. That way the Commodore would be fully aware of their progress.

Lt. Mitchell: Message sent to Commodore Carpathia, Captain.

The Lieutenant continued monitoring his console for anomalies of any kind in Whitestar's systems as they were moving towards New Bajor at Warp 9. Since the highest rated speed of their vessel was Warp 9.8 that could be sustained for 12 hours, they were moving at an acceptable speed for the amount of time it would take to reach their destination. But the Chief Operations Officer made sure Whitestar wasn't going too fast for too long that it became unsafe for the ship and the crew.

Daqtorgh was thankful to his crew for getting Whitestar launched in just under an hour and expressed his gratitude towards them.

Capt Daqtorgh: Thank you for your great team work! With it, we were able to be launched in just under an hour!

The Captain was still standing from earlier so he announced to the Bridge crew that the Senior Staff meeting would be in 10 minutes. Daqtorgh then looked towards the Yeoman and made him aware of his intentions as well.

Capt Daqtorgh: Senior Staff meeting will be in the Conference Room in ten minutes. Ensign, I want you there so we can introduce you to everyone. Also, send messages to Commander Cypher, Counselor Ho and Dr. Tudismaque about the briefing as well. I look forward to seeing you all there.

The CO took his seat on the Command Deck and waited for the Bridge crew to log out of their consoles and make their way to the Conference Room. Daqtorgh also looked over at Ens Garcia to make sure he was using his PADD to send the messages to the Senior Staff members that were not currently on the Bridge, to attend the meeting. The Captain could see that the young boy was very intimidated and was practically shaking as he sent the messages. Daqtorgh would have to address this in a more personal setting. The Bridge was not the place, nor would the briefing in the Conference Room.

Luis was holding his PADD with one hand as he typed messages to the Chief Engineer, the Counselor and the Doctor. Occasionally his hands would start shaking as he continued wincing at the possibility of receiving an impact to his face from the Captain. Once the messages were sent, the Yeoman informed Capt Daqtorgh.

Ens Garcia: I have informed Commander Cypher, Counselor Ho and Dr. Tudismaque to be at the briefing in the Conference Room in 10 minutes, Sir.

The Ensign hoped this information would turn the Captain's focus from striking the boy to being focused on the meeting itself. Another scary thought Luis had was if the Captain wanted to be alone with him somewhere. The Yeoman's thoughts raced of the large Klingon beating him to death and not even being stopped by anyone witnessing the attack. This made the Ensign want to use the closest restroom to urinate so he would not mess up his uniform.

The Captain could see Ens Garcia trembling as he was waiting on Daqtorgh to respond to the Yeoman regarding the messages he sent to the absent members of the Senior Staff. The CO tried to put the Ensign at ease when he replied.

Capt Daqtorgh: Thank you Ensign, for your diligent work. After the meeting I’d like you to stay in the Conference Room so we can talk.

Daqtorgh got up from his chair on the Bridge and walked to Conference Room and took his seat at the head of the table. As the Captain waited for the Senior Staff to arrive, he looked at the PADD he was ready to take notes on regarding the briefing.

The XO got up from his seat and smiled as he looked at the frightened Yeoman. Chase could tell the boy did not want to be alone with the Captain, so he invited the Ensign to accompany him to the Conference Room.

Cmdr Ashborn: You can come with me, Luis. I'll keep an eye on you.

Together they walked to the Conference Room and the Commander took a seat near the head of the table while the Yeoman took the seat right next to him. There was still fear in the boy's eyes and this bothered the XO, so much so that it had to be dealt with relatively soon. After the briefing, Chase was going to speak to Capt Daqtorgh about this. It was not right to have the kid terrified of making a mistake, if the Yeoman complained about this to the members of the Admiralty it would make Daqtorgh look like a mad tyrant.
