Mission 2 - Rescue Mission to New Bajor

The Admiral entered Sutherland from the Docking Port and immediately went up to the Bridge using the Turbolift. Upon exiting, Aeryck saw that all the stations were manned by Flag Officers and Administrative Personnel. Walking over to the center chair, Adm Arayuss took a seat between VAdm Martinelli who was sitting in the XO's seat and Lt. JG Russ seated in the auxiliary chair.

Adm Arayuss: What is the status of the core, Tony? How soon can we depart?

The Commander in Chief waited to hear back from VAdm Martinelli as he looked around and saw MGen Alderez at the Strategic Operations Station, LtCmdr Joffee at the Science Station, Lt. Tyler at the Security/Tactical Station and a Lieutenant and an Ensign he did not know seated at Flight Control and Operations. It was a safe assumption that LtCmdr Ellis was down in Main Engineering getting Sutherland ready to launch.

Bridge - Deck 1

Tony was happy to see Adm Arayuss on the Bridge and ready to depart for New Bajor. According to the report VAdm Martinelli got from LtCmdr Ellis on his console by the XO's chair, Sutherland's core was running at full capacity! They were completely ready to launch, the crew was at their stations throughout the ship.

VAdm Martinelli: Core is fully operational, Admiral! We can depart anytime you're ready, Sir!

The Chief of Fleet Operations was excited to be on a Starship again! He hadn't been the XO of a vessel in quite some time, so Tony was really looking forward to the experience. It was just a shame that they were going to New Bajor for the reason expressed. The Vice Admiral was really worried about the people in the colony of New Bajor and hoped they would arrive in time to save as many of the colonists they possibly could.

Hearing that Sutherland was ready to depart was like music to Aeryck’s pointed ears! Tony must have had LtCmdr Ellis working on the Warp Core from the moment the Chief Engineer came aboard. The Admiral was pleased that he had chosen VAdm Martinelli for his XO aboard this Nebula Class Starship. But be that as it may, it was time to get the ship out of Space Dock and on its way to New Bajor. Aeryck spoke aloud for all on the Bridge to hear his voice.

Adm Arayuss: All hands, prepare for departure! Ensign Toretto, retract the Gangway and clear all moorings, then contact Dock Traffic Control and inform them we need emergency clearance to the Space Doors on my authority! Lieutenant O’Conner, standby to take us out at one-quarter Impulse power!

Ens Toretto: Yes, Admiral!

The Ensign retracted the Gangway and cleared all moorings before she contacted Dock Traffic Control immediately and got the clearance they needed to depart immediately. Looking over to her right, Mia informed Adm Arayuss they had the clearance he ordered as she waited on Lt. O’Conner to see how he was going to handle leaving Space Dock at Impulse power.

Ens Toretto: We have got clearance, Sir!

Adm Arayuss: Thank you, Ensign! Lieutenant O’Conner, take us out!

Lt. O’Conner: Yes, Sir!

The Lieutenant did not have to worry about backing the ship out of its berth since it was already facing the right direction. Since it was a straight shot to the Space Doors, Brian activated the Impulse Engines and began to move them forward slowly at first, but when they were clear of the berth the Lieutenant increase speed to ¼ Impulse power which shot them through the open doors in just a few seconds.

Lt. O’Conner: We are clear of the Space Doors, Admiral! Free to navigate to the Outer Markers, Sir!

The Admiral tapped the Companel on the arm of his chair and contacted SB34 Approach Control himself, not because he felt Ens Toretto was incapable, but because time was of the essence.

Adm Arayuss:: Approach Control, this is Admiral Arayuss aboard Sutherland. I need clearance to the Outer Markers, we will be jumping to Warp immediately!

SB34 Approach Control: Sutherland, this is Approach Control. Emergency clearance has been approved, Admiral. You are clear to use Warp Speed immediately, Sir. Safe Journey!

Adm Arayuss: Thank you, Approach Control! Lieutenant O’Conner, set a course for New Bajor, accelerate to Warp 9.8…now!

Lt. O’Conner: Aye, Sir!

Brian brought the Warp Drive online and in a flash of light, Sutherland jumped to Warp Speed only a few hundred meters outside of SB34. The Lieutenant brought the vessel to its maximum velocity in just under a few minutes and reported it to the Admiral.

Lt. O’Conner: We are at Warp 9.8, Admiral! Our ETA to New Bajor is thirty-five minutes, Sir!

Aeryck was happy that they were underway and moving as fast as Sutherland could take them. Since the ship could maintain this speed for 12 hours, they were in no danger of stressing the limitations of this vessel. The Admiral ordered Ens Toretto to send a message to Infiniti right away so they were know they were on their way, along with Sutherland’s ETA to New Bajor.

Adm Arayuss: Ensign, send a message to Infiniti informing Commodore Carpathia we are on our way, send him our course and speed along with our ETA to New Bajor!

Ens Toretto: Aye, Sir!

The Ensign used her console to quickly send the message to Infiniti per the Admiral’s order, containing all the information Adm Arayuss instructed Mia to send. Once the message was sent, the Chief Operations Officer reported this to the CO.

Ens Toretto: Message sent to Infiniti, Admiral!

Adm Arayuss: Excellent work everyone! Now we just have thirty-five minutes to wait before we arrive.

The Commanding Officer of Sutherland relaxed in the Captain’s Chair alongside VAdm Martinelli and Lt. JG Russ as he waited for the time to pass. The Admiral planned on making a note in his log how well Lt. O’Conner piloted Sutherland out of Space Dock at ¼ Impulse power. Aeryck could sense the Lieutenant always wanted to try that, so the Admiral figured there was no time like the present. Since they left SB34 so quickly, using a prohibited method of velocity, there could be consequences for using Impulse in the dock area. But since Adm Arayuss was the highest authority in Gamma Fleet, Aeryck would have to reprimand himself when they returned. Perhaps no desserts for a week!

Tony sat in the XO’s chair alongside Adm Arayuss in the CO’s chair and together they watched the stars streak by as they were traveling at Warp 9.8 to the Kotha Tremali System. According to the display, they were closing in on the system and Lt. O’Conner would have to slow Sutherland down so it didn’t go right passed New Bajor. VAdm Martinelli knew the Admiral would want to remain at Warp as close to their destination as possible, so they would need to drop to a lower Warp speed.

VAdm Martinelli: Mr. O’Conner, prepare to slow us down so we don’t miss New Bajor when we Warp into the system.

Lt. O’Conner: Aye, Sir! Slowing us down to Warp 6.5! Our ETA to New Bajor is three minutes, Admiral Martinelli!

The Lieutenant slowed Sutherland’s velocity so that while they moved through the system, they didn’t zip right passed their destination. Tony watched the stars continue to streak by as he thought about all the lives lost in the images sent by Capt Daqtorgh of Whitestar. One thing VAdm Martinelli knew, it was NOT the work of the Deltaurans. This had to be the work of something just as sinister! By the look on the Admiral’s face, it would appear that he had an idea of who the culprits were that killed the colonists in such a horrific manner. Tony had no idea what they were facing, what they would be dealing with and what was yet to come. This made the Vice Admiral quite nervous.

The Admiral kept his eyes forward and watched as Sutherland moved at Warp speed through the Kotha Tremali System towards New Bajor. In a short amount of time Lt. O'Connor dropped the Nebula Class Starship from Warp and everyone could see the planet with the Akira Class Starship, 2 Intrepid Class Starships and Sovereign Class Starship all in orbit above New Rakantha.

Adm Arayuss: Mr. O'Connor, bring us in and place us in orbit over New Rakantha.

The Lieutenant did exactly as the Admiral ordered and brought Sutherland into a geosynchronous orbit above the capital city.

Lt. O'Connor: Aye, Admiral. We're in orbit above New Rakantha, Sir.

Adm Arayuss: Thank you, Lieutenant. Ensign Toretto, I'm quite certain we'll be getting a hail from Whitestar welcoming us. When it comes in, put it straight through to me.

Ensign Toretto: Understood, Admiral.

Now all Aeryck had to do was sit and wait for Capt Daqtorgh to realize Sutherland was in orbit alongside the other ships of the fleet and hail them. As the CinC waited to hear from the Captain of Whitestar, Adm Arayuss looked at the PADD with the imagery of the murdered colonists. There were no signs of the beings that did all of this which was leading the Admiral to believe this was a very serious matter. One so serious that a meeting should be planned of all the CO's and XO's of the fleet so they could discuss their limited options. Aeryck would recommend this course of action once he finally heard from Capt Daqtorgh.

Tony was admiring the feeling of being aboard a Starship again when Ens Toretto announced the incoming hail from Whitestar. Since Adm Arayuss already told the officer to put it straight through to him, that is exactly what she did.

Capt Daqtorgh: Hello Admiral, welcome to New Bajor! The Conference Room aboard Whitestar is ready for you and Vice Admiral Martinelli, Commodore Carpathia and his XO from Infiniti and Captain Calzada and his XO from Oriskany. I'll await you with my XO, Commander Ashborn, in the Transporter Room.

The Vice Admiral smiled towards the Admiral as he rose up from the XO's seat on the Bridge and straightened out his uniform.

VAdm Martinelli: Looks like we're beaming over to Whitestar for the meeting, Admiral. I'm ready to head down to the Transporter Room when you are, Sir.

The Chief of Fleet Operations wondered who Adm Arayuss would leave in charge of the Bridge while they were aboard Whitestar discussing the situation down on New Bajor. Tony hoped they would discover a way to rescue anyone down on the planet, without jeopardizing the lives of anyone else. The Vice Admiral figured the best minds in Gamma Fleet were going to be at the meeting, except for Prof Brewer of course. His presence was surely going to be missed at the gathering of the Command Staff and the CO's and XO's.

Aeryck rose up from the CO's chair on Sutherland's Bridge and turned towards the rear of the Command Deck to address MGen Alderez who was monitoring the Strategic Operations Console. Even though the Major General was a Marine, he was the highest ranking officer on the Bridge that Adm Arayuss trusted to watch over the ship.

Adm Arayuss: You have the Bridge, Rex! I know it is unorthodox, but I really trust you. If anything develops, be sure to contact either Tony or myself immediately.

The Admiral turned towards VAdm Martinelli as he continued speaking.

Adm Arayuss: Come along, Tony! It is off to Whitestar we go!

The CinC lead the way to the Turbolift and took it down to Deck 6 where they exited and proceeded down the corridor to Transporter Room 1. Right when they entered the Transporter Chief stood at attention and asked where they wanted to be beamed to.

CPO Ferguson: Where can I transport the two of you, Sir?

The Admiral stepped up to the Transporter Pad, along with VAdm Martinelli, as Aeryck replied to the Chief Petty Officer.

Adm Arayuss: Beam Vice Admiral Martinelli and I over to Whitestar, Chief! They are waiting for us over there.

CPO Ferguson: Aye, Sir!

The Transporter Chief ran his fingers across the console and in a spectral array of light, both Adm Arayuss and VAdm Martinelli vanished from Transporter Room 1. The next place they would appear would be the Transporter Room aboard Whitestar where Capt Daqtorgh and Cmdr Ashborn would be waiting.

Transporter Room 1 - Deck 6

As the Admiral and Vice Admiral beamed aboard Sutherland, they quickly stepped off the Transporter Pads and gave a thankful nod to CPO Ferguson before leaving the room and heading for the Turbolift to bring them up to Deck 1. As they rode in the lift together, Tony wondered why Adm Arayuss had to go over to Explorer and how long was the Admiral going to be there. When the doors of the Turbolift opened, they walked out onto the Bridge together and saw MGen Alderez sitting in the center seat.

VAdm Martinelli: We have returned, Rex! Did anything occur in our absence?

Since the XO's chair was still vacant, Tony walked over and sat in his seat while waiting to see if MGen Alderez was going to rise up and allow Adm Arayuss to resume his duties as Commanding Officer of the USS Sutherland. VAdm Martinelli looked around the Bridge at the other officers at their stations and nothing seemed to be amiss, which gave Tony the impression both he and Adm Arayuss did not miss a thing while they were in the meeting aboard Whitestar.

Bridge - Deck 1

Seeing both Adm Arayuss and VAdm Martinelli enter the Bridge brought a sigh of relief from MGen Alderez since being in command of a Starship was something he had never done before. But under the circumstances, Rex understood while the Admiral had done it. The Major General got up from the CO's chair so that Adm Arayuss could take his seat next to VAdm Martinelli. While standing in front of the two Admirals, Rex filled them both in on the happenings while they were aboard Whitestar for the meeting with Como Carpathia, Capt Calzada and Capt Daqtorgh.

MGen Alderez: Not a thing occurred while you guys were over there. So...what's the plan Admiral? How are we going to rescue people we cannot find?

The Fleet Marine Force Commandant remained standing before Adm Arayuss and waited for him to respond. Rex was understandably curious to know how they were going to rescue the survivors of the Xenomorph outbreak on New Bajor and what was going to happen to the planet once the colonists were removed from the surface. The quarantine would have to last forever to keep anyone from coming here, which was a depressing thought since the planet used to be a really good place for a colony.

Aeryck took his seat that Rex just vacated and began to explain how they would be evacuating the colonists off New Bajor, along with the Xenomorph threat, the sending of the Marines and medical personnel from Infiniti, the removal of embryos and of course the use of the Genesis Device from Explorer to clean the planet from the Xenomorphs once and for all.

Adm Arayuss: We believe there’s a serious Xenomorph infestation down in New Rakantha so E.J. is sending his Squad of Marines down there, along with a medical team, this way those with an embryo in their chests can have them removed by Dr. Sarrlak and his team. We believe the survivors of the colony are hiding in the caves and tunnels below the surface of the city and with the subterranean deposits of thalium, it’s almost impossible to contact the colonists. That’s where Whitestar comes in. Captain Daqtorgh has taken on the task of finding the appropriate frequency that will penetrate the thalium in the caves so we can broadcast a transmission to them that we’re up here ready to evacuate them. Once everyone is off New Bajor, I’ll be going over to Explorer and using a Genesis Device to wipe out the Xenomorph population and create a new fertile planet for colonization. It’s the only way we can be sure that every one of those things is eradicated from the planet. I know all the structures will be obliterated as well, but that’s the price to be paid for the complete annihilation of those creatures. That’s the plan in a nutshell, Rex. What are your thoughts, General?

The Admiral remained in his chair, looking up at MGen Alderez, waiting for him to react to all that he had heard. Aeryck was sure it was a lot for Rex to process and that he would have something to say about everything the CinC told him. Looking over at VAdm Martinelli, the Admiral could see by Tony’s raised eyebrows that he too was absorbing everything he heard from Adm Arayuss. Since the Vice Admiral was there at the meeting aboard Whitestar, there must have been too much information going on for him to grasp all at once, so if Tony had any inquiries as well, Aeryck was there to answer his questions along with anything Rex wanted to know.
