Docking Port - Deck 6 - USS Eureka  Reply with quote

The Commander returned the Captain's smile as she granted permission to her CO, allowing Capt Sull to come aboard Eureka.

Cmdr Bennet: Permission granted, Captain! Welcome aboard! I find if I just say "Bridge" in the Turbolift, it takes me straight to Deck Two without me having to think twice about which deck it's on. What's really odd is knowing that my cabin is on Deck One, right down the corridor from yours.

Remaining where the XO was standing when Lt. Benz came aboard, it allowed Capt Sull the clearance to step through the Docking Port and enter the USS Eureka. That way they could go to the Bridge together, where Adm Boday could transfer command of the California Class vessel over to Capt Sull.

Azeri stepped through the opening on to Deck 6 as she listened intently to the XO.

Capt Sull: It's like someone took an MSD and shook it all about. Did you know it comes with an Air-Gapped Terminal that only has access ODN's to Main Engineering?

The Captain indicated to the Executive Officer to lead the way as they continued their reparté.

Claire smiled towards Capt Sull as she responded to what she said about the Air-Gapped Terminal that only had access ODN's to Main Engineering, while leading the way to the Bridge.

Cmdr Bennet: It keeps the system in Engineering safe, I know that. But I haven’t really seen it in action yet. Follow me to the Bridge, Captain.

As they walked together to the Turbolift, Cmdr Bennet instructed the lift to take them both to the Bridge. On their arrival, they stepped out and could see Adm Boday waiting on them. Claire walked up to the Admiral and introduced him to Capt Sull, his replacement for command of the USS Eureka.

Cmdr Bennet: Admiral Boday, this is Captain Azeri Sull! Captain Sull, this is Admiral Boday! He’s been in temporary command of Eureka.

The XO waited for the Admiral and Captain to exchange the usual pleasantries before the transfer of command took place. Afterwards, the Admiral would be disembarking Eureka for Deep Space Nine and awaiting transport back to Starbase 375.

Azeri followed Claire to the Turbolift and then eventually, on to the Bridge. The Captain could see a brutish looking man with his back towards them, his transparent skull showing clear brain matter gray... This must be Adm Boday, Azeri held out her right hand as they approached the man, who left it hanging and continued his brutish attitude.

Capt Sull: Admiral, it's a pleasure...

The Admiral cut her off during her pleasantries.

Adm Boday: Let's make this fast, eh? I have a tee time in under and hour and I need time to see Dr. Bashir to collect on a bet!

Azeri looked at Cmdr Bennet and then back to the Admiral.

Capt Sull: By all means, Admiral we would never wish to hold up your recreational activity time.

Over the next few moments, the Admiral transferred Command Codes and Shipboard Databases to Capt Sull, almost rushing through the affair as to what would be considered a normal transference. After which, Azeri sat in the Center Chair as the Admiral left the ship. The Captain turned towards Cmdr Bennett and inquired of her...

Capt Sull: Second star to the right and straight on through the wormhole?

Azeri was just glad to be underway, on their way to the Great Unexplored...

Claire smiled at the reference to Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie as she stood beside Capt Sull. It was now time to disembark from DS9 and make their way through the wormhole and venture towards SB34. Looking over to the Ops Station the XO informed Ens Ramius it was time to release Eureka from the Space Station's Upper Pylon 3 Docking Port.

Cmdr Bennet: Mr. Ramius! Disengage Eureka from the the Docking Port! It's time for us to make like a baby and head-out!

Looking over towards the Flight Control Station where Lt. Gutierrez was sitting, Claire continued giving orders.

Cmdr Bennet: Mr. Gutierrez! Prepare Maneuvering Thrusters to move us away from the station and then one-quarter Impulse to the wormhole!

The Executive Officer looked over at Capt Sull to inquire if there was anything else...

Cmdr Bennet: Is there anything else, Captain, or do I have it all covered?

The XO waited on hearing from Capt Sull, Lt. Gutierrez and Ens Ramius before Claire would feel comfortable taking her seat on the Bridge. Now that Adm Boday was off Eureka, she could finally relax. The Admiral was very arrogant and boorish in the way he spoke to Claire, so she was very happy to be assigned to Gamma Fleet and be under the jurisdiction of Adm Arayuss on SB34.

Azeri nodded in reply to the XO's query.

Capt Sull: No, I think you have it all in hand, Commander... And anything else, we can leave it in the Hands of the Prophets...

The Captain thought momentarily and wondered if the Prophets, being transdimensional beings, even had hands...

Capt Sull: Lieutenant Gutiérrez, it's Boot Time!

The Captain turned back to Cmdr Bennett, and indicated she could give the final orders to make haste to SB34.

Marko followed the orders of Cmdr Bennet and sealed the airlocks, between DS9's Upper Pylon 3 and the Docking Port on Deck 6. When that was complete, the Ensign then used Eureka's magnetic generator to send a pulse to break the seal between the station and the California Class vessel.

Ens Ramius: Eureka has been disengaged from the Docking Port, Commander. We're free to move away from Deep Space Nine using Maneuvering Thrusters at this time, Ma'am.

The Ensign looked over towards Lt. Gutiérrez and whispered to the Chief Flight Control Officer.

Ens Ramius: Time to get us out of here, Lieutenant.

The Chief Operations Officer smiled as he watched the Main Viewscreen to see DS9 move away from them, ever so slowly at first. This meant they would all be far away from the likes of Adm Boday! His arrogance was so overbearing that Marko wondered how a man like that could remain in Starfleet for so long and not be discharged for all the personality flaws the Admiral had. Ens Ramius was very relieved to be leaving Adm Boday behind and Marko was very sure he was not alone in the sentiment.

With a smile on his face, Mateo did as Cmdr Bennet had ordered and used the Maneuvering Thrusters to move Eureka from the area of DS9's Upper Pylons. As the California Class vessel cleared the space station, the Lieutenant engaged the Impulse Engines at one-quarter speed. As Eureka got closer to the wormhole the grand opening appeared in all its magnificence.

Lt. Gutiérrez: We're on final approach to the wormhole, Commander Bennet! We'll be entering in five-four-three-two-one-mark!

As Eureka entered the wormhole, it was traveling to the orifice on the other side of the galaxy, the Gamma Quadrant!

Lt. Gutiérrez: We're through, Commander! Should I set a course for Starbase 34?

The Chief Flight Control Officer listened for his next order from Cmdr Bennet since the XO was the one giving the commands right now per Capt Sull's indication. Since SB34 was still a distance away, using Warp Speed would be the normal way for them to cover that kind of distance.

While standing beside Capt Sull on the Bridge, the Commander called out to both Lt. Gutiérrez and Ens Ramius to thank them for their services. Claire also issued orders to the Lieutenant to take them to SB34 at Warp Speed and the Ensign for continuous scans along the way.

Cmdr Bennet: Thank you both for getting us away from Deep Space Nine. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was happy to get some distance between Admiral Boday and ourselves. Mr. Gutiérrez, ahead to Starbase 34...Warp Six! Mr. Ramius, while we're on our way to our new base of operations, run continuous scans of the areas we pass so we'll know what's going on in this quadrant of the galaxy. That way we don't arrive oblivious to what is going on out here.

Looking over towards Capt Sull, Claire continued...

Cmdr Bennet: Captain, would you like to take a seat? Or would you rather go to your Ready Room and make an entry into the Captain's Log?

The XO waited on what Capt Sull's decision was going to be before taking a seat herself. So Claire just stood there beside her Captain and waited silently. Also, Cmdr Bennet waited to hear back from both Lt. Gutiérrez and Ens Ramius on acknowledging their new orders. The Commander was looking forward to arriving at SB34 and seeing it for the first time. Claire was also looking forward to meeting Adm Arayuss, whom she heard was very compassionate and not at all like Adm Boday.

Azeri turned back to Cmdr Bennett and shook her head.

Capt Sull: No... My logs can wait, I'd like to see what's going to happen here... Space is never empty or calm, after all...

The Captain took a few steps and sat in the Center Chair.

Capt Sull: Ensign Ramius, put your instrumentation results on the Main Screen, continuous active scans.

The CO waited on the other officers' replies and relaxed into the chair waiting to see... Whatever Eureka could see around them...
