SB34 :: Space Dock  Reply with quote

As he watched the officers on the Bridge secure their stations, he walked to his Ready Room to finish his mission log. He was quite pleased that it ended well. He retrieved a beverage from the replicator and sat at his desk. He looked out the window at the interior of the Space Dock and felt secure that he brought his ship and crew home safely.

Before he began on his log, there was a matter he needed to attend to. Commendations and promotions for his fine officers and crew. He started on that as he drank his beverage.

The XO got up and looked over at Yeoman Panettiere.

Cmdr Calzada: So, it would seem that you're after my job.

He eyed the young crewman from top to bottom and waited for his response.

He was taken back by the XO's challenging remark, but stood his ground.

Cmnr Panettiere: I'm not after your job, Sir.

He nodded his head towards the Captain's Ready Room.

Cmnr Panettiere: I'm after his.

He smiled and looked the XO right in the eye.

The XO let out a hardy laugh.

Cmdr Calzada: Fair enough, Mr. Panettiere. Fair enough.

He watched the other officers exit the Bridge, and he did the same. He looked back and saw the Yeoman, standing by the CO's chair.

Cmdr Calzada: Are you going to stay here, Yeoman?

He stepped into the turbolift and waited for his response.

He looked over to the XO and responded.

Cmnr Panettiere: My place is with the Captain. I go, when he goes.

He stood there proudly by the CO's chair on the Bridge.

The XO smiled and responded at the turbolift doors closed.

Cmdr Calzada: As you were then, Yeoman.

He went to his quarters and gathered a few things he wanted to take with him before he went over to SB34. He was very pleased how things turned out. This was more than a crew, this was a family. One that he was proud to be a member of.

Bath'Ney grabbed his reports of the misson on the asteroid and of the creature that managed to get inside Infiniti, and figured he would bring them to the Captain before he left for SB34. He taps his combadge to be certain the CO was available.

MCapt Bath'Ney: Bathney to Captain, I have my misson reports for you to add to your report. May I drop them by?

He waits for a response.

The CO looked up the console at his desk and responded to the MDC.

Capt Carpathia: That would be grand, Mr. Bath'Ney. Bring them by.

He continued working and waited for the MDC to arrive.

Bath'Ney hears the CO's response, and makes his way to the Bridge. He noticed that it was deserted, and all the stations had been placed in their standby modes. As he crossed the Bridge to the Ready Room, he saw Yeoman Panettiere standing by the CO's chair.

MCapt Bath'Ney: I see that you are feeling better. How did you like your first mission and what will you tell your family about it?

He stopped in his path and waited for him to respond.

He looked over at the Klingon and responded.

Cmnr Panettiere: This mission has been the best experience of my life. I've done things I never thought I would do this early in my life. When we left Starbase 34, I was bringing the Captain his mobile log recorder. Today I watched a creature emerge from a Bridge officer's stomach, searched the cooling duct system for it, persued it, exterminated it, and docked the Infiniti inside it's berth in here. As for family to tell...

He looked down.

Cmnr Panettiere: They were killed a few years ago, during the Dominion War. Our ship was attacked by the Jem'Haddar. There was only a few survivors. I really don't like to talk about it...sorry.

He looked back at the MDC to see if he had any further questions.
