When Andrea heard the reply from Adm Arayuss she politely and with respect for the Captain, motioned for the CO of Whitestar to enter the Office of the Commander in Chief.

Lt. JG Russ: I am glad you're not going to be like that lush, Captain Zh'Osha. I know the crew of Whitestar will be very happy in your hands. The Admiral is ready to see you now, Captain. Please enter through that door, Sir.

The Lieutenant JG used her desk terminal to contact Cmdr Ashborn to let him know Capt Daqtorgh was aboard SB34 and meeting with Adm Arayuss at the moment. The Yeoman would be escorting the Captain down to the Spacedock to board Whitestar in less than an hour, so the XO should prepare for the CO's arrival.

The Captain nodded to Lt. JG Russ as he walked into the CinC’s office. The first thing he noticed was how spacious the office was and the spectacular view from the windows of the nebula in the distance. Daqtorgh looked at the Admiral standing behind his desk and noticed the pointed ears and the large dark eyes and thought to himself The Admiral really is a Romulan/Betazoid Hybrid. The Captain smiled knowing of the Admiral’s history from the PADD he had with him on the ride aboard the Runabout from DS9 to SB34. Daqtorgh knew the Admiral might be small in stature, but was a formidable warrior of the likes of any Klingon House. The Klingon Captain noticed a young Ensign in the office as well as he stood at attention and introduced himself to Adm Arayuss.


Capt Daqtorgh: Captain Daqtorgh, reporting as ordered, Admiral! It’s with honor that you grace me with the command of the Starship USS Whitestar! I will make it a ship of honor and there will be no alcohol on my ship unless we are in ceremony! We are most certainly not a crew of drunken pirates singing, ‘Yo-Ho-Ho and a bottle of rum!’


The honorable Klingon looked over towards the Ensign standing by the sofa and addressed him as well.


Capt Daqtorgh: Ensign, tell me about yourself, that way I can better use your knowledge. I will help make you a mighty warrior, it’s not going be an easy job but you will learn to be the best officer you can be.


The Captain stood there at attention and waited on the Admiral to address him and give him orders for his first mission aboard Whitestar when it was completely repaired from the last mission it was deployed on. Daqtorgh noticed the Ensign was somewhat intimidated by his presence and gave him a kind smile so the young one would not be frightened of his new Captain.

The Admiral nodded out of respect to the Klingon Captain as he shook Daqtorgh’s hand and welcomed him to Gamma Fleet. Aeryck had a feeling this officer would always try to do his best and never take his crew for granted. Plus the very fact his father is a Dahar Master showed the CinC that this Klingon’s word was his bond. This meant Daqtorgh would rather die than break his word to Adm Arayuss and anyone else he gave his word to. The last thing the Captain would ever do would be to bring dishonor to his House and his father.

Adm Arayuss: Welcome to Gamma Fleet, Captain. We are honored to have the son of a Dahar Master with us. Your first mission aboard Whitestar, unfortunately, will not be an easy one. However, from what I read in your file, you are perfect for the position and this mission.

Looking over towards Ens Garcia, Aeryck took it upon himself to introduce the Yeoman of USS Whitestar to Capt Daqtorgh.

Adm Arayuss: Over here we have Ensign Luis Antonio Garcia, Whitestar’s Yeoman. The Ensign will be escorting you back to your ship and getting you settled into your Quarters and your Ready Room. Some members of your crew are still aboard USS Event Horizon, so you will need to wait on them to return before you launch out of the Space Doors. Here’s a PADD with all of the systems that have already been repaired, and the ongoing repairs as well. Commander Ashborn, your First Officer, has been overseeing the repairs since Capt Zh’Osha has been too intoxicated or hung-over to do it herself.

The CinC took the PADD with the data on Whitestar’s repairs and handed it over to Capt Daqtorgh for him to look over at his convenience. Aeryck remained quiet and allowed the Yeoman to answer the Captain’s inquiry regarding the information about him. The young Yeoman looked incredibly nervous, so the Admiral used his abilities to calm the Ensign’s mind so that he could converse with his new Captain. Now that the mind of Ens Garcia was calm, Aeryck expected Luis to start telling Capt Daqtorgh all about himself.

The Ensign felt a surge of confidence and no longer had any trepidation in speaking to Capt Daqtorgh. Luis actually walked up to the large Klingon Captain and held out his hand in order to shake hands with his new CO. The Captain no longer seemed intimidating to the Yeoman, so speaking up about himself was no longer an issue.

Ens Garcia: ¡Hola! Mi Capitán! As you know, my name is Luis Antonio Garcia, I’m an Ensign and this is my first assignment in Starfleet! I will be your Yeoman for as long as you will have me! I am from Cancún, Quintana Roo, México where my parents are the operations managers at the Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula, which is on the Yucatán Peninsula! It is a beautiful five star resort! That is where I grew up and had a lot of fun riding Waverunners in the Caribbean Sea! I joined Starfleet as soon as I could so I could see the stars and explore new words, to seek out new life and new civilizations! To boldly go where no Mexican has gone before!

The Yeoman laughed at his own joke as he stood there still holding his hand out for Capt Daqtorgh to shake it. Luis began to wonder if he somehow offended the Captain or was shaking hands with somebody who was just an Ensign considered being a too menial or worse, what if it was because Ens Garcia was a Mexican? There was still some racism in the galaxy so the Yeoman hoped that was not the case with Capt Daqtorgh. Luis still held his hand out and waited to see what the Klingon Captain was going to do with it. The Ensign hoped for the best, but was prepared for the worst.

Daqtorgh grabbed Ens Garcia’s hand and gave it a warm, brisk shake. The Captain was just so blown away how the Yeoman went from being shy and flowing with fear, to a bold and brave Ensign, that he was taken back while hearing Luis talk about himself. So to make up for the delay in their hand shaking, Daqtorgh gave Ens Garcia a warm and friendly handshake while speaking to the young Yeoman.

Capt Daqtorgh: It’s a pleasure to have you aboard, Ensign. Your background is really interesting, especially regarding the Waverunners in the Caribbean Sea! It really sounds like a lot of fun! We are both here because the Admiral requested our presence, so I’d like to get to know more about you, perhaps over a fountain drink or whatever you like. I personally will have a Raktajino since a Captain is only as good as the crew he has around them. Always remember this Klingon Proverb, ‘If a Klingon ignores duty, acts dishonorably, or is disloyal, he is nothing!’ Welcome aboard and I would prefer that you enjoy yourself aboard Whitestar, my Ready Room is always available to you if you need anything.

The Klingon Captain waited to hear if Ens Garcia had anything else to add to the conversation, if Luis did not, Daqtorgh would turn his attention back to Adm Arayuss to hear what mission Whitestar would have once it launched. Whatever it was, the Captain would swear on his honor to complete the mission in the most desirable way possible. This Klingon was calculated and calm, not reckless like so many of his brother warriors in the Klingon Defense Force. Daqtorgh planned on becoming a Dahar Master himself one day and acting like a fool would impede such an appointment. Therefore it was in Capt Daqtorgh’s self interests to follow the Proverb he quoted to Luis for himself as well.

Luis was impressed with the honor and kindness Capt Daqtorgh showed him in the Admiral's office. The Ensign still had no idea where the bravery and confidence came from that gave him the ability to speak so openly to the Captain, but wherever it came from, Luis was thankful for it.

Ens Garcia: Gracias, mi Capitán! I will definitely do all that I can to live up to your expectations of me! I memorized the Klingon Proverb and it is written across my heart so I will always live by it, Sir!

The Yeoman could sense that it was time to let Adm Arayuss and Capt Daqtorgh finish their conversation, that way Luis could escort the Captain back to his Quarters aboard Whitestar. Once Capt Daqtorgh was settled in his new home, the Ensign would bring the Captain up to the Bridge so he could make use of his Ready Room and get to know Cmdr Ashborn in the process.

The Admiral could see that their conversation had concluded for the time being which would allow Aeryck to finish what he had to say to Capt Daqtorgh before he and Ens Garcia left for Whitestar in the Spacedock berths. The CinC could also sense that Luis was bewildered over where his sudden bravery came from when he introduced himself to the Captain. Aeryck thought it would be best to let the Yeoman believe it came from within, rather than inform him that it was artificially implanted into his head.

Adm Arayuss: I am quite pleased that you two are getting along so well. As for your mission, once the repairs are completed and your officers’ return from their mission aboard Event Horizon, your mission will be assigned by the Division One Commander, Commodore E.J. Carpathia. He is in charge of the missions in Gamma Fleet. If you have any questions about your mission, he will be able to field anything you need to know regarding it. You are both dismissed, again welcome to the fleet…I hope you both enjoy yourselves out here in the Gamma Quadrant.

With the Captain and his Yeoman dismissed, they were free to make their way to Whitestar so Daqtorgh could get settled in. It would not be long before the Akira Class Starship would be ready to launch into the Gamma Quadrant. What was not known was how long Event Horizon’s mission was going to take before they returned. As far as Aeryck knew, there had been no contact with them since the memorial service for Capt Adonis. The Admiral hoped all was going well, but he had a feeling that was not the case. The CinC may just have to have a meeting with FAdm Skyner and discuss his feelings about the clandestine mission being a failure and Event Horizon being in dire need of assistance.

The Captain nodded to Adm Arayuss as he understood it was time for the Yeoman to escort him to the USS Whitestar so he could get settled.

Capt Daqtorgh: Yeoman Garcia, lead the way to my Quarters aboard Whitestar so we can drop off my baggage and then we’ll go up to the Bridge. I would like you to find Commander Ashborn and bring him to my Ready Room.

The large Klingon followed behind Ens Garcia and as they walked he wondered what his Quarters would be like on Whitestar, Daqtorgh hoped it would be more spacious than his small guest room on DS9.

Capt Daqtorgh: Yeoman, when we get to my Quarters I would like your ideas and suggestions for its decor. If you don’t mind?

They walked together down the corridor to the Turbolifts and left the Administrative Level for the Spacedock. It wouldn’t take them long to reach the Observation Lounge where they would go up the Gangway to the USS Whitestar…

As Aeryck was going over the forms on his computer that transferred command of Whitestar from Capt Pi’Lar Zh’Osha to Capt Daqtorgh, he received an incoming message from USS Explorer. The message was flagged as IMPERATIVE so Adm Arayuss immediately acknowledged the incoming transmission from his vessel.

Explorer-Com: Admiral, I just received a message from Event Horizon! They are in distress and in need of immediate assistance! They are located in the Trivas System of the C-57D Universe! Recommend that I use the TDD to get to their location and perform a rescue mission!

The Admiral was not sure if he should inform FAdm Skyner and ask if Explorer should go in and rescue Event Horizon from their plight or would the Fleet Admiral inform him to stay out of it. The CinC thought for a moment and then said To Hell with it! and replied to Explorer’s sentient computer.

Adm Arayuss: Explorer, get there as fast as possible and save everyone you can! Arayuss out!

The CinC immediately left his office and quickly went down the corridor to the Office of the Division 1 Commander to speak with his longtime friend. Como Carpathia was always wise about such things, like matters of the heart, so the Romulan/Betazoid Hybrid sought the wisdom of his XO from their days together aboard Explorer.

The Commodore followed Adm Arayuss into his office and took a seat on the sofa as they waited to hear word from Explorer on the rescue of Event Horizon. E.J. was really worried about his friends and crew members of Infiniti and hoped they would come home safe and sound. The Commodore looked towards Adm Arayuss and asked him if he had any insight into the situation going on in Universe C-57D.

Como Carpathia: Do you have any insight as to what's happening to the crew of Event Horizon, Admiral? Did Explorer make it in time to save them from a horrible fate at the hands of the Emerald Chain? I am understandably curious, Sir.

The Division 1 Commander couldn't concentrate on anything other than getting the crew of Event Horizon back home safely. The Commodore knew fully well of the abilities of Explorer and was aware of all the vessels in Starfleet, that ship was the most versatile and well versed as a weapon alongside with being a defensive tool against any foe. If there was any ship from the Federation that could save the crew of Event Horizon, it would be the USS Explorer.
