Bridge - Deck 1  Reply with quote

After reading up on New Bajor and how communication with the colony was lost, Chase thought about what kind of ideas or suggestions he may have. Since they hadn't left for New Bajor yet, Cmdr Ashborn really didn't have much to offer Capt Daqtorgh at this time so he apologized for his lack of experience in the matter.

Cmdr Ashborn: I'm sorry, Captain. I don't have any ideas or suggestions at this time, but perhaps that will change as soon as we get close enough to scan New Bajor. I got a notification on my console that Commander Skonch just boarded and should be up on the Bridge any moment. You haven't met him yet, he's our Vulcan Science Officer.

The XO looked over his shoulder to the Turbolift and waited to see the Chief Science Officer enter the Bridge. Chase had not seen Skonch since he left to spend some time on Vulcan while Whitestar was under repairs. But now that Skonch had returned, they didn't have to worry about getting a substitute Science Officer to take his place for this mission.

The Commander entered the Bridge from the Turbolift with his hands clasped behind his back as he stoically walked over to the Science Station. Tapping Skonch's access code into the console, the station of his came to life. As the Vulcan Science Officer observed the Command Deck, Cmdr Skonch immediately noticed a large Klingon sitting in the CO's chair, with Cmdr Ashborn in the XO's chair and a young Latino boy sitting in the chair to the Captain's left which was normally used by the ship's Counselor, LtCmdr Ho. Judging by the boy's uniform, he must be the new Yeoman assigned to assist the new Captain of Whitestar. Once his station was fully operational, Mr. Skonch walked over to where the CO, XO and Yeoman were seated and introduced himself to the new Captain and his assistant.

Cmdr Skonch: I am Commander Skonch, Chief Science Officer. You must be our new Commanding Officer and the Ensign must be your Yeoman.

Looking towards Cmdr Ashborn, Mr. Skonch expressed his curiosity regarding the previous Commanding Officer.

Cmdr Skonch: Commander Ashborn, what happened to Captain Zh'Osha? Before I left for Vulcan, she was in command of Whitestar.

The Chief Science Officer waited momentarily for the responses from the Klingon wearing the uniform of a Starfleet Captain with the baldric of his House and the XO he had served with before during the Battle of Sector Epsilon. Since Mr. Skonch left right for his homeworld after the celebration and commendation ceremony, he did not witness anything other than Capt Zh'Osha's typical arrogance of feeling superior to everyone else seated at the Whitestar's Senior Staff table. Since they now had a Klingon in command of the ship, it was a safe assumption that he was also part of the officer exchange program. The Commander always found it fascinating to interact with the different races in the Federation and it's allies, so working with the new CO should prove to be interesting.

The Captain stood up from the center seat and extended his hand in friendship to his Chief Science Officer. Daqtorgh always thought it was fitting to have a Vulcan in that position since they were very proficient in the sciences. To save time, since it was of the essence, the Captain filled Mr. Skonch in on the situation with Capt Zh'Osha so the XO could continue monitoring his console on the arrivals of the other members of the crew.

Capt Daqtorgh: Hello Commander, I am Captain Daqtorgh from House tlhoqlw’ and a member of the Officer Exchange Program. It's a pleasure to work with you, the other Captain had issues with alcohol so Whitestar has become a dry ship unless your off ship and or at a celebration. This is our Yeoman Ensign Luis Garcia. Thank you for reporting in a timely manner, be ready to depart within the hour. Please send report of station readiness to Commander Ashborn.

The CO didn't mean to be so dismissive to Mr. Skonch, but he wanted to be sure they were ready to launch within the hour as he had promised Como Carpathia. Daqtorgh really wanted to show the Division 1 Commander that he could keep his word and get Whitestar out of the Space Doors within an hour's time. The Captain was getting worried about all the people living on New Bajor suddenly being cut off from communicating with SB34. The more Daqtorgh thought about it, the more he became concerned about the cause of the communication blackout. It was why the CO was in such a hurry to depart the Starbase and get underway.

Mr. Skonch nodded to Capt Daqtorgh and without pause for comment, returned to his station and made sure all sensors palettes were completely operational and all probes were accounted for, before sending the report to Cmdr Ashborn that the Science Station was standing by, ready for launch.

Once the report was sent, the Chief Science Officer waited for orders to come his way once they were launched from SB34. The Commander was sure more officers would be on their way up, so it was only a matter of time before the next ones would exit the Turbolift and activated their stations.

The Commander could understand the speediness in the way his greeting with Capt Daqtorgh was handled. The Captain was Klingon after all and they did not adhere to giving their minds over to emotionless logic as the Vulcans did long ago. As for Capt Zh'Osha, Mr. Skonch felt that it was for the best she was replaced as Commanding Officer of Whitestar.

Kyle entered Whitestar for the first time since he had been awaiting its return from Sector Epsilon. The Lieutenant had been studying the Akira Class vessel since he was given the assignment of Chief Security/Tactical Officer when he first arrived on SB34. Now it was finally time to get on with his assigned position. The first place Lt. Wolf went to was the Armory on Deck 15 to make a visual inspection of all the Phaser pistols and rifles in the racks. All were accounted for, so he marked that on his PADD before returning to the Turbolift and taking it to the Command Deck. Upon exiting onto the Bridge, Kyle walked over to the Security/Tactical Station and entered his access pass code and activated his console. Running a systems check on the Phasers and Photon and Plasma Torpedoes, the Lieutenant could see they had a full complement of all the necessary armaments. Once the systems check was complete, Kyle sent his report to the XO, Cmdr Ashborn. Lt. Wolf noticed that Capt Zh’Osha was not in the center chair, nor was Counselor Ho seated to the left. There must’ve been a change of command the Lieutenant was not made aware of. However, Kyle did receive the mission report on his PADD so he knew they were going to New Bajor for a mysterious reason as to why they’ve failed to communicate with SB34. The report was from a Yeoman Luis A. Garcia, so that must be the young boy seated by the Klingon Captain in the center chair. Kyle knew they were in a hurry to get underway, so he figured he would get to introduce himself at the staff meeting once Whitestar was on its way to New Bajor.

LtCol Carrera entered Whitestar in the usual fashion, along with the rest of his Tactical Wing of Marines. Turning back towards MCpt Vansen, he gave her instructions to go to the Flight Deck and check on the SA-43X Hammerheads and make sure they were flight ready.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Vansen, head over to the Flight Deck and check on the Hammerheads and make sure they’re flight ready and properly stored for the trek to New Bajor. We don’t know why they stopped communicating, but it could be for any number of reasons. The Captain may order us to launch in a moment’s notice, or we could spend the mission sitting in our lounge playing out combat scenarios in the flight simulators. I’m heading to the Bridge to log into my station and prepare for Whitestar’s launch, if you need me, that’s where I’ll be.

The Lieutenant Colonel took the Turbolift up to the Bridge and walked over to his console at the rear of the Command Deck and logged in. The monitors of his station sprang to life and he was able to monitor the progress of his Marine pilots as they checked in with their SA-43X’s and made sure all of the ordinance was secured. Once everything was checked in properly and MCpt Vansen informed LtCol Carrera the Hammerheads were ready for the voyage to New Bajor, Rafo sent his report to Cmdr Ashborn and let him know the Marines were ready.

Counselor Ho entered Whitestar on Deck 12 and went up to Deck 4 where she checked in at her office using the terminal on her desk. Kunti sent a message to Cmdr Ashborn informing him of her arrival and that she has officially checked into her office on Deck 4. LtCmdr Ho was about to take a seat up on the Bridge when she got a return message indicating that the vacant seat to the left of the Captain was currently occupied by Yeoman Garcia. This meant Kunti could remain in her office and read up on the new crew members joining Whitestar for this mission. The Counselor saw that there was more than a few, including a new Commanding Officer as well…so LtCmdr Ho sat behind her desk and began reading the medical and psych profiles on each of them.

Dylan entered Whitestar with his best friend, Cole, who was practically his twin, and together they walked to the Turbolift. Taking it up to Deck 1, they arrived on the Bridge and walked down to their stations at the front of the Command Deck. Dylan and Cole both took their seats behind their perspective consoles and logged in to them.

Lt. Thomas: Hey Cole, looks like we made it just in time! My station is ready, how about yours?

The Chief Flight Control Officer sent his status report to Cmdr Ashborn's console so that he knew the Flight Control Station was standing by. Looking around the Bridge, the Lieutenant noticed Capt Zh'Osha was nowhere to be found, but in the center seat was a large Klingon in a Starfleet uniform with a baldric from the Klingon Empire over his right shoulder. It would appear that Zh'Osha got replaced! Dylan was so happy he almost passed gas on the Bridge!

Cole finished logging into his console and watched as all the panels came to life on the Operations Station. Hearing his "twin" ask if his station was ready, the Lieutenant whispered to Lt. Thomas.

Lt. Mitchell: It sure is, Dylan! Who's the Klingon and the little kid dressed like an Ensign?

Once the Chief Operations Officer saw that his station was completely ready and all systems were online, Cole sent a notification to Cmdr Ashborn. It was apparent that Dylan wasn't aware of who the Klingon and the child were either by the way Whitestar's pilot shrugged his shoulders to indicate he didn't know. The Lieutenant was sure they'd find out at the Senior Staff briefing that usually followed an immediate launch.

Jacques walked up to Whitestar through the Gangway and entered through the Docking Port into Deck 12. Knowing that it wasn't necessary to report to the Bridge, the Doctor proceeded to a Turbolift and took it up to Deck 4 where he went down the corridor to Sickbay and from there entered his office. Dr. Tudismaque logged into his desk terminal and let the XO know Sickbay was officially ready for departure. As far as the roster went, Jacques looked it over and everyone had check in. So the Doctor knew they would be leaving very soon.
