The Ensign was happy that his presence was welcomed on the Bridge and thanked both Capt Daqtorgh and Cmdr Ashborn for their kind words.

Ens Garcia: Thank you both for the kind words, Sirs. If I think of anything more to help, I'll be sure to let you know.

The Yeoman sat in the comfortable chair on the Bridge alongside Capt Daqtorgh and Cmdr Ashborn. While Luis sat there he wondered when the team assigned to finding the frequency would discover what they needed so the colonists would know there were ships up here ready to rescue them.

As Skonch continued to make attempts with the frequency modulations from Cmdr Cypher, the Vulcan Science Officer received one from Lt. Mitchell that was earmarked as the one the Lieutenant used to communicate with Explorer when Event Horizon was a great distance away so they could be part of the memorial service for Capt Adonis. Arching an eyebrow, Skonch saw the results of the test and was able to report to Capt Daqtorgh that a frequency had been finally found.

Cmdr Skonch: Captain, a frequency has been isolated and was found to be viable to send a broadcast down into the catacombs below New Rakantha. The transmission will be able to penetrate the thalium and be received by any communication device in their possession. All that needs to be done now is to inform the other vessels in orbit to broadcast the message at One point Twenty-One Gigahertz on subspace frequency Eighty-Eight, Sir.

The Chief Science Officer cross referenced the information to verify its accuracy with Cmdr Cypher and made certain all was copacetic. Judging by the smile on the Chief Engineer’s face, their challenge was now complete. The two of them stood side by side waiting to hear the next order from Capt Daqtorgh. If Skonch had not purged his emotions, the Commander would certainly be feeling a sense of pride with their accomplishment. Along with the submission from Lt. Mitchell making the frequency modulation a discoverable factor, the Vulcan would feel pride in the Chief Operations Officer too.

Daqtorgh was absolutely pleased the frequency modulation had been found, now the rescue of the colonists could begin.

Capt Daqtorgh: Mr. Mitchell, I'm proud to give this order, please open a hailing frequency to all ships in orbit and have them start blasting New Bajor's caves, tunnels and caverns with the broadcast at the fore mentioned subspace frequency and number of gigahertz! Make the broadcast on a loop of every 12 seconds.

The Captain tapped his Combadge to contact the Chief Medical Officer down in Sickbay and the Transporter Chief, which were both on Deck 4.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Dr. Tudismaque! Have a medical team waiting in the Transporter Room for the arrival of injured survivors! Transporter Room, standby to beam up the refugees. Daqtorgh out.

Daqtorgh tapped his Combadge again, but this time to contact LtCol Carrera.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Lieutenant Colonel Carrera! Be ready to launch the Wildcards into a low synchronous orbit when Infiniti's Marines launch!

Using the panel on the arm of his chair, the CO addressed the entire crew of Whitestar.

Capt Daqtorgh: Attention crew of USS Whitestar! This is your Captain speaking, we are about to take on a lot more people so for your knowledge and safety I make this broadcast. Great work crew, now the real mission begins!

Now that the CO gave his orders, Daqtorgh waited for them to be carried out. The Captain looked over at the Yeoman and could see the excitement behind the young boy's eyes. This had to be a thrilling moment for the Ensign, to be an integral part of a rescue mission to save a lot of people from absolute damnation. The Klingon Captain felt his crew was most certainly acting honorably and he was very proud of them.

The Lieutenant did as the Captain ordered and sent the message to Explorer, Infiniti, Oriskany and Sutherland of the frequency information needed for the broadcast. Cole also informed the other vessels in Gamma Fleet they were to loop the transmission in 12 second intervals. Once Lt. Mitchell was finished, he informed Capt Daqtorgh the task was complete.

Lt. Mitchell: I've sent the message to all the Starships in orbit, Captain. We should begin commencing the transmitting as soon as they acknowledge they're ready to broadcast at full power. As for Whitestar, we're ready now, Sir.

The Chief Operations Officer had channeled all available power into the Communications Array, while speaking to the CO, so the broadcast would have all the power it needed to go straight through the thalium laced walls of the underworld below the surface of New Rakantha. Cole was very happy his idea to use the intense frequency to transmit to Explorer during the Event Horizon's mission was going to work in this situation.

Sickbay - Deck 4  Reply with quote

While the Doctor was admiring how ready Sickbay was to receive refugees from the planet surface, Jacques heard the voice of the Captain calling from the Bridge. Moving quickly, Dr. Tudismaque grabbed a trauma kit and Medical Tricorder and tapped his Combadge to respond to Capt Daqtorgh.

Lt. Tudismaque: Aye, Captain! I'm taking a medical team with me to Transporter Room 1 here on Deck 4! Leaving now, Sir!

The Chief Medical Officer summoned the team of medics he had under his direction and indicated for them to follow the Doctor to the Transporter Room. Leaving Sickbay, they moved without haste down the corridors of Deck 4 until they reached Transporter Room 1 and entered.

Lt. Tudismaque: Chief, we're here under the orders of Captain Daqtorgh! Refugees will be beaming up and we need to be here for anyone in need of immediate triage!

It was only a matter of moments after the Transporter Chief heard the Captain calling down to inform him to standby to beam up the colonists from New Bajor when Dr. Tudismaque and his team of medics arrived. The Chief tapped his Combadge and informed the Bridge that he was ready.

CPO Gallagher: Transporter Room 1 to Bridge, Chief Petty Officer Gallagher here! Standing by to beam up refugees! Dr. Tudismaque and his team of medics are already here, waiting to treat anyone who comes up needing medical attention! If there's anything further, please let us know!

The Chief Petty Officer left the channel open to the Bridge for when there were refugees ready to beam up to Whitestar. That way all the Captain had to do was inform CPO Gallagher to beam up the colonists and the Transporter Chief could start the process of transporting them aboard to safety.

Pre-Flight Deck - Deck 10  Reply with quote

As LtCol Carrera was working with the Flight Crew on removing the plasma pulsar weapons from the fronts of the Hammerheads and replacing them with the 60mm armor piercing caseless round firing machine guns, he heard Capt Daqtorgh from the Bridge calling down to him to say to have the Wildcards ready to launch into a low synchronous orbit to provide air cover for the Marines launching from Infiniti. Rafo did not want to rush the job with the weapon exchange on the SA-43X’s so he informed the Captain they still needed some time before they would be ready to launch, but LtCol Carrera would inform the pilots to get ready immediately. Tapping his Combadge, he responded to Capt Daqtorgh.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Carrera to Captain Daqtorgh! We’re still exchanging the armament on the Hammerheads to projectile weapons and we cannot afford to rush it or we could have misfires. I’m going to alert the Wildcards to get launch ready immediately, Captain. Therefore they’ll be ready to go as soon as all the machine guns are mounted, Sir.

The Marine Detachment Wing Commander used his PADD to send an Emergency Action Message to the 58th Squadron, who was in their recreation room, to get launch ready immediately! This way they would get into their flight suits and over to the Pre-Flight Deck where they would board their crafts and wait for the green light to launch into space where they could follow Infiniti’s Marines down to the surface. Making it possible for the Wildcards to provide adequate air support for the Squad from the Commodore's Intrepid Class vessel and the colonists trying to get off New Bajor alive.

The Captain stood in front of Main Viewscreen and looked over at Lt. Mitchell's console and could see that all of the Starships had sent a confirmation that they were ready to broadcast the transmission. The CO then asked the Lieutenant to open a hailing frequency to all the ships in the fleet. That way Daqtorgh could address all the Ops Officers aboard their vessels at one time.

Capt Daqtorgh: Attention all Ops Officers this is Captain Daqtorgh aboard Whitestar, on my mark commence broadcasting the message. 1-2-3 Mark.

Daqtorgh looked over at Cmdr Ashborn and continued speaking...

Capt Daqtorgh: Commander Ashborn, I would appreciate you overseeing the taking on of refugees and re-housing them aboard. Take any personnel you need.

The Captain tapped his Combadge and called down to LtCol Carrera on the Pre-Flight Deck on Deck 10 to inform him to take the time he needed.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Lieutenant Colonel Carrera, take the time you need to refit the Hammerheads and then launch the Wildcards when ready.

The CO returned to his chair and waited on his orders to be carried out by his honorable crew. Daqtorgh couldn't be more pleased with the people working under his command. The Captain knew they had been through a lot during the Battle of Sector Epsilon and losing Capt Adonis, but now they were going through this on their second mission together. Daqtorgh couldn't help but to crack a smile on his face as he watched his officers hard at work.

The Commander got up from the XO's chair on the Bridge and thought it best to greet the refugees in person. Before leaving the Command Deck, Chase announced his intentions to Capt Daqtorgh.

Cmdr Ashborn: Aye, Captain. I'm going to head down to the Transporter Room to meet with the refugees in person. I feel I can help them with their temporary housing better if I knew what their needs were personally. Any objections, Sir?

The XO stood before the seated CO and waited to hear if he objected to the Commander leaving the Bridge to oversee the survivors being housed temporarily. Chase figured he would leave Ens Garcia where he was, this way the Yeoman would be at Capt Daqtorgh's disposal if Luis was needed to do anything for the Captain.

Pre-Flight Deck - Deck 10  Reply with quote

As the Marine pilots entered the Pre-Flight Deck, completely dressed in their flight suits, they each ran to their designated Starfighters and climbed up into their cockpits and waited for the armament exchange to be completed. LtCol Carrera was about to address the Wildcards to inform them of their mission, when he heard the call from the Bridge by Capt Daqtorgh, the Lieutenant Colonel tapped his Combadge to respond.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Carrera here, Captain! Armament exchange is moving right along, Wildcards have assembled and will be ready to launch very soon! Upon my arrival on the Bridge, you'll know they're prepped for launch, Sir.

LtCol Carrera continued with the mission parameters and made sure all the members of the 58th Squadron was aware of the importance of the task at hand. In a short amount of time the ground crew had completed their armament exchange and the Hammerheads were ready for launch. Rafo instructed the support personnel to move the SA-43X's to the elevators so they could be moved down to Deck 12, to the Main Shuttlebay and prepare the Starfighters for launch. LtCol Carrera rode with the Hammerhead belonging to MCpt Vansen in the elevator to the Main Flight Deck and supervised the configuration of the SA-43X's for launch. When each of the Hammerheads was properly lined up on the Flight Line, Rafo spoke to the Marine Captain to offer some advise for the situation.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Captain Vansen, keep in mind there's a lot of civilians down there and things may get chaotic if those Xenomorphs begin swarming the area. Take out as many of those things as you guys can. But do your best not to strafe any of the colonists while doing so if things get crazy down there. As soon as Infiniti launches their Marines, you'll escort them down there and then keep eyes on their location. The weather is on the shitty side, so take the necessary precautions. Be careful down there, Captain. There's a lot of risks of collateral damage when engaging those damn things!

The Marine Detachment Wing Commander ran a hand across the side of Vansen's SA-43X and then returned to the Bridge using a Turbolift and walked over to his station where he could give the order to launch the Wildcards. All they were waiting on now was the launch of the Marine ISSCV from Infiniti. Rafo figured it wouldn't be too long, so he remained at his console with his sensor aimed at Infiniti's Shuttlebay. That way LtCol Carrera would know right away when the Marine's all purpose cargo vehicle was deployed.

With the broadcast commencing, Cole reported to the Captain that all the vessels in orbit have complied with his command. That way Capt Daqtorgh would know that his orders were obeyed and Lt. Mitchell would scan the immediate area of the cave for any of the colonists protruding into the open area.

Lt. Mitchell: Captain! Explorer, Infiniti, Oriskany and Sutherland are broadcasting at full power along with us. I'm keeping the scanners on the entrance to the cave network so we'll know right away when they come out and start transmitting to us, Sir.

The Chief Operations Officer waited on the Captain to acknowledge what the Lieutenant had said, that way Capt Daqtorgh would know Lt. Mitchell is being the kind of officer that takes the initiative to get things done quickly and efficiently. It was just the way Cole was hardwired, to try to be ahead of the game and get the solutions a Captain would need in any situation. The Lieutenant hoped the CO saw that quality in his Ops Officer.
