Mission 3 - Delivery to Sector Epsilon  Reply with quote

The Commodore could sense the urgency in the Admiral's order to launch, and quickly alerted the crew the time had come. Hitting the companel beside his chair on the Bridge, he addressed all personnel aboard Infiniti.

Como Carpathia: All hands, this is the Commodore. Prepare for departure. Clear all moorings and retract the Gangway. Infiniti to Space Dock Traffic Control, requesting clearance to the Space Doors. We're powered up and ready to go.

As their clearance came back, EJ gave his Bridge crew their orders.

Como Carpathia: Mr. Delgado, take us to the Space Doors on Maneuvering Thrusters please.

EJ waited on the Chief Flight Control Officer to get them moving towards the large doors that seperated them from vastness of space. As soon as they were cleared from SB34 traffic, the Commodore planned on setting a course straight for Sector Epsilon and going maximum warp the whole way there.

Al?jandro brought the thrusters online and backed Infiniti out of it's berth and rotated the ship on it's axis so the bow was now pointing towards the Space Doors at the end of the flight line.

Lt. Commander Delgado: Aye Commodore, Space Doors it is...

As Infiniti approached the large doors, they began to part and the starfield appeared on the Main Viewer for everyone on the Bridge to see. Using the thrusters, Al?jandro piloted the Intrepid Class vessel out of the Space Dock of SB34 with uncanny grace.

EJ knew how desperate the situation was, and that time was a luxury they did not have, so he raised up from his chair and pointed to the stars on the viewscreen ahead of them.

Como Carpathia: Set a course for Sector Epsilon, Maximum Emergency Speed!

The Commodore knew that Infiniti's maximum speed was Warp 9.99 and that it could only sustain such a speed for no more than 72 hours, but at that speed they would be in Sector Epsilon in just a few hours. So the danger to the ship was minimal.

Como Carpathia: Mr. Trylon, send a message to the Captains of Oriskany and Whitestar. Let them know that help is on the way.

EJ felt a little more relaxed as he walked back to he seat on the Bridge, and sat down, across from Cmdr Calzada. It wouldn't be long at all before all three Starships of Gamma Fleet were together again.

Engineering - Deck 11  Reply with quote

After making his way to Engineering, Little quickly acquainted himself with the ship. As he got the order for Maximum Velocity through on the console, he of course obliged. He was worried about the hull stress, just as any Engineer would be.

Lt. Commander Little: Will the Command Staff never learn that Starships have an inner person?

Lewis wondered along the lines of Picard many years before, and how he used his excuse to try breaking the Warp 10 barrier on numerous occasions. As did Janeway on several occasions, and actually managed it at one point with Tom Paris.

Jamie looked over at the officer that was temporarily taking LtCmdr McLeod's place as Chief Engineer. He obviously didn't know why they were rushing towards Sector Epsilon.

Cmna Florenté: The Commodore wouldn't of asked for Emergency Speed unless it was for an emergency, but we're carrying the weapons needed by the crews of Oriskany and Whitestar to save themselves from certain annihilation.

The Crewman went about his duties to make sure full power was available to the Bridge so that the maximum speed of Infiniti could be reached. It may not be important to LtCmdr Little, but it was very important to Jamie.

Lewis turned to the small young Crewman Apprentice and replied to the statement he made.

Lt. Commander Little : I see, Crewman Florenté. I will do my best as Infiniti's Chief, but I will tell you now, one thing I will not do is place the ship, or it's crew in danger. That's the reason I don't like to use maximum Warp velocity.

Little seemed to be working at double speed than he would do normally. Maximum warp to him, meant that his workload doubled. Checking and rechecking the intermix ratio, the cooler exchange and the hull stress at the very least.

Lt. Commander Little : You never know, Crewman Florenté. I may have this ship better than it was before. Always something to strive for.

The Chief continued working and doing his best to make sure Infiniti was capable of going at the desired speed the Commodore ordered. He didn't want there to be any lives lost on their account of not arriving in time, anymore than Cmna Florenté did.

Aléjandro smiled when he heard the Commodore say that he wanted Emergency Speed, for that meant he would finally be taking Infiniti as fast as it could go! Something that this pilot had been dying to do since he first sat down behind the Flight Ops console.

Lt. Commander Delgado: You got it, Commodore. Emergency Speed.

Once Infiniti cleared the Space Doors and moved away from SB34 at the appropriate velocity, Aléjandro brought up the Impulse Engines to take the ship the rest of the way.

Lt. Commander Delgado:
Initializing Warp Drive, Sir. Engaged!

In a blast of light, Infiniti was gone! The vessel was now moving at it's highest speed, Warp 9.99! It wouldn't be long before they were in Sector Epsilon making their delivery. Aléjandro wondered if they brought enough of those new weapons for everybody? If so, when was he going to get his?

William prepared two messages to send simultaneously to both commanding officers of the Starships they were on their way to deliver the weapons to. As soon Infiniti jumped to warp speed, he sent the messages to Oriskany and Whitestar.

Lt. Trylon: Messages sent, Commodore.

The Lieutenant monitored all of the consoles at the Ops Station and made sure that everything was functioning within specified parameters. William wanted to make sure nothing was going to malfunction on his watch. That was just something he couldn't live with.

The Commodore heard the replies from his Bridge officers and was pleased with what he heard. It wouldn't be long before they would be encountering the Deltaurans once again, but this time having the advantage they needed.

Como Carpathia: Keep us on course, Mr. Delgado. We need to get there as soon as possible.

He looked over and saw Ens DeGrazzio at the Science Station.

Como Carpathia: Mr. DeGrazzio, as soon as we drop out of warp I want you to scan both vessels for the kind of dimensional disturbances the Deltaurans cause. That way we'll get an idea how infested those ships are.

The CO was extremely gratified with all of the excellent work being done by the crew. He was proud that Adm Arayuss and MGen Alderez were aboard his vessel, knowing that the crew of Infiniti was ready to come back out here and defend the Federation from the Deltauran threat.

Jayden quickly sat up in his chair when the Commodore addressed him there on the Bridge. This was his first time ever manning a position on the Bridge of a Starship and he wanted to do everything as perfect as possible.

Ens DeGrazzio: Yes, Commodore. Right away, Sir.

The Ensign immediately began calibrating the sensors at the Science Station to be able to detect the dimensional distortions caused by the Deltaurans. Jayden also brought up the interior layouts of both the Sovereign Class and the Akira Class vessels so he overlay them with the sensor readings.
