Holodeck 1  Reply with quote

Michael was having a good time with Alex in the Holodeck when he heard Cmdr Kee order him to the Bridge. He was disappointed but knew there had to be a reason his presence was needed. Even though Michael had to leave, there was no reason for the game to end for Alex.

Lt. Boffi: Hey Alex, I gotta go to work. Stay here and keep playing, then maybe you can beat my high score!

Smiling at the youngster, Mike left the Holodeck and went to the Bridge as fast as he could. When the Ops Officer arrived, he announced it as he walked over to his station which was vacant.

Lt. Boffi: Here be me!

While the Lieutenant took his seat and activated his console, he wondered why he was ordered to the Bridge so quickly since there didn't appear to be anything wrong. Michael did know it wouldn't be long before either the CO or XO would clue him in onto why he had to leave Alex alone in the Holodeck.

Sean saw Mr. Boffi come off the Turbolift. He had a project in store for him.

Capt Reich: Mr. Boffi, if you would be so kind as to scan those ships for any life signs, I would appreciate it.

The Captain then turned to LtCmdr Little who was still standing on the Bridge.

Capt Reich: Mr. Little, I need you to get in touch with the Chief Engineer from Infiniti or Whitestar, and have them help you do the modifications to the sensors to pick up any Deltaurans that might be lurking about.

Sean kind of thought about things for a second. If those things are on those ships over there, he didn't know what he was going to do about it. If he were to destroy those ships, they could slip back into their realm and wouldn't be affected by us blowing up the vessels.

Mike nodded to acknowledge the Captain's order as he wondered if this had been done already.

Lt. Boffi: Aye, Captain.

The Ops Officer did as Capt Reich ordered and began scanning the abandoned vessels for any lifeforms that may be on them.

Sean had no idea what was going on, but he also wasn't sure if the sensors were going to pick anything up.

Capt Reich James, you know that if it is what I think it is, we're all going to be in a world of hurt. I really hope it's nothing, but only time will tell.

He sat back in his chair while the scans were going.

Capt Reich: Mr. Boffi, could you please hail Infiniti. I need to talk to Admiral Arayuss as soon as time permits. Tell him it's a Code 1 Emergency.

Sean was sure that by using the Code 1, the Admiral would get back to him in a matter of minutes.

While scanning the abandoned vessels, Michael did as the Captain ordered by hailing Infiniti and let them know it was a Code 1 Emergency for Adm Arayuss. He tapped the Companel and opened a channel to the Starship the Admiral was currently abaord.

Lt. Boffi: Oriskany to Infiniti, I've got a Code 1 Emergency transmission for Admiral Arayuss from Captain Reich.

While waiting for a response, the Lieutenant continued scanning all the vessels that were placed a safe distance from the gas giant. So far nothing was detected aboard any of the vessels he scanned, but as soon as something showed up he'd report it to the Captain.

Within a matter of seconds, Adm Arayuss' voice could be heard over the Com channel that was open to Infiniti.

Adm Arayuss: This is Admiral Arayuss, what's going on over there Captain?

Sean knew that he had to talk fast, cause he didn't know what was happening with those ships.

Capt Reich: Admiral, before you arrived, I had towed all those ships out there with the help of Lieutenant Thompson and put them in a neat row in case we were going to do something else with them. They started moving. They are completely powered down, or so I thought. There is definitely something on board those ships to make them move. I need help from your Chief Engineer to modify our sensors to pick up Deltaurans that might be on those ships.

The Captain sat back in his chair, and waited for the Admiral to respond.

With the channel remaining open with Infiniti, the Admiral's reply came straight through to Capt Reich.

Adm Arayuss: Thanks for the heads up, Captain. I'll have Explorer move in closer and scan those ships and if there's any Deltaurans aboard, it's weapons are already modified to destroy them and not harm the vessels at all. We'll have our Engineer get in contact with your's so you can get your sensors modified as well.

On the viewscreen Explorer moved from it's position beside Infiniti and closed the distance between it and the abandoned vessels. After scanning them, the Admiral's ship began firing it's Phasers at the Deltauran targets inside the ships and vaporizing them on contact. It was only a matter of minutes before the threat of Deltaurans was eliminated from all the abandoned ships. Afterwards, Explorer used it's Tractor Beam to move the vessels back into the position Capt Reich had them in earlier.

Adm Arayuss: Captain, you were right. Deltaurans were aboard those vessels and Explorer eliminated them and put the ships back in their positions for you. Explorer is going to continually scan them and make sure the Deltaurans don't return to move them again. So it looks like this problem has been solved for the time being. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, Sean.

Michael felt a great deal of relief that the Admiral's ship was here and could eliminate the Deltaurans aboard the ships they were near. He wondered if they were going to use the vessels as weapons and ram our ships to destroy us all.

Sean sighed with some relief. He knew that something was up on those ships, and the worst has been taken care of for the time being. He didn't know what they were up to over there, but now there is no threat...for the time being. He relayed his thanks to the Admiral.

Capt Reich: Admiral, thanks for your help, and thank Explorer for me too. If there is anything else, I'll make sure to contact you.

With that, the Com channel to the Admiral was closed, and he didn't know what to think. He hit the intra-ship Com frequency to get the senior officers to the Briefing Room for the mission briefing.

Capt Reich: All senior officers report to the Briefing Room immediately.

Afterwards the Captain left his chair, and went to the Briefing Room to get himself settled for the meeting of the senior staff.

Since the Doctor was already on the Bridge, it wasn't necessary for her to secure Sickbay before leaving for the senior staff meeting. She proceeded into the Briefing Room shortly after Capt Reich entered. The Captain was seated at the head of the table, so she took her seat to his immediate left. Dragana could tell Sean was feeling uneasy about calling together his senior staff for the first time and she wanted to comfort him.

Lt. Commander Jovic: You'll do fine, Captain.

She placed her hand upon his for the time being since they were alone for a short amount of time before the next senior officer entered the Briefing Room. When the doors would part, the Doctor would quickly remove her hand so her affection for the Captain wouldn't become evident to any member of the senior staff.

Briefing Room  Reply with quote

Sean took a deep sigh before the others entered. This was his first briefing with his senior staff, and it comes at a time when the Federation could be plunged into a long and costly war with these...these creatures. He smiled at the Doc while putting his other hand on top of her's.

Capt Reich: After this, I'm taking a vacation. A long one...one where no one can find me until my ship is fixed.

The CO knew that reporting to SB34 was going to be next on the agenda...if they made it that long. He sat there with the Doctor while the other senior officers were making their way to the Briefing Room.
