Bridge

Ajay secured the Flight Control Station on the Bridge and made his way to the Briefing Room. Since Lt. Thompson was killed during the evacuation of Oriskany, it made Lt. JG Centares the temporary senior officer representing the ship's Flight Control System.

Lt. JG Centares: I'm reporting for the senior staff meeting in Lieutenant Thompson's place, Captain. I'm really sorry for the loss of your friend, Sir. Lieutenant Thompson was a great Chief Flight Control Officer.

The Lieutenant JG took a seat at the table in the Briefing Room and waited for the other senior officers to arrive to take their seats. Ajay wondered what the main topic of the meeting was going to be, other than repair time estimates.

Sean looked over at Ajay, and kind of smiled at him a little.

Capt Reich: Mr. Centares, I have a surprise waiting for you when the briefing starts.

And with that, he sat back in his chair, awaiting the arrival of the rest of the senior staff.

Michael received the sensor modifications from Lt. Trylon and transferred the data to a PADD. Afterwards he walked over to LtCmdr Little and handed the PADD over to him and smiled as he spoke to the Chief Engineer.

Lt. Boffi: Here's the modifications you'll be needing to modify the ship's sensors so we can detect the Deltaurans. We should also join the others in the Briefing Room, Sir.

Together with LtCmdr Little, they entered the Briefing Room for the senior staff meeting. Taking the empty chairs at the table, they took their seats and waited on the rest to arrive.

Briefing Room

Sean looked around as to who was there, and made note of who was remaining to come in.

Capt Reich: I think we're just waiting on Commander Kee to show up before we can get this going. There's a lot to cover, and definitely not a lot of time to do it in.

With that, he tapped his Combadge.

Capt Reich: Mr. Kee, could you please report to the Briefing Room?

The Captain still had his PADD with what he needed on it, and he was sure by now the sensor modifications were sent from Infiniti, so that could also be brought up in the briefing as well. Sean was sure that there were going to be a lot of questions from people, and he wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page before they got underway with this battle.

James heard the Captain's call for him to report to the Briefing Room and thought it best for Lt. Graham, their new Chief Tac/Sec Officer to accompany him to the briefing since his insight may be useful as well as the information in the meeting could be of importance to the Lieutenant.

Cmdr Kee: Mr. Graham, I believe the Captain would like you to attend the briefing as well.

With Lt. Graham in tow, the XO entered the Briefing Room and took a seat as he waited on the Captain to address them. He looked around at the others seated around the table and smiled. This was the first meeting of the senior staff since the death of Capt Harris, so he wondered how it was going to go.

Briefing Room

Sean looked around the room, and it appeared that everyone was there. He didn't know where to begin, and he still had the PADD he's been carrying around since it was handed to him with the names of the dead from the attack.

Capt Reich: First off, I would like to say that you all are doing a wonderful job. I think I would have lost it if it wasn't for everyone. I'm sorry that I've been making myself scarce lately, but from here on out, I'm going to be around more. I've just had some thinking to do, and I needed some time to get my head on straight.

With that said, he got down to business.

Capt Reich: Next, we received sensor modifications from Infiniti, and we need to get those in place as soon as possible. This way, we can detect any Deltaurans that might be in the area. Admiral Arayuss has told me they commandeered some of the vessels we rescued earlier, but we had no idea what they were going to do with them. I would like Mr. Boffi and Mr. Little to work on that. As soon as you know, I'd like an ETA on how long it would take.

The Captain looked towards the Chief Tac/Sec Officer as he continued.

Capt Reich: Mr. Graham, I would like you to try to use the Phaser modifications that we have on the portable units on our Phaser banks on the ship. I have a feeling that we are going to need those. Also, I would like your team to modify as many handhelds that you can, because I would like all crew members to start carrying one, especially now. Make this your top priority please.

Sean then looked over towards Lt. JG Centares and smiled.

Capt Reich: Mr. Centares, I said when you came in, that I had a surprise for you...and I do. I am promoting you to the rank of full Lieutenant, and making you the Chief Flight Control Officer. I know Paul would be proud to have such a rising officer taking his place, and your the best choice for the job. Congratulations.

With that, he slid a box down the table that held the pip that made him a full Lieutenant. The CO turned to the XO and continued speaking.

Capt Reich: Mr. Kee, I would like you to get estimates on the repairs, then report back to me with them.

Sean now addressed all the officers seated at the table.

Capt Reich: I'm sure as you all know, we are about to go to war, and I would like everything to be in order as soon as possible. They are still working on Whitestar, and as soon as that ship is cleaned and repaired, we are going to go into combat, so I need to have this ship ready. Captain Harris counted on all of you to do your jobs, and I feel the same way. She was more than a commanding officer to me, she was my friend, as were a lot of those who died needless deaths at the hands of these barbarians. If any of you need any help with your assignments, please let me know, and I will be willing to lend a hand wherever I'm needed.

With that, he took a breath, cause he hadn't taken very many.

Capt Reich: Before we adjourn, do any of you have any questions?

The Captain waited until people were able to ask their questions before letting them go to do what they had to do to make the ship ready for this battle.

Michael looked over at LtCmdr Little and smiled before turning back to Capt Reich with his wide grin. It looked obvious to everyone in the Briefing Room that the Lieutenant was eager to take on the assignment.

Lt. Boffi: Don't worry Captain, Commander Little and I can handle this with ease! We already got the modification specifications from Infiniti, I put them on a PADD and gave it to our Chief Engineer so we'll have the sensors modified within the hour.

The Ops Officer continued smiling at the others seated around the table. He was confident with LtCmdr Little working with him they would finish the task quickly and efficiently.

The Chief Engineer looked over at Lt Boffi and smiled before addressing the Captain on the information he needed to share with him. It would appear that Capt Reich forgot what Lewis told him when they met on the Bridge. He figured with the stress the CO was under, it must've slipped his mind.

Lt. Commander Little: I'm confident that Lieutenant Boffi and I can get the sensors modified with the specifications here on the PADD he gave me earlier. Also, while I was in Main Engineering I calibrated the Phasers so they'll be effective against the Deltaurans. So all Lieutenant Graham has to do is calibrate them from the Tactical Station on the Bridge.

Lewis smiled at Capt Reich, hoping he didn't offend his Captain by restating what he told him earlier on the Bridge when they shook hands. But LtCmdr Little wanted to make sure no time was wasted doing something that was already done.

Peter looked over towards LtCmdr Little and nodded with appreciation before he spoke to Capt Reich regarding Oriskany's weapons.

Lt. Graham: I won't have any problems calibrating the weapons from the Tactical Station, Captain. As for the modified Phaser Rifle I got from General Alderez, there were several crates of them aboard Infiniti. It is my belief that it's intended they'll be distributed to our crew as well.

The Lieutenant looked around the Briefing Room at the other officers seated around the table and nodded towards them so the next officer to speak knew Peter was finished addressing Capt Reich.

Ajay was all smiles as he took the box with the gold pip inside that Capt Reich slid down to him. He opened it and took off the black one and replaced it with the gold one from the box, making him now the rank of Lieutenant.

Lt. Centares: Thank you very much, Captain! I'll always do my best to make sure you never regret your decision!

The new Lieutenant put his black pip in the box he took the gold one from and kept it in his hand as he waited out the rest of the senior staff meeting. Ajay had no idea he was going to get promoted, this was a big surprise that he was very happy to receive. He was also aware of the loss the Captain felt over the loss of his friend, Lt. Thompson. It would become one of his objectives to make sure his actions would make Paul proud.
