The Counselor was curious as to why these Orion vessels were without weapons as well. It was very uncommon for any ship run by the Orion Syndicate to be unarmed, from what she read about them.

Lt. Commander Elbrun: Of course I'll help you, Captain. Commander Kee is correct though, the Orions don't register their ships with the Federation so they're all unregistered to us.

Kestra remained seated in her chair and waited for the opportunity to read the Orion Captain. She figured it would be soon since Capt Marino was planning on talking to Capt Narrad-Sar again. The Counselor knew she would be able to assist in finding out what was going on in the Orion's head, given the chance. LtCmdr Elbrun just had to wait.

Using the Long Range Sensors, Michaelangelo checked all the surrounding sectors around Sector Epsilon for an Orion battle fleet, or any fleet for that matter. There was nothing out there at all to report to the Captain. He also began scanning the abandoned Federation vessels to see if there was anything of extreme value that was detectable aboard them which would attract Orions to these ships. While doing that, the Chief Ops Officer received an incoming message from Capt Narrad-Sar, so he informed Capt Marino right away.

Lt. Commander Boffi: Captain, we're being hailed by Captain Narrad-Sar! Should I put him back on screen? He was only on mute and I blanked the image so he couldn't read lips, so the channel is still open.

The Lieutenant Commander waited on the Captain to give the order to put the Orion Captain's image back up on the Main Viewscreen and unmute him. Michaelangelo was very curious to hear what Capt Narrad-Sar had to say in regard to the terms Capt Marino laid out. It was just a hunch, but LtCmdr Boffi didn't think Capt Narrad-Sar would simply comply with the Captain's demand.

Lou remained in his chair to show he was not going to give in to the Orion Captain, no matter what he said. Those were Federation vessels and his job was to secure them until the tow ships arrived and that was what he was going to do.

Capt Marino: Mr. Boffi unmute the Captain and put him back on the screen. Did the scans of the Federation ships pick up anything?

When the Orion's face filled the Viewscreen, the Captain addressed him.

Capt Marino: Captain Narrad-Sar, we will not stand down. This is not open for negotiation.

Lou tapped the Comlink on the arm of his chair to call down to Transporter Room 1 where his Chief Sec/Tac Officer went to assemble with the Security Team on Deck 6.

Capt Marino: Mr. D'Shoua, status!

While waiting to hear from LtCmdr D'Shoua, he looked over at Cmdr Kee and thanked him for clearing up his knowledge on the Orion Syndicate.

Capt Marino: Thank you, Commander, for expanding my knowledge base on the Orion Syndicate. For some reason I thought we had a registry of their ships in service.

The Captain smiled at his XO as he waited hear back from LtCmdr Boffi, Capt Narrad-Sar and LtCmdr D'Shoua. Lou was really hoping the Orion Captain was calling to surrender. They obviously had no weapons so there wouldn't be much of a conflict should they try to resist. In this case, for Capt Narrad-Sar...Resistance was futile.

Before Michaelangelo unmuted Capt Narrad-Sar he informed Capt Marino of the outcome of his Long and Short Range Sensor Scans. After completing his scans, he was bewildered over the results and figured the Captain would also be.

Lt. Commander Boffi: Captain, there is no fleets of any kind in this region of space. If Captain Narrad-Sar has a support fleet, it's well out of range for a rescue to arrive anytime soon. As for the scans on the abandoned vessels, they doesn't appear to be anything missing from their manifests. But all the ones around the Orion ships do have an enclosed case aboard that I cannot scan the contents of. Also, the Orion ships have raised their shields so I don't think Jared and the Security Team will be able to transport over to arrest Captain Narrad-Sar.

The Chief Ops Officer tapped his console and the image of Capt Narrad-Sar appeared and he looked even more furious than he did during the first conversation. After the Captain gave his ultimatum the Orion Captain snarled a response.

Capt Narrad-Sar: Captain Marino, we are on a Holy Mission and your trivial claims of your stance against us will not be tolerated. We are all prepared to die for our cause for it is ordained by God. Are you prepared to die for your narrow minded shortsightedness? Will you kill your crew for your own ego, Captain?

The Orion Captain looked at Capt Marino with a smug look upon his face. It was clear that he had no intention of backing down either. The ball was now in Capt Marino's court. What he did with it was anyone's guess. Michaelangelo just hoped it would be the right one. He had no intention of dying on this mission, and he was sure nobody else on Sutherland had that intention either.

Jared met with his Security Team in the Transporter Room and armed themselves with Assault Phaser Rifles. They were getting ready to beam over when the Transporter Chief told them the target vessel raised it's Shields and how beaming over was not possible at this time. That's when Jared heard Capt Marino ask what his status was.

Lt. Commander D'Shoua: D'Shoua to Bridge! We can't beam over because of their Shields! What would you like us to do, Sir?

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer waited in the Transporter Room, along with the Security Team and discussed tactics on how to apprehend Capt Narrad-Sar and take him into custody. Jared wanted to get that Orion into the Brig for Capt Marino as fast as possible, along with his crew as well if they were going to put up a fight.

The Captain was dumbfounded by what Capt Narrad-Sar had said. A Holy Mission? What could he possible mean by that? Lou never heard of religious Orions in all the recorded dealings with them that he read about at the Academy.

Capt Marino: Mr. Boffi, mute the Captain, again. Thank you for the scan results.

The CO looked at both Cmdr Kee and Counselor Elbrun and spoke to them softly.

Capt Marino: Commander Kee, Counselor Elbrun, please join me in my Ready Room so we can have a discussion.

Lou got up from the Center Chair and told LtCmdr Boffi he had the Bridge.

Capt Marino: Mr. Boffi, you have the Bridge. Inform Mr. D'Shoua to standby and not beam over just yet.

The Captain walked over to his Ready Room to have a discussion with his XO and Counselor. Once Lou entered, he sat behind his desk and waited for Cmdr Kee and LtCmdr Elbrun to take the seats across from him. He was really looking for their insight into their assessment of the situation.

The XO entered the Ready Room with Counselor Elbrun and took a seat on the opposite side of the Captain's desk. This situation was truly abnormal as far as he was concerned, and thought it was a prudent choice on Capt Marino's behalf to have a conference at this time. They needed to work out a new strategy in dealing with Capt Narrad-Sar.

Cmdr Kee: Well this is a first....religious Orions...who knew?

The Commander looked over at the Counselor and inquired about the authenticity of what Capt Narrad-Sar told them.

Cmdr Kee: Kestra, is Narrad-Sar a fraud or is this guy the genuine article?

As James waited on LtCmdr Elbrun to respond, he looked over at Capt Marino to see if there was anything he wanted to add to the conversation. They were truly in new grounds here and the XO felt the Captain needed to know all he could about the situation and all the options currently available.

Kestra was concerned about what was happening. She knew Orions were notoriously nonreligious by nature. But she could sense from Capt Narrad-Sar that his belief in God was genuine and that he was on a Holy Mission to destroy evil in His name. The Counselor had never experienced such devotion to a cause before and told Capt Marino and Cmdr Kee what she was feeling.

Lt. Commander Elbrun: Captain Narrad-Sar’s beliefs are authentic, I’ve never experienced such devotion on religious grounds to a cause before. He feels his cause is genuine and he and his followers must destroy evil in this sector. He’s planning on destroying the abandoned vessels, Captain!

The last part came in right as she sensed it from the Orion Captain. The unknown cases that LtCmdr Boffi scanned aboard those Federation vessels must be high explosives! Since Capt Narrad-Sar’s ships are without weapons, this was the only way they could tactically destroy those abandoned vessels.

Lt. Commander Elbrun: Those cases Michaelangelo detected on the vessels out here contain Matter/Anti-Matter explosives, Sir! They’re in cases designed to avoid detection so whomever they feel is their evil enemy won’t know the explosives are there. Captain Narrad-Sar feels this is the only way to keep evil contained and he’s willing to die to see evil exterminated.

Kestra waited to hear from Capt Marino and Cmdr Kee on her revelations to the both of them. This was truly a trying time for them and she knew they may desire some counseling when this mission was over. The Counselor would make sure to be available to either of them, provided Kestra wasn’t on a mission aboard Infiniti as soon as they returned to SB34.

Lou was aghast at the thought of Orion zealots being out here to destroy evil. He had no idea what evil they were out to destroy. The Captain was not about to let them destroy the abandoned vessels before the tow ships could arrive to bring them back to SB34. The CO solicited the viewpoints of his XO and Counselor.

Capt Marino: Commander Kee? Suggestions, thoughts, ideas? Counselor Elbrun thoughts on how to handle the situation?

The Captain tapped the Companel on his desk and called down to LtCmdr D'Shoua.

Capt Marino: Marino to Mr. D'Shoua, take an engineering team with you to the Federation vessels and look for any unidentified cases, these are explosives that need to be disarmed before the tow ships get here.

Lou sat in his chair behind the desk and waited to hear from Cmdr Kee, LtCmdr Elbrun and LtCmdr D'Shoua. He wondered if he should send a message back to SB34 and speak with Adm Arayuss and bring him up to speed on the situation. The CO decided to wait until he heard back from the XO, Counselor and Jared so he would have a more complete report to offer the Admiral.

The XO was formulating some ideas in his head when he heard the Captain call down to Transporter Room 1 and tell LtCmdr D'Shoua to beam over and disarm the explosive devices aboard the abandoned vessels with a team of Engineers.

Cmdr Kee: Captain! What if those devices have proximity detonators on them? As soon as the Away Teams materializes, it could detonate...killing them instantly! We should really hold off on sending anyone over there and open a dialog with Capt Narrad-Sar and find out exactly who he's trying to destroy that he considers to be evil.

James hoped he stopped the Captain from making an error that would cost the lives of Jared and the entire away team. They really needed to have an open discussion with the Orion Captain to find out what orchestrated his Holy Mission to destroy what he considers to be evil about the abandoned vessels.
