Ready Room - Deck 1  Reply with quote

The CO did not share his Operations Chief's enthusiasm, as he himself had spent many hours on the same problem only to hit a brick wall.

Capt Little: If only enthusiasm was part for part comparable to succession, Mr. Mitchell... Then none of Starfleet's missions would ever fail! But don't worry if you can't find anything at all... Computer, re-establish default security of the Ready Room...

Lewis smiled at Cole, he did not care too much if Cole was unable to find anything. His presence here would still be supportive of the rest of the crew aboard the Event Horizon.

Capt Little: We still have a few hours until we arrive at the pre-configured coordinates, plenty of time to figure if we garner any new information. But, until then, our main goal is still unchanged, it's still just a conglomeration of higher-ups sending orders from behind a desk in complete safety...

The CO indicated towards the Ready Room's doors whilst laughing on the inside of his explanation of Starfleet Admiralty pen-pushers.

Cole thought about how Adm Arayuss was deep in the action of the Deltauran extermination, that he was far from the confines of a desk in complete safety. But it was not his place to contradict his Captain, so the Lieutenant kept his mouth shut about it and just smiled and nodded.

Lt. Mitchell: I'll get back to my station and get to work on it right away, Captain. Thanks for the opportunity to prove myself. I really feel I'll be able to uncover more of the mystery about our mission so you can make the necessary choices with more data available to you. That way you can make a more informed decision, Sir.

The Chief Ops Officer stood up from the seat he was occupying and waited to follow Capt Little back to the Bridge. Cole didn't feel comfortable leading the way, since it was not his place. He was here to follow, not to lead.

The CO smiled and lead Lt. Mitchell from the Ready Room and back on to the Bridge. Lewis looked over at his First Officer as the two of them entered and Cole took his station.

Capt Little: Anything to report, Number One?

The Captain waited on any reply from the Executive Officer.

Thom looked over at Capt Little and smiled as he shook his head to indicate there was nothing to report. The Captain and Lt. Mitchell were not gone that long...

Cmdr Cypher: Nothing, Sir. All is as you left it a short time ago.

The XO looked around the Bridge as if to say SPEAK UP! to all the officers on the Command Deck, for if something had occurred while the Captain was absent this was the time to bring it up.

Seeing that no one spoke up, the Captain looked towards Lt. JG DeGrazzio.

Capt Little: Lieutenant DeGrazzio, coordinate your findings with the Science Laboratory on Deck 4. Perhaps the Professor could lend his thoughts to our situation.

Lewis then turned towards the Chief Flight Control Officer.

Capt Little: Lieutenant Commander Centares, what's our ETA?

The CO awaited the officers' replies as he looked around the Bridge at the others at their stations, working diligently at their tasks.

Jayden did as the Captain ordered and sent a message to the Science Laboratory for Prof Brewer to go over when he arrived there from his VIP Quarters on Deck 1. But the Professor would need to know there was information for him to go over, so he called out to him using his Companel at the Science Station on the Bridge.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Lieutenant DeGrazzio to Professor Brewer! Please report to the Science Laboratory on Deck 4 as soon as possible. I just sent you some information to go over so we can coordinate my findings.

The Lieutenant JG waited to hear back from Prof Brewer that he was on his way to the Science Laboratory on Deck 4. While doing so, Jayden nodded to Capt Little as a way of showing that he was on top of the task put before him. The Chief Science Officer was looking forward to working with the Professor again. They had developed a friendship together since Infiniti's last mission to Sector Epsilon.

As Ajay continued monitoring the in-flight systems of Event Horizon, he glanced at the ETA display on the console and responded to Capt Little after Lt. JG DeGrazzio had called to Prof Brewer.

Lt. Commander Centares: We're looking at 10 hours 53 minutes, Captain! We got ourselves a fast ship, Sir! It would normally take a ship 3 days at Warp 8 to get as far as Sector Omicron.

The Chief Flight Control Officer marveled at the speed of the Nova Class Refit he was assigned to pilot on this mission. Ajay was glad he got the console specifications the night before they left SB34, the controls were somewhat different in comparison to Oriskany's station for Flight Ops.

Lewis chuckled slightly in reply to Ajay.

Capt Little: As Engineers, I'm sure Commander Cypher and I could have gotten that down to 2 days, easily.

The Captain looked around to the Science console as he heard a chirping, indicating the reply from Prof Brewer was on his way to the Science Laboratory.

As soon as Prof Brewer heard about the information Lt. JG DeGrazzio sent to him to read over, concerning his recent findings, Lloyd started on his way to the Science Laboratory on Deck 4. The Professor tapped his Combadge as he headed for the Turbolift.

Prof Brewer: Jayden, I got your message about the information you sent to me. I am on my way to the Science Lab on Deck 4 now and will be there shortly. I am sure you are anxious to discuss all your recent findings. I'd like to meet you there if possible?

Lloyd continued to the Turbolift and entered, taking it to Deck 4 before exiting. While the Professor continued down the corridor, he waited for a reply from Jayden on the Bridge. When Prof Brewer arrived at the Science Laboratory, he immediately indulged in reading the findings Lt. JG DeGrazzio sent for him to go over.

Jayden heard the reply from Prof Brewer and looked over towards Capt Little. It was the Captain's decision whether or not Lt. JG DeGrazzio had permission to leave the Bridge and meet with the Professor in the Science Laboratory.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Permission to leave the Bridge, Captain?

As the Chief Science Officer waited on Capt Little to respond, Jayden kept his hand ready to log out of his console in the event the Captain allowed him to leave the Bridge and head down to the Science Laboratory on Deck 4.
