Bridge - Deck 1

The Lieutenant JG crossed from the rear of the Bridge to where Cmdr Cypher and Prof Brewer were standing. Instead of putting his hand out for the Professor to shake, Jayden proceeded in giving Prof Brewer a warm and genuine hug.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Happy birthday, Professor! I’m so happy to be able to share this day with you! Perhaps we can have some cake?

The Chief Science Officer remained at the Professor’s side, hoping that Cmdr Cypher would allow him to escort Prof Brewer to the VIP Observation Lounge to share in some birthday cake. They were still hours away from where they were going in Sector Omicron, so they certainly had the time to make the Professor’s birthday something special for him.

The XO smiled at what Jayden suggested and thought it was a good idea for the Lieutenant JG to escort the Professor to get some cake to commemorate his 90th birthday. Thom looked around the Bridge to see if there was anybody else that wanted to wish Prof Brewer a happy birthday. He was sure Jayden wouldn’t be the only one…

Cmdr Cypher: I think escorting the Professor to get some birthday cake is a wonderful idea, Jayden. Let the others here on the Bridge wish him a happy birthday before you depart. The VIP Observation Lounge is right here on Deck 1 so you won’t have to go far.

Turning to look at the Professor, the XO continued…

Cmdr Cypher: I hope you don’t mind some well deserved attention, Professor Brewer. We are all honored to have you here on this mission and look forward to working with you further on. Enjoy your cake, Sir!

The Commander waited on the other officers on the Bridge to give their birthday wishes to the Professor before allowing Lt. JG DeGrazzio to escort Prof Brewer to the VIP Observation Lounge. Thom knew it wouldn’t take the Bridge crew long to say what needs to be said to such an extraordinary gentleman.

Ajay turned to face the Professor from where he was seated at the Flight Control Station and walked over and shook man’s hand and wished him a very happy birthday.

Lt. Commander Centares: Happy Birthday, Professor. It’s an honor to have you here on the same mission as I am. I heard about all the magnificent work you did creating the weapons that were used to destroy the Deltaurans and we’re all alive here because of your years of hard work and research. May you enjoy your special time with Jayden and perhaps save me a slice of cake!

The Lieutenant Commander patted Prof Brewer on the shoulder before returning to his seat and resuming his duties as Chief Flight Control Officer. It really wasn’t a hard task at the moment, they were on course and moving at maximum velocity to their destination in Sector Omicron.

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer secured his station before walking over to where Prof Brewer was standing and extended a hand in admiration and friendship. Peter was with the Marines from Infiniti when they boarded Oriskany to rid the infestation of Deltaurans that were on that vessel, so he knew firsthand how well the Modified Phaser Assault Rifles worked against those creatures.

Lt. Commander Graham: Happy Birthday, Professor! I’m so glad I’ve got the opportunity to meet the man responsible for the weapons used to expel the Deltaurans from Oriskany. It’s an honor to be on this voyage with you.

Peter returned to his station and logged back in so he could properly monitor the Cloaking Device, making sure it was constantly re-modulating to keep Event Horizon from being detected by anyone that could be looking to observe its course, speed and general whereabouts. Even though the Dominion was no longer a threat to the Federation and its allies, LtCmdr Graham knew that advertising what they were doing there in the Gamma Quadrant could be interpreted as hostile.

Cole quickly secured the Ops Station and made his way over to where Prof Brewer was standing with Cmdr Cypher and Lt. JG DeGrazzio to shake the Professor’s hand. The Lieutenant was very appreciative of all Prof Brewer’s work on defeating the Deltaurans and just how effective it was.

Lt. Mitchell: Happy birthday, Professor! I’m so thankful for all your work on helping with the defeat of the Deltaurans. Without your research, I don’t think it would’ve been possible and the entire galaxy would be in jeopardy by now.

After the hearty handshake with Prof Brewer, the Chief Operations Officer returned to his station to monitor all of Event Horizon’s systems to make sure the ship was running as efficiently as possible. The Lieutenant also took it upon himself to notify PO3 Florenté about the Professor’s birthday celebration with Lt. JG DeGrazzio in the VIP Observation Lounge. That way if the Chief Engineer had the time, Jamie could stop by and enjoy some cake with his fellow Infiniti crew member.

The Professor was surprised when he got to the Bridge and saw his friends and co-workers there. Lloyd was equally surprised at the rousing Birthday Greetings from all of them. After recovering his wits from the shock, he stood before them to give thanks for their remembrance and thoughtfulness.

Prof Brewer: Thanks to all of you for this surprise and exciting Birthday celebration. I would like to invite all of you to the VIP Observation Lounge for delicious Birthday cake. I'm sure all of us will enjoy that. I'd like to ask everyone to please follow Lieutenant DeGrazzio and I to the Observation Lounge, with Commander Cypher's approval of course.

Lloyd looked over at Cmdr Cypher and smiled, hoping the XO would have no problem allowing the Bridge crew, including himself, to accompany Jayden and the Professor to the VIP Observation Lounge for a short time. The Commander just had to find someone to monitor the Bridge while they were all away enjoying the cake that Jayden would be making for him with a Replicator in the Lounge.

Thom didn’t have to think long about it before responding to the Professor’s invitation for the Bridge crew to join Prof Brewer and Lt. JG DeGrazzio in the VIP Observation Lounge for some birthday cake. The XO didn’t want to leave the Bridge completely unattended, so he tapped his Combadge to notify Yeoman Jo’Kla his presence was needed on the Command Deck.

Cmdr Cypher: Sounds good to me, Professor! Let me get our Yeoman here to watch over things while we go to the Lounge. Cypher to Ensign Jo’Kla! Report to the Bridge immediately!

As the Commander waited on Ens Jo’Kla to report to the Command Deck, he let the others know they could proceed without him while he waited for the Ensign to arrive.

Cmdr Cypher: Jayden, why don’t you escort the Professor to the VIP Lounge, along with Ajay, Peter and Cole. I’ll wait on Jo’Kla to get here and instruct him on what to do in our absence while we enjoy some cake together.

The XO watched as the officers secured their stations and made their way out the exit to the corridor that lead them to the VIP Observation Lounge which was also on Deck 1. Ens Jo’Kla wouldn’t be long and Cmdr Cypher would soon be joining the other officers on the Bridge to enjoy the birthday cake Jayden would be creating with the food Replicator in the Lounge. While Thom waited, he used his PADD to send a message to MCpt Lopez, letting him know about the gathering since he too was from Infiniti. That way Chris could attend if he wished, since Capt Little was surely sound asleep by now.

Yeoman's Quarters - Deck 4

While the Yeoman was in his Quarters on Deck 4, the Klingon officer heard the XO’s voice over the Com System calling him to the Bridge. Jo’Kla tapped his Combadge to respond to Cmdr Cypher and inform him of his status.

Ens Jo’Kla: On my way, Commander!

The Ensign quickly put away his personal PADD that he brought with him that detailed his duties aboard Event Horizon and made his way out of his Quarters and walked quickly to the Turbolift and took it to the Bridge. Upon arrival, the Yeoman exited and found the Command Deck empty except for Cmdr Cypher! This left the large Klingon rather confused, but he figured he would learn soon enough what happened to the other officers that were normally at their stations on the Bridge.

Ens Jo’Kla: I’m here as ordered, Sir!

The Yeoman walked from the Turbolift down to where Cmdr Cypher was standing and awaited the XO’s orders on what was expected of him. Whatever it was, the Ensign was going to do his best to make sure his orders were carried out to the best of his abilities. Even the Captain was nowhere to be seen, so that also had Jo’Kla somewhat bewildered. It was his sincere hope that whatever the case may be, if they had met with their own demise, that they faced death on their feet with their eyes wide open. For that was the honorable way to die, a way every Klingon hoped for themselves.

Bridge - Deck 1

The XO smiled at the Klingon’s promptness as he arrived on the Bridge. Thom began explaining to the Yeoman what his duties would be while the Command Deck would be under the Ensign’s watch. It was nothing too difficult, since the situation would be like it was before when the crew was assembled for the memorial service for Capt Adonis in Holodeck 2.

Cmdr Cypher: Thank you for coming to quickly, Yeoman. What I need you to do is monitor the Bridge from the Ops Station like you did before while we were in Holodeck 2 for Captain Adonis’ memorial service. The Bridge crew and I will be in the VIP Observation Lounge celebrating Professor Brewer’s ninetieth birthday. The Captain is in his Quarters resting, so if he should happen to arrive on the Bridge, just tell him where we are and that he’s invited too. As for the ship, we’re on course for Sector Omicron, moving at a ludicrous speed through the Coaxial Warp Drive. There’s been nothing on the Long Range or Short Range Sensors, so if something shows up, let me know immediately. The Cloaking Device is set to automatically re-modulate every few seconds to keep anyone from locating us, so you don’t have to worry about that too much. So there you go, Mr. Jo’Kla. If you have any questions, now is the time.

The Commander waited on Ens Jo’Kla to ask about anything he needed to know. The Klingon appeared to be quite efficient and adept at his tasks, so Thom knew if the Yeoman had anything to ask, it would be relevant. The Ensign didn’t come off as somebody who would ask anything that would be considered ignorant by anyone.

The Ensign nodded towards Cmdr Cypher, for he completely understood what his duties would be here on the Bridge. Jo’Kla had no questions for the XO so he just thanked the Commander for placing his trust in the Yeoman to be left in charge of the Command Deck while the others were away.

Ens Jo’Kla: Thank you for your trust in me, Commander. I will not fail in my duty to keep everything situated till you all return. Enjoy yourself at the gathering, Sir.

The Yeoman walked over to the Ops Station on the Port side of the Bridge and took a seat and signed into the console. All the displays came to life and he was able to monitor everything from navigation to the status of the Cloaking Device, as well as all the other systems of Event Horizon. From this station, it would be easy for Ens Jo’Kla to keep his eyes on everything going on with the ship as it traveled faster than any vessel in this area of the galaxy.
