Monitoring the Sec/Tac Console, Peter immediately noticed there was an override in progress to shut down the Intra-Ship Com-Net and switch over to Combadges only. LtCmdr Graham looked over at Capt Little and saw him nod in approval, which caused Peter to allow the override to go through.

Lt. Commander Graham: Intra-Ship Com-Net disabled, Captain.

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer continued to monitor his console for any other things that warranted his attention. Peter was still curious to hear what was going on in Cargo Bay 4 on Deck 6. No alarms went off indicating there was an explosion in Main Engineering, so that was always a good sign that things were going well.

The Captain sighed a small sigh of relief now that the internal communications system had been properly deactivated. He turned towards Lt. Mitchell.

Capt Little: Not your fault at all, Mr. Mitchell... The Doctor has had his hands full just as much as the Hack Team does.

The CO tapped his Combadge in order to open up a one-to-one channel to Sickbay.

Capt Little: Captain to Doctor Tudismaque. Apologies on the delay in replying to you... Internal communications were not to be used at this time due to the possibility of detonating the bomb on the Warp Core. You should have received a message in your office confirming this, but not to worry, they've now been deactivated so only the Combadges are available at this time... If Mr. DeGrazzio is feeling up to it, have him report to the Cargo Bay Hack Team. The beacon can wait for the time being. Chief Florenté and the Marine Captain are already there attempting to deactivate it and his presence may expedite that.

Lewis felt that the possibility of a rogue signal intersecting the bomb had now diminished enough that they could all breath a sigh of relief, at least for now... Sending his best people to Cargo Bay 4, he hoped he wasn't just placing all his eggs in one basket...

The Doctor was pleased to hear back from Capt Little, but was so busy monitoring Lt. JG DeGrazzio that he never checked his desk terminal for any messages and felt neglectful about it. Be that as it may, Jacques was happy for the Lieutenant JG being able to return to duty and let the Captain know it.

Lt. JG Tudismaque: Captain, Dr. Tudismaque here. I’m sure the Lieutenant will be more than happy to get down to Cargo Bay 4 and lend a hand with that detonator. He’s been chomping at the bit to get back on duty, so lending a hand down there will thrill him to no end. Sickbay out.

The Chief Medical Officer looked over at the Lieutenant JG and smiled as he spoke.

Lt. JG Tudismaque: Well…you heard the Captain, Jayden. You should swing by your cabin and change into a fresh uniform before heading down to Deck 6 and meeting up with Captain Lopez, Lieutenant Parra, Petty Officer Florenté and Corporal Hudson. You are officially discharged from Sickbay as of this moment.

Dr. Tudismaque patted the Lieutenant JG on the shoulder and helped him off the Biobed with very little effort. Lt. JG DeGrazzio’s tunic and undershirt were removed to allow the Doctor to properly work on his wound. Instead of sending him down the corridor shirtless, Jacques replicated Jayden a robe and discarded the blood covered tunic back into the reclamation setting on the Replicator. Dr. Tudismaque handed the Lieutenant JG the robe with a smile and waited on Jayden to say something before exiting Sickbay.

Feeling nothing but joy at this moment, Jayden took the robe from Dr. Tudismaque and placed it on to cover up his half-naked body. With a returning smile the Lieutenant JG thanked the Doctor for saving his life and for his thoughtfulness in replicating him a robe.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Thank you for saving my life, Doc. I really appreciate the robe too. I owe you, Jacques. Maybe we can have lunch together once we get out of this mess. I’d like to get to know you better. I’m off to get a fresh uniform and get down to Cargo Bay 4. See you later, Doc.

Jayden left Sickbay after a hearty handshake with Dr. Tudismaque and proceeded to the Turbolift and took it to his cabin on Deck 4. Quickly changing into a fresh uniform, Lt. JG DeGrazzio then made his way back to the Turbolift and took it to Deck 6 where he ran down the corridors to Cargo Bay 4. So Jayden wouldn’t startled the Hack Team, he quietly entered the cargo bay and walked over to them.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: The Captain sent me here to assist in any way possible. How can I help?

The Chief Science Officer stood there and waited to be assigned a task by the Hack Team. Jayden was very eager to help in any capacity, no matter what the assignment was going to be. Looking over at the alien PADD LCpl Hudson was hacking, the Lieutenant JG was amazed at the speed the Lance Corporal was trying different access codes in order to gain entry into the PADD’s primary system. Lt. JG DeGrazzio smiled at MCpt Lopez as he listened for whatever the Marine Captain had to say to him.

Seeing Lt. JG DeGrazzio here in Cargo Bay 4 made Chris sigh in relief since he knew how good Jayden was at the Sciences. The Marine Captain let the Lieutenant JG know precisely what he could do to help them with Jo’Kla’s PADD.

MCpt Lopez: Hey Jayden! It’s great to see you up and around! We can really use your help deciphering the glyphs on Jo’Kla’s PADD. None of them are in our database, so Corporal Hudson has been using different codes to try and hack into it so we can shut down the explosive on the Warp Core. We know the glyphs are some form of Klingon but the computer cannot recognize them. Perhaps you can recognize them because I have a feeling we don’t have an infinite amount of attempts before it triggers an explosion.

Placing a hand on LCpl Hudson’s shoulder, the Marine Captain told him to hand the PADD to Lt. JG DeGrazzio for further study.

MCpt Lopez: Corporal, let Lieutenant DeGrazzio study the glyphs on the PADD for a while. We don’t want to use up the amount of failed attempts before it sets off the bomb on the core.

The Lance Corporal stood up from the crouched position he was in and handed Jo’Kla’s PADD over to the Lieutenant JG with a grimace on his face.

LCpl Hudson: Here you go, Lieutenant! Knock yourself out, Sir!

Chris figured it had been a while since he gave a report to the Bridge, so he tapped his Combadge and called out to those up there sitting on pins and needles.

MCpt Lopez: Lopez to Bridge, Lieutenant DeGrazzio has arrived and since we haven’t been able to decipher the Klingon glyphs on the display and they’re not in our database according to Petty Officer Florenté. We’re going to have our Chief Science Officer study them and see if he can decipher what they mean. I don’t believe we’ve got an infinite amount of attempts before it automatically detonates the bomb on the core. So that’s our current status. Lopez out.

The Marine Detachment Commander watched Lt. JG DeGrazzio accept Jo’Kla’s PADD and begin studying the glyphs on the display. Chris knew if anyone aboard could figure out what they meant, it would be Jayden. They worked together aboard Infiniti before on things far more difficult than this, so MCpt Lopez was quite confident in the Lieutenant JG’s abilities.

Examining the Klingon glyphs on Jo’Kla’s PADD, it took Jayden several minutes before he realized he had seen these type of glyphs before. Back when he was a child, his parents took him to Qo’noS on a tour of ancient Klingon temples and artifacts that predated Kahless the Unforgettable! In one of the temples they visited the Lieutenant JG remembered seeing these glyphs on the altar of which was in an ancient dialect not spoken anymore. The translation was In Remembrance of Me to which was a reference to Wa'Joh’a, the first Klingon deity. On the PADD was the same glyphs that was on that altar, so Jayden used the voice inter-phase button on the side of the device and spoke the name of the ancient Klingon god.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Wa'Joh’a.

The PADD made several beeping tones and the screen displayed all of the available selections in the standard Klingon language Jayden knew was in the database. The Lieutenant JG handed the device back to LCpl Hudson with a smile on his face.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Here you go, Corporal. It will work for you now.

The Chief Science Officer could see the expression on MCpt Lopez, 1Lt. Parra, PO3 Florenté and LCpl Hudson’s faces, to which Jayden smiled and replied to the question they all had on their minds.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: The glyphs were from an altar in an ancient temple I saw as a child regarding the first Klingon deity they worshiped. So I figured the PADD’s security was asking who the deity was by name and sure enough, it worked. So…you’re welcome.

Jayden had a beaming smile on his face and was quite pleased that his memory was full of information he had thought was useless, had turned out to help them. The Lieutenant JG watched as LCpl Hudson began accessing the PADD’s features with the help of PO3 Florenté translating the Klingon language from his Tricorder. It was now up to them to disarm the explosive device that was attached to the Warp Core.

Chris was extremely proud of Jayden for unlocking the PADD that was found in Jo’Kla’s cabin. LCpl Hudson seemed to be just as proud of their Science Officer from Infiniti. The Lance Corporal began accessing the internal systems of the PADD to find the one that would deactivate the explosive over on the core while occasionally checking with PO3 Florenté to see if he was going the correct way.

LCpl Hudson: This isn’t going to take us long with your help, Chief!

The Lance Corporal continued working on the PADD with PO3 Florenté translating the standard Klingon language for him. In a matter of moments, LCpl Hudson located the deactivation icon on Jo’Kla’s PADD and got ready to tap the button on the screen.

LCpl Hudson: Captain Lopez, I’m ready to deactivate the bomb on your command Sir.

With a smile his face the Marine Captain responded to Lance Corporal and gave him the order to deactivate the bomb on the Warp Core.

MCpt Lopez: Go for it, Corporal!

The always jovial Lance Corporal tapped the icon on the PADD to deactivate the explosive and was jolted by an electric shock that caused him to drop the device on the Cargo Bay floor.

LCpl Hudson: Oww! Dammit! What the Hell, man!? Why did that happen, Chief?

Looking up at PO3 Florenté for some kind of explanation while rubbing his hands from the pain! There had to be some form of defensive mechanism built into the PADD they didn’t anticipate. The screen was displaying a continuous series of glyphs that may explain what was going on with the device and since the Chief Engineer had his Tricorder set to translate what was being said, they all waited on PO3 Florenté to translate.

Jamie was just as stunned at what happened to LCpl Hudson as everyone else standing around him. The Tricorder in his hand was set to translate whatever was on the PADD’s screen and when the Chief Engineer looked down, it immediately sent a chill down his spine!

PO3 Florenté: Oh my God! It’s a countdown! The bomb is going to blow in 13 seconds and counting!

The Petty Officer tapped his Combadge to call Cwmn Flores down in Main Engineering to warn him of the upcoming detonation.

PO3 Florenté: Florenté to Flores, Aiden get everyone out of Engineering immediately and seal it up! That bomb is going off in 10 seconds! Get out of there now!

Down in Main Engineering, Cwmn Flores heard what the Chief Engineer said and immediately scrambled for the other side of the isolation door and waited a few moments for everyone else to be out of the area before closing the door. With the isolation door closed, the Crewman yelled for everyone to get down on the floor of the corridor outside the Engineering area.

Cwmn Flores: Hit the deck, it’s going to blow any moment!

As the Marines and Engineering Technicians in the area got down on the floor of the corridor, they waited for which felt like an eternity before they heard a loud blast from Main Engineering! The deck trembled from the explosion which was larger than they thought was necessary to detonate the Warp Core. It was such a good call that the core was deactivated and all of the plasma vented out, otherwise Event Horizon would be completely destroyed with all hands lost.

What came as an even bigger surprise was the explosion in the Cargo Bay when the PADD exploded at the same time! The blast blew MCpt Lopez, 1Lt. Parra, Lt. JG DeGrazzio, PO3 Florenté and LCpl Hudson right off their feet along with lacerations and bruises from the shrapnel of the PADD casing. Had any one of them been holding the device in their hands when it detonated, it would’ve been deadly. Jamie sat up and tapped his Combadge to call the Bridge to let them know what happened.

PO3 Florenté: Florenté to Bridge! The PADD was set to detonate the bomb no matter what, Captain! There was no deactivation possible, the PADD itself exploded as well and from the smell in here it had to be ultritium lining the inside. It’s safe to assume the explosive in Engineering was made of the same since it was never detected until it was discovered visually by an inspection team. I’m heading to Main Engineering now to assess the damage! I’ll let you how bad it is, Florenté out!

Picking himself up off the floor of the Cargo Bay, Jamie went over and checked on the others to see how they were doing. Once he saw that all of them were just shaken but not hurt seriously, the Petty Officer told MCpt Lopez where he was going.

PO3 Florenté: Captain, I need to get to Engineering to assess the damage down there and report it to the Bridge. Request permission to head down there ASAP, Sir!

Since the Marine Captain was the senior officer here in Cargo Bay 4, there was no way Jamie was going to just leave without the approval of MCpt Lopez. Lt. JG DeGrazzio was sitting up now, as was 1Lt. Parra and LCpl Hudson who all seemed to be somewhat dazed and confused from the blast. Jamie waited on the Marine Captain to let him get down to where he needed to be to assess the damage to the Warp Core.

The Captain was sitting in silent contemplation as he felt a rather large jostling under his rear end, big enough that it was almost obvious to him what had just happened. He tapped his Combadge ready to open a channel to the Cargo Bay to get a report when the Chief Engineer called the Bridge instead.

Lewis listened intently to PO3 Florenté as he explained the second explosion that occurred as he was 3 centimeters from tapping his Combadge.

Capt Little: Understood Chief, keep me apprised of the situation and don't hesitate if you need two more pairs of hands down there to assist.

The CO looked at his First Officer as he said that before turning towards the Operations and Tactical Consoles respectively.

Capt Little: Get us back online, if anyone detected the explosions, it's safe to assume it won't take them too long to pinpoint our location. Bring internal communications back online and start the boot up sequence for the Main Energizers, I have a feeling this is not the last of our bad luck here.

Lewis looked back towards the Flight Control Console and realized that LtCmdr Centares was still off duty. The Captain clicked his fingers as the epiphany hit him and looked around for someone else on the Bridge that may have any experience with the Helm so as not to interrupt the Chief Flight Control Officer's break.

Capt Little: Any experience with flying guys? Anyone at all, I don't care if it was a shuttle... A shuttle on the Holodeck even, guys?

The Captain waited to hear everyone's replies as he got more and more apprehensive about someone just happening upon a stray radiation ping on their sensors and coming to look for them...

Peter did as the Captain commanded and restored the Intra-Ship Com-Net so everyone aboard Event Horizon could use their Combadges like they would normally. LtCmdr Graham reported his finished tasked to Capt Little, along with an inquiry.

Lt. Commander Graham: Intra-Ship Com-Net restored, Captain! Should I power up the Phasers Sir?

While waiting on the Captain to respond to whether or not he should power up the Phasers, Peter used the targeting scanners to check the immediate area of any vessels approaching. So far nothing appeared on his limited sensors since they were still running off batteries. But nevertheless, LtCmdr Graham kept his hand near the button that would bring the Phaser Arrays up to full power in a matter of seconds.
