Cole was happy to hear that he was able to leave his station on the Bridge and head down to Transporter Room 1 so he could work with PO3 Florenté on modifying the Transporters. The Lieutenant secured his console and made his way towards the Turbolift while telling LtCmdr Centares he was on his way.

Lt. Mitchell: On my way, Sir! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress!

The Chief Operations Officer entered the Turbolift and took it down one level to Deck 2 and exited into the corridor where he made a series of left turns before entering Transporter Room 1. Since the Lieutenant was alone in there, Cole knew that PO3 Florenté hadn’t arrived yet. Being that they were going to be working on the circuitry of the Transporter Enhancers for modification, Lt. Mitchell figured removing the panel covers would save time so he and PO3 Florenté could get right to work.

Main Engineering - Deck 7  Reply with quote

Jamie heard the order from LtCmdr Centares before the communication was closed down between the Bridge and Engineering. The Chief Engineer went over and grabbed his toolkit from the locker to the side of where his station was and let Cwmn Flores know where he was going to be, in case he didn’t hear the temporary CO over the Petty Officer’s Combadge.

PO3 Florenté: I’m off to Transporter Room One, Aiden. If there’s any emergencies down here, that’s where I will be.

With toolkit in hand, the Chief Engineer left Main Engineering and went to the Turbolift which consisted of 2 right turns down the corridor and a left through the lift doors. Taking it up to Deck 2, Jamie was looking forward to working with Lt. Mitchell on modifying the Transporters so they would be able to beam the Away Team back to Event Horizon using their own methods. With the core running and all the systems being back online, they would be able to leave here in a hurry if the need should arise. Once the Turbolift arrived on Deck 2, Jamie walked down the corridor, making 3 lefts, and then entered Transporter Room 1 where he found Lt. Mitchell waiting for him with the panels of the areas they’d be working on already exposed. This was good…

PO3 Florenté: Hello Lieutenant! Thank you for getting the panels removed so we could get right to work. I brought my toolkit along since I knew we were going to need it. First thing we need to do is power down the Enhancers so we don’t get any plasma burns while working in such a confined space.

Jamie reached into his toolkit that he put down by the Transporter Control Console and removed the hydrospanners and began disconnecting the Enhancers after powering them down, that way there would be absolutely no chance of either of them getting any plasma burns from an overload. While the Chief Engineer was busy with the Enhancers, Lt. Mitchell was to begin configuring the isolinear chips to allow the Transporter Arrays to be able to focus the beam further below the surface of the moon. Working together, Lt. Mitchell and PO3 Florenté would have the Transporter modified in a short amount of time.

The Lieutenant worked as fast as he could and as accurately as possible on the configuration of the isolinear chips so the Transporter would be able to lock onto the Away Team from over 1,000 meters under the surface of the moon they had landed on. As Cole was working, he tapped his Combadge to report their progress to LtCmdr Centares.

Lt. Mitchell: Mitchell to Bridge! Petty Officer Florenté and I are working diligently on getting the Transporter modified. So far it’s looking good, Sir! I’ll keep you posted on when we have the ability to beam the Away Team back to the ship. Mitchell out!

Cole went back to work on the isolinear chips making sure each one was in the correct sequence. The last thing Lt. Mitchell wanted to be responsible for was a Transporter Malfunction that kills 3 members of the crew. After a while, the Lieutenant reorganized the entire circuit board and he ran a systems check to make sure all the chips were in the correct configuration for long distance beaming. Seeing that it was, Cole moved onto reprogramming the Bio-Neural Gel Packs with the Engineering Tricorder from PO3 Florenté’s toolkit. This was going to take the Chief Operations Officer some time so Cole started working with the same speed and accuracy he did before on the isolinear chips. As time went on, Lt. Mitchell’s mind wandered a little into wondering what Capt Little, Cmdr Cypher and Lt. JG DeGrazzio were doing right now.

The Captain was busy going through the inordinate amount if information in the huge binder in front of him and really wished he'd had a PADD of some kind with the data embedded instead. After what felt like an hour, Lewis used his right hand to rub the nape of his neck as he looked up to see the images of Floridian America hovering in a holographic image in front of him that was embedded into the posh table.

Capt Little: Is that, Walt Disney World, Mr. Cypher? I've never been to that theme park, we didn't exactly have them where I was growing up you see... But I hear good things about them, I assure you.

The CO well remembered his days on the Terran Commercial Cargo Vessel, SS Amazon, mostly the days when they would have to fend off Orion Pirates and ensure their cargo would reach its destination... Of course, that was before his days of his early acceptance to the Academy. San Francisco was the only area of North America he had previously visited.

Since all the images were downloaded from Event Horizon and the link between the console and the ship was terminated, Thom returned to the table and answered Capt Little as the XO took his seat.

Cmdr Cypher: Indeed it is, Captain. I thought I would show the Inquisitor the area where I am from. What better place to start with than the Magic Kingdom?

As the images moved by at a 15 second per image pace, Thom watched with a saddened heart that he may never get to visit there again. Since Inquisitor Dak’Aar’s people were not even aware that other universes were existing out of a possible theory, the chances of them having the technology that could aid Event Horizon in its return home was remote.

Cmdr Cypher: What do you think of where I’m from, Inquisitor? Doesn’t it look like fun for the whole family?

The Commander waited to hear from Capt Little and Inquisitor Dak’Aar on the questions he asked them. While waiting, the XO looked over at Lt. JG DeGrazzio and wondered how detailed the political map of the galaxy was going to be. Thom figured it was going to be done soon so he waited on that as well. As soon as Jayden could get back to Event Horizon and get to work on the beacon, the better the XO was going to feel about contacting SB34 and seeing if there was a way to get back home.

The Inquisitor was smitten with all of the images that Cmdr Cypher had on display using the holographic emitter in the center of the table. Seeing all of the different races of the Federation together with their families was an amazing sight to see. The Captain still seemed to be buried in the binder so Tollus responded to the Commander since Capt Little appeared to be too busy to respond to his First Officer.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: I have to say, Commander, in all of my life, I have never seen such a delightful place for one to bring their family. I would love to go there someday and see all of these places first hand. If it were possible…

Tollus looked back to the images and could see the smiles on all of the children and thought of his own wife and son that were killed by members of the Emerald Chain when they invaded a Ba’Dassian colony. Inquisitor Dak’Aar was saddened so much by what he remembered of that fateful day. How his family tried to escape the colony and the Inquisitor’s wife and toddler son was murdered right in front of him before he was cast out to live in the pain, suffrage, anguish and despair of witnessing the death of his family.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: I had a family of my own. They were murdered right in front of me and then I was discarded so I could live in the loss of their lives for the rest of mine. I would have loved to of taken them to a place like Orlando. But it was just not meant to be. I dedicated my life protecting the Ba’Dassian Confederacy from any invaders again. Clearly that is not the case with you and your crew. I will assist in any way I can to make it possible for you to get back to your home and your families.

The Ba’Dassian Inquisitor turned and looked towards Lt. JG DeGrazzio and wondered how close he was to completing the galactic map from the universe from which they came. Seeing all the images of the happy families of all the different species of races was starting to give Tollus grief and he longed to see the map instead of the images that were currently projecting on the holographic emitters.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: How are things going with the map, Lieutenant?

Tollus waited for the images of the families deeply engaged in mirth to be replaced by the galactic map of Universe A-01A so he could compare it to how things appeared in Universe C-57D. For the human race to be so technologically advanced and aligned with so many different species meant they long overcame their own differences from which in this universe lead to their own demise. This pleased the Inquisitor and further urged him to do whatever he could to assist Event Horizon and its crew back to their home universe.

Jayden had almost completed the map when he heard the Inquisitor ask about how things were coming along. The Lieutenant JG made the last few additions to the map as he responded to Inquisitor Dak’Aar. The map would be visible for all to see in just a matter of moments.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: It will be coming up on the holographic emitter any moment, Inquisitor. I made the map of the entire galaxy as we know it so far. I hope you find it useful. Here it comes now…

The images of Orlando vanished and in its place was the Milky Way Galaxy in its entire splendor! A large area of the Alpha Quadrant was covered in a blue mass which represented the United Federation of Planets. A much smaller red area represented the Klingon Empire, which was now part of the Federation as well since they became a member. Even the Romulan Republic was represented by a green mass that was around the same size as the Klingon Empire. The other areas of the galaxy showed all the different bodies of governments in a whole different spectrum of colors. The Lieutenant JG was quite proud of himself at all the detail he presented in the map. So much in so, that he asked Cmdr Cypher what he thought of it.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: What do you think of the map, Commander?

The Chief Science Officer waited to hear from the XO on what a great job he did with the galactic map. Jayden really liked hearing from his superior officers when he did well. The Lieutenant JG knew he wasn’t going to get any praise from Capt Little since he was still busy with the First Contact binder. Lt. JG DeGrazzio wasn’t even sure the Captain even looked up to see the map he completely made from memory since he wasn’t able to download it from Event Horizon, like the Commander did with the images of Orlando, Florida.

The Captain did look up at the map, and indeed did marvel at how good it was having been reconstituted entirely from Lt. JG DeGrazzio's memory. But the CO only wished for more technology, the binder was starting to aggregate his already severe migraine. So it was at this point he closed it with a rather large thud, slid it away from him and stood up to move towards the map.

Lewis marveled at how even the smallest detail of the smallest Starbase was entrancing the colors of each faction and wondered just how Lt. JG DeGrazzio could remember such vivid details of the entire galaxy.

Capt Little: Very well done, Lieutenant! You even got the number of exterior windows correct on Starbase 34 as far as I can count all the tiny twinkling lights.

The CO pointed out the location of the Starbase within the Gamma Quadrant of the map, and as he pointed towards it, it seemed to gravitate towards his touch and immediately magnified that section.

Capt Little: That's our home base, our home away from Earth, Inquisitor. Can this thing extrapolate as to the interiors now that Lieutenant DeGrazzio has input all the necessary data? The Galleria on the upper levels is quite something to marvel at... There's a little Klingon restaurant there that serves the most perfect simulated Wistan Gagh, I'm sure you'd enjoy it as much as I do.

The Captain had a beaming smile as he looked towards his Science Officer, he gave a small wink to show his appreciation as to the amount of hard work he knew he had put into everything on the display.

The Lieutenant JG was surprised when Capt Little closed the binder and spoke up to show appreciation for the hard work Jayden had done on the galactic map. The Science Officer really didn’t expect to hear anything about it from the Captain, so he was deeply honored by his words.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Thank you, Captain! I really appreciate your kind words. I didn’t anticipate an interior layout of Starbase 34 when I was making the map, but I did do it anyways just in case! I’ll bring that up for you right now and show the Galleria area where you can see the Klingon restaurant.

Jayden did as the Captain asked and zoomed in on the interior section of SB34 where the Galleria was, specifically the location of Capt Little’s restaurant of choice. Because the Galleria was circular, the Lieutenant JG had the image rotate so it would allow the entire deck to be visible to all those seated at the table where the holographic emitters were projecting the image above them. When the Klingon establishment came into view, Lt. JG DeGrazzio outlined the location with a bright red oval for all to see.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: There you go, Sir! The Klingon restaurant where you get your Wistan Gagh is highlighted in the red oval for you, Captain!

The Chief Science Officer smiled at the CO and once again was proud of himself for his foresightedness in recreating the interior designs of SB34, especially the details of the Galleria that he remembered from the interior maps at strategic locations throughout the base’s main area for commerce. Jayden still hadn’t heard from Cmdr Cypher yet and looked forward to hearing from the XO as well. The Lieutenant JG also hoped the Inquisitor was enjoying the galactic map with the window opened to the interior of SB34 for him to see as well.

Thom was startled when Capt Little closed the binder with a loud thud, indicating that he was tired of reading through it. The XO heard the compliments the CO gave Lt. JG DeGrazzio and that brought a smile to his face. All the details the Lieutenant JG put into the map was extremely brilliant, including the interior of SB34’s Galleria. Thom also praised Jayden for his hard work on the detailed presentation on the galactic map.

Cmdr Cypher: Extremely well done, Jayden! I’m so proud of you! You even laid out the details of the Galleria too! I just have to say that I am very impressed with your hard work!

The XO looked over towards Inquisitor Dak’Aar and wondered what he thought of all the detailed work completed by Lt. JG DeGrazzio.

Cmdr Cypher: What do you think of all the detail the Lieutenant put into the map for you, Inquisitor?

The Commander waited to hear what the Inquisitor was going to say in regard to the awesome galactic map and interior schematics of SB34’s Galleria the Lieutenant JG created for all of them to marvel at. It surely was no simple feat for Jayden to have done what he did. Thom was really proud of the Science Officer’s ability to make the map of the galaxy along with the interior of SB34 all from memory. The XO remembered Jayden was also supposed to be working on creating a beacon to notify SB34 of their mission status. As soon as the opportunity presented itself, they needed to send Lt. JG DeGrazzio back to Event Horizon to get to work on making the beacon to inform their home base of their situation.
