Yeoman's Quarters - Deck 2

Luis was looking over all of the information he could find on the Acheron Colony when he heard the chime of his door. Placing the PADD down on his desk, Ens Garcia walked over to the door and opened it to find Counselor Ho standing there with a smile on her face.

Ens Garcia: How can I help you, Counselor?

The Yeoman took a few steps back just in case LtCmdr Ho wanted to enter the boy's cabin. Luis wasn't sure why the Counselor was here, so he just stood there silently and waited for her to state why she was at the Ensign's door. Ens Garcia wondered if it had anything to do with the situation on New Bajor.

The Counselor took a small step inside the doorway of the Yeoman's cabin and informed the Ensign of the Captain's orders for the both of them. Kunti would hold out her arm so the boy could escort her to Deck 4 so they could wait in Sickbay for the wounded to arrive.

Lt. Commander Ho: The Captain has asked us to go to Sickbay and assist Dr. Tudismaque with the wounded survivors as they come in. Some of the patients may be in your age group and they would need a friendly young man like yourself showing them compassion. So if you'll take my arm, you can escort me to Sickbay like the fine young gentleman you are.

Kunti smiled as the boy took her arm and led her to the Turbolift as they proceeded to Deck 4 and exited. Together they walked into Sickbay and could see all the med-techs were busy making the medical center ready for incoming wounded. They found themselves a corner to stand in that was out of the way of all the bustling medics and waved to Dr. Tudismaque so he would know they were there.

Bridge - Deck 1

The Captain made the decision that the only way to get everyone off the colony once they were located was to issue a fleetwide call for emergency assistance. In order to do that, Daqtorgh needed to contact Como Carpathia via a Level 1 Priority Message. The CO looked towards Lt. Mitchell and continued with his train of thought.

Capt Daqtorgh: Mr. Mitchell, send a Level One Priority Message to Commodore Carpathia. The message will be as follows - Fleetwide emergency! Please send all ships to assist for the purpose of dealing with wounded and survivors along with securing of crisis on New Bajor. We have thousands of survivors and possibly wounded plus the probable need to evacuate. Will be going to Red Alert, please send further orders. - Mr. Mitchell, send message and go to Red Alert!

Daqtorgh tapped his Combadge to alert his Chief Engineer next.

Capt Daqtorgh: Captain Daqtorgh to Commander Cypher, make sure Transporters are running at peak efficiency. As soon as the colonists are located, we will attempt to beam as many up as safely as we can.

The CO waited to hear back from Lt. Mitchell that his message was sent and from Cmdr Cypher that Transporters were operating a peak performance. Now it just came down to waiting on orders back from Como Carpathia on what they should do next. Daqtorgh wanted to be ready for whatever his next orders would be, but was cautious not to overstep and do something that could be an error. Right now, waiting was the best thing they could do.

Cole did as Capt Daqtorgh ordered and sent the message to Como Carpathia’s PADD, right before tapping the indicator on his console which brought Whitestar to Red Alert! As soon as the ship went to the indicated alert status, power was allocated to all Phaser and Torpedo systems as well as the Shields. This meant the Transporters would be inoperable while the Shields were activated. The Lieutenant figured the Captain must know what he’s doing by ordering a Red Alert right before he ordered the Transporters be evaluated for peak efficiency.

Lt. Mitchell: Level One Priority Message sent to Commodore Carpathia, Captain! We are at Red Alert, Sir!

The Chief Operations Officer waited for any following orders from the Captain as the CO waited to hear from Cmdr Cypher. Cole was curious what the Chief Engineer would respond with, knowing the Transporters would not be operational while the Shields were active. Red Alert has always meant that the Weapons and Shields were to be immediately activated aboard Starfleet vessels. Perhaps it wasn’t that way on a Klingon Defense Force vessel and Capt Daqtorgh is just confused? Either way, the Lieutenant stayed quiet about it and decided to let Cmdr Cypher be the one to inform the Captain of a possible error.

Main Engineering - Deck 15

Thom heard the Captain ask that the Transporters be given a diagnostics to make sure they were running a their optimum efficiency level, followed by the klaxon for Red Alert being activated! Did Capt Daqtorgh not know the Transporters were not functional when the Shield were up? That seemed to be a really rookie mistake on the CO's part. The Commander tapped his Combadge and responded to the Captain.

Cmdr Cypher: Cypher to Captain Daqtorgh! I cannot test the Transporters to see if they're fully operational while the Shields are active, a Star Cadet could tell you that, Sir.

The Chief Engineer was a little annoyed Capt Daqtorgh made such a silly mistake. Perhaps the Captain should run his ideas passed Ens Garcia first and make sure they're not an egregious error. This was getting even more frightening than the situation on New Bajor! What mistakes were coming up next and would any lives be endangered by them? Only time would reveal Capt Daqtorgh's experience on how to handle this situation.

Bridge - Deck 1

Daqtorgh felt somewhat foolish for issuing the order for a Red Alert without thinking through the ramifications it would have in preventing any use of the Transporters. But it was the Captain’s error and he was going to own it and rescind the decision. All Daqtorgh was thinking about was the safety of his crew and the colonists in New Rakantha. The Klingon had concerns over how the crew would take his future orders, but the Captain knew if he owned his mistake and corrected it, all should go well. After all, this was a Starfleet vessel, not the student body of a Terran public high school.

Capt Daqtorgh: Mr. Mitchell, please cancel Red Alert. Mr. Cypher, as soon as the Shields are lowered, go ahead and test the Transporters efficiency rating. We sent a message to Commodore Carpathia to get reinforcements so take your time.

The Captain turned towards his XO and issued him his orders.

Capt Daqtorgh: Commander Ashborn, since we’ll have help coming as soon as our message is received, I’d like you to coordinate the evacuation of survivors and wounded with the other ships along with Counselor Ho, Dr. Tudismaque and Yeoman Garcia in Sickbay. Our first priority is to help as many colonists as we can, as well as find out what happened down there!

The CO waited on his orders to be followed as he was patiently waiting on a response from Como Carpathia. Daqtorgh hoped when Infiniti arrived, it wouldn’t be coming alone. Since the USS Infiniti was an Intrepid Class, it was considerably smaller than an Akira Class vessel like USS Whitestar. The Captain needed the assistance of every vessel the Commodore could bring with him. Even cargo ships would be of dire help!

Cole was glad to see that Capt Daqtorgh came to his senses and realized raising the Shields was the wrong decision when trying to run a diagnostic on the Transporter's efficiency. Tapping the Red Alert indicator once more, it silenced the klaxon and lowered the Shields and disengaged power to the weapon systems. Once everything was back to normal status, the Lieutenant informed the Captain immediately.

Lt. Mitchell: We're secured from Red Alert, Captain. Transporters should be fully functional now.

The Chief Operations Officer allocated full power to the Transporters, so the Chief Engineer should have all the power he needed to get the system working at full capacity. Cole was also curious to hear what Cmdr Cypher was going to report on the Transporter's efficiency rating. The Lieutenant continued to monitor all of the ship's systems on his console while he waited for anymore orders to come his way.

Main Engineering - Deck 15

Thom heard the Captain retract the Red Alert status and the klaxon stop while he watched the power indicators on his Engineering Console show the Shields were deactivated and power was allocated to the Transporters for a Level 1 Diagnostics. This was pleasing to the Commander as Thom responded to Captain Daqtorgh on the Bridge.

Cmdr Cypher: I'll get to work on the diagnostics for you right away, Captain. It shouldn't take me too long, so you'll have an efficiency rating very soon, Sir.

The Chief Engineer started issuing orders to his Engineering Staff to fan out around the ship to all of the Transporters and begin running tests on them. It would take them a little while to get the results back on his console, so Thom waited patiently for his Engineers to do their assigned tasks. The Commander thought perhaps areas of the Shuttlebays could be used to house the evacuees for the short amount of time it would take to reach SB34. Since Thom thought the idea was worth sharing with the CO and XO, he used the Engineering Console to send a message to the XO's console on the Bridge. That way the Commander could inform Capt Daqtorgh of Thom's idea. If all the room in the Shuttlebays was used, they could probably add an addition 300 evacuees!

Bridge - Deck 1

The Commander listened to all that was being said around the Bridge from Capt Daqtorgh, Lt. Mitchell and the Chief Engineer, Cmdr Cypher down in Engineering. Right before Chase was about to respond to the orders the Captain gave him, a message came across to his console from Thom. Right after the XO read the message, he informed the Captain of it's contents.

Cmdr Ashborn: I'll get right on that, Captain. I received a message from Commander Cypher on my console, he suggests that if we use the areas in the Shuttlebays we could take on another three hundred evacuees, bringing our total to roughly five hundred people. The lower decks will be somewhat full, but it's a relatively short trip back to Starbase 34.

As the XO was speaking to the Captain, another message came through but this time it was directly from the Office of the Commander in Chief! The message read Message received, emergency assistance en route. which meant the highest authority in Gamma Fleet was sending them the help they needed!

Cmdr Ashborn: We just got a message from Admiral Arayuss! He said he's received the message and emergency assistance is en route! This is wonderful news, Sir!

The First Officer was very happy the Admiral responded himself! This meant they would be able to save the people who survived the horrific attack on the colony. They just needed to find the survivors and let them know help was coming and that way their nightmare would be coming to an end. The XO was very pleased with Capt Daqtorgh! Normally, it would be Klingon nature to try and take on this mission alone for the sake of his honor. But the Captain did what a Starfleet Captain would've done and called for emergency assistance! This was the decision of an experienced CO, something he couldn't imagine Capt Zh'Osha ever doing! Chase was ecstatic that Adm Arayuss replaced that drunk!

Daqtorgh acknowledged Cmdr Ashborn as he turned towards his XO to speak to him.

Capt Daqtorgh: We will definitely use part of the Shuttlebays and Flight Decks to house survivors as soon as we find them. This is a great idea!

The Captain tapped his Combadge and called out to Cmdr Cypher down in Main Engineering.

Capt Daqtorgh: Daqtorgh to Commander Cypher! Great idea Thom, were putting it into place immediately. Thanks for the input, Number Three!

When the CO heard the response from the Admiral that assistance was coming, Daqtorgh felt it was a great honor to work with such an honorable person. From the Klingon’s memories, Romulans were never to be trusted, but Daqtorgh would trust Adm Arayuss with his life. In the Captain’s eyes, the Admiral was a truly a warrior filled with honor that would rival any Klingon. Adm Arayuss may be a Romulan/Betazoid Hybrid, but he had the heart of a Klingon!
