Charrothe was extremely happy to hear his brother, Jerdan’s voice over the Com System! Clearing his throat and wiping a joyful tear from his eye, Lt. JG Kaaha addressed his little brother down on the planet surface below.

Lt. JG Kaaha: Jerdan, it’s Charrothe! How are you doing? How are Mom and Dad? Are they there with you? I’m so happy to hear your voice! When I first heard there was a Xenomorph outbreak on New Bajor, I feared the worst!

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer waited to hear his brother’s response over the Com System with his hands clutching the console over the stress the Lieutenant JG was feeling. Charrothe was really worried about his parents now that he knew Jerdan was safe. Lt. JG Kaaha had a tight knit family and they remained together through all the tough aspects of their lives. It was not like his mother and step-father would separate from his brother in conditions like this. When Charrothe left for Starfleet Academy, it was hard on everyone, but it was something he had to do. Perhaps the Prophets guided the Lieutenant JG so he could be here at this very moment to save his family.

Claire listened in for Charrothe’s brother’s response and when it came, the Captain was astonished at the composure of the Lieutenant JG’s younger sibling. Capt Bennet couldn’t help but respect the Bajoran boy in all that he must’ve endured down on the planet below. The Bridge was completely silent as Orte Jerdan responded to Lt. JG Kaaha’s questions.

Orte Jerdan: I’m doing alright. Dad had me lead all the children of the city into the cave system to get away from the creatures. Those things were coming out of everywhere! I don’t know what happened to our parents, Charrothe. Last thing they said to me was that they were going over to the power facility to try and free the colonists that are trapped in the lower levels. After that, I lost contact with them once we got into the underground labyrinth. Since we’ve been out of the caves, I’ve been trying to get a hold of our parents to let them know there are ships in orbit, but I still haven’t heard a word from either Mom or Dad. There may just be too much interference with my Communicator; maybe you can try hailing them? They’ve got their personal Com Devices that we made for them for their anniversary. So use that frequency to see if you can contact them, please!

The CO immediately gave Lt. JG Kaaha a nod of approval to go right ahead and do whatever was necessary to contact his parents. Claire knew firsthand what it was like to lose a family member to the Xenomorphs and wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone. Jerdan was a very brave boy and as soon as this was all over, the Captain would make sure Charrothe’s family was reunited aboard Eureka.

The Lieutenant JG’s heart dropped when he heard his parents were not with Jerdan at this time and that his younger brother had lost contact with them. Looking over at Capt Bennet, Charrothe saw how she approved of him using Eureka’s Com System to try to contact his parents in the power facility. Before doing so, Lt. JG Kaaha informed Jerdan that he was to remain on the channel and to just wait while Charrothe attempted to contact their parents.

Lt. JG Kaaha: Stay on this channel, Jerdan! I’ll try to get a hold of Mom and Dad. Standby…

Putting his brother on HOLD the Lieutenant JG keyed in the frequency of the Com Devices both Charrothe and Jerdan made for them for their 10th Anniversary and then sent a hailing whistle over the channel to get his parents attention before speaking directly.

Lt. JG Kaaha: This is Lieutenant Kaaha Charrothe, Chief Security/Tactical Officer aboard the USS Eureka, calling Orte Chev and Orte Xoya! Please respond!

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer repeated himself several times while pausing just long enough for his parents to respond. After several attempts at trying to reach the Ortes, Charrothe’s eyes began to water. What could he possibly do now? Lt. JG Kaaha didn’t want to switch over to Jerdan and tell the young boy that their parents weren’t responding, so Charrothe left his brother standing by for now. The Lieutenant JG looked over at Capt Bennet with complete loss in his eyes on what to do next. All the young Bajoran man could do was wait on the Captain to suggest a course of action, while Charrothe waited in tortured silence.

The Captain saw the utter loss in Charrothe’s eyes on what to do which gave Claire the idea for Ens Ramius to scan for the Com Devices the Lieutenant JG’s parents had on them. Marko just needed to know the transponder frequency of each device so he knew what to scan for.

Capt Bennet: Charrothe, we can have Marko scan for their transponders, we just need to know the frequency they use so the Ensign has something to scan for.

The CO looked around the Bridge and could see the concern in everyone’s eyes. Claire couldn’t help the way she felt regarding the Xenomorphs, since the loss of her brother, Rane. If Charrothe’s parents were indeed cocooned and already impregnated, but hadn’t given birth to those things, the Captain would order them beamed directly into Sickbay where Dr. Edison could remove the embryos. That’s after the Doctor finished with Capt Sull’s surgery. They hadn’t heard anything from Dr. Edison since he began the treatment of the Captain’s hemorrhagic stroke, so Claire expected to hear something from the Doctor soon.

Charrothe didn't hesitate when the Captain told him to provide the frequency his parents used for the personal Com Devices given to them by their sons. The Lieutenant JG was a little ashamed of himself for not thinking of the idea and suggesting it. Speaking clear for Ens Ramius to hear at the front of the Bridge, Charrothe supplied the frequency information.

Lt. JG Kaaha: Excellent suggestion, Captain! Thank you! Marko, the frequency is one hundred three point nine terahertz! Please find my parents, buddy!

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer waited with baited breath to hear if the Ensign could locate his parents deep inside the power facility. Charrothe really hoped they would be found alive and capable of being transported to Eureka. It all depended on his friend at the Ops Console now! If Ens Ramius located Lt. JG Kaaha's parents, the Lieutenant JG would be forever grateful to Capt Bennet, Cmdr Sladek and his friend, Marko.

Marko did as he was told and immediately scanned the power complex for the transponders using the frequency told to him by Lt. JG Kaaha. As the Ensign scanned the power facility as best he could, there were 2 signals Marko discovered. As soon as the Ensign locked onto their location, he informed Capt Bennet.

Ens Ramius: I found them, Captain! They're alive in the lower levels of the facility. Apparently they're up against a wall down there, affixed in some kind of resin. I'm having some difficulty establishing a Transporter lock on them. If I had access to the reserve power Captain Sull had me store up, I believe I could beam them both up here but it would be a significant drain.

The Chief Operations Officer waited for Capt Bennet to authorize him to gain access to the backup power they stored up when they first arrived. Once Marko got the permission he needed to proceed, the Ensign planned on beaming the parents of Lt. JG Kaaha directly to Sickbay so Dr. Edison could care for them in whatever means necessary. Hopefully by then, the Doctor would've finished his surgical procedure on Capt Sull and be available to assist both Mr. and Mrs. Orte.

Claire realized that Capt Sull’s idea to store up power for an emergency need was absolutely essential to beaming up the parents of Charrothe! Azeri would’ve been extremely thrilled to know her idea made it possible to save Mr. and Mrs. Orte. The Captain immediately gave permission for Marko to access the power from the storage grid and use it to transport Lt. JG Kaaha’s parents out of the power complex on the outskirts of New Rakantha and up to Eureka’s Sickbay where they can be examined by Dr. Edison.

Capt Bennet: Marko, authorization to use the power from the storage grid has been approved! Get Charrothe’s parents to Sickbay as soon as possible! I’ll let the Doctor know he’s got incoming patients! Hopefully they’re not carrying any embryos inside them!

The Captain tapped her Combadge and contacted their Chief Medical Officer who was currently working on Capt Sull’s brain.

Capt Bennet: Bennet to Dr. Edison! We’ve got a pair of incoming patients for you! Lieutenant Kaaha's parents will be beaming directly to Sickbay, check them for embryos as soon as you can! Bennet out!

The CO didn’t need to hear back from Dr. Edison at this point, Claire was waiting on hearing from Marko on the success of the transport of Mr. and Mrs. Orte to Sickbay. Once they were down there, Capt Bennet knew she would get a call from the Doctor on the status of Lt. JG Kaaha’s parents. The Captain was also curious to know what was happening with Capt Sull. At this point, Claire didn’t even know if Azeri was going to survive the hemorrhagic stroke or if she would succumb to her brain injury. Capt Bennet just had to be patient and wait for all the events to unfold as she sat in the CO’s chair on the Bridge.

The Ensign followed the orders of his Captain and made usage of the allocated power in the storage grid to transport Mr. and Mrs. Orte from the city’s energy complex down in the outskirts of New Rakantha and up to the Sickbay of the USS Eureka. The two Bajoran adults dematerialized from the walls they were adhered to and each of them materialized on a Biobed in Sickbay aboard the California Class vessel. The Orte’s were now under the jurisdiction of Dr. Edison, where they could be checked out and have their medical needs attended to.

Ens Ramius: The Orte’s are safely aboard, Captain! There’s not much power left in the storage grid! They were so deep in the complex, I had to use almost every gram of power we had in the grid! But they’re safe and in Sickbay, in the hands of the Doctor now, Ma’am!

The Chief Operations Officer was very happy he was able to beam his friend’s family to safety, but due to the depth they were in the energy complex, Marko was unable to get an accurate scan of their bodies for embryos inside their chest and abdominal cavities. But there in Sickbay, Dr. Edison had the means and the equipment to remove anything a Xenomorph put in their bodies. The Doctor just had to finish working on Capt Sull and find out whether she was going to make it from her stroke. The Ensign was sure it was a project Dr. Edison did not wish to rush.

As the Doctor was feverishly working on Capt Sull’s hemorrhage in her brain, it came to his attention that there was an indicator light blinking on the display on the console beside the patient. If Maxwell read the information correctly, which he always did, this meant there was a presence of Isoboramine in the Captain’s blood stream! But from what Dr. Edison knew about Capt Sull, she was J’Naii and this would indicate that there was a Symbiote inside her! The Doctor called out to Eureka’s computer to display the Captain’s full medical records, whether it be classified or not, for this information was required to save her life.

Cmdr Edison: Computer, display all medical records of Captain Azeri Sull, immediately! This is a medical priority override, Edison-Alpha-One-Three-Tango-Foxtrot-Omega!

After the Doctor gave his name and authorization, the computer displayed ALL of Capt Sull’s medical records on the display for Dr. Edison to see. Even though the Captain was a J’Naii, she was joined with a Trill Symbiote inside her! Maxwell was cautious as he proceeded to heal the ruptured membrane in the cerebrum, careful not to disconnect any of the connections the Symbiote may have made with Azeri’s brain. As the Doctor worked, he wondered why Capt Sull was so mysterious about having a Trill Symbiote inside her. Not supplying her medical records to the Chief Medical Officer when she came aboard was extremely negligent on her part. Maxwell was going to have to have a chat with Capt Bennet about this when the time was allotted. As the Doctor was hard at work saving Capt Sull’s life, he heard the call from the Bridge informing Sickbay that there were two casualties coming up from New Bajor! Looking over towards the Biobeds, Maxwell saw the parents of Lt. JG Kaaha materialize not more than three meters from him. Neither of them appeared to have a Facehugger on them, so that was one good sign. But, Dr. Edison would have to check them over to make sure they didn’t have Xenomorph embryos inside them as well as any injuries they could’ve sustained while down there.

Cmdr Edison: Sickbay to Bridge! Charrothe’s parents have arrived, but I’m still working on Captain Sull! I’ve repaired the ruptured membrane and it’s healing up nicely! But there’s something else you need to see personally! I suggest you come down here as soon as you can! I’m going to check over his parents in a few minutes, right after I finish on Captain Sull!

Once the Chief Medical Officer finished his work on Capt Sull, he scanned the Symbiote and made sure it was still alive and healthy. Scans indicated the separate life form joined within the Captain was doing fine, after some trauma from the hemorrhagic stroke. Keeping his surgical gown in place, Dr. Edison quickly approached the parents of Lt. JG Kaaha and began scanning the two of them for an embryo in their chest or abdominal cavities. Maxwell was not surprised to find them both carrying the young of a Xenomorph inside them! Quickly, the Doctor enacted a Force Field around the two Biobeds to ensure if one of the creatures escaped; it would not find its way into an air shaft or Jefferies Tube and run itself amok inside Eureka. Carefully, the Doctor began the process of removing the embryos as best he could in accordance to the manual written by Dr. Sarrlak of the USS Infiniti. Once the creatures were separated from their hosts, Maxwell placed them inside receptacles where Capt Bennet could decide their fates when she arrived. All in all, Dr. Edison allowed his medical staff to close up the open wounds in the chests of both of Charrothe’s parents and figured he did a good job at saving Capt Sull’s life and the lives of their Chief Sec/Tac Officer’s parents. The Doctor returned to his office where he removed the surgical gown and disposed of it to be recycled into a clean one for the next surgical event whenever it would be.

The Captain was pleased to hear Lt. JG Kaaha’s parents were safely aboard Eureka from Ens Ramius and a very short time later receiving a confirmation from Dr. Edison they were indeed in Sickbay. But what could the Doctor want Claire to see? There was only one way to find out and that was to go down to Sickbay on Deck 8 and see for herself what Dr. Edison had to show her.

Capt Bennet: I’m on my way, Doctor! Bridge out!

Looking over at Cmdr Sladek, the Captain smiled and let him know he had the Bridge while she was away.

Capt Bennet: You’ve got the Bridge, Commander Sladek

Claire rose from the CO’s chair and walked to the Turbolift, but before stepping in; she turned to the Sec/Tac Station and called out to Lt. JG Kaaha.

Capt Bennet: You coming, Charrothe? I’m sure your parents will want to see you.

The CO stepped inside the Turbolift and waited for the Chief Sec/Tac Officer to join her, before they would take the lift down to Deck 8 and proceed to Sickbay. Claire knew Charrothe had to be excited to see his parents, alive and well. They all just needed to wait until his younger sibling could join them aboard Eureka for the whole family to be together. This between the Captain and Cmdr Sladek would be happening in the near future.
