Shuttlebay 1 - Deck 8
|
|
While the Ensign made sure the Shuttlebay was ready for the arrival of the wet children, suddenly Gus heard the sound of a large materialization and sure enough there was a bunch of wet kids standing there on the deck! Their gift from Infiniti had arrived! Tapping his Combadge, the Ensign called to Capt Bennet.
Ens Montoya:
Ensign Montoya to Captain Bennet! There be wet refugees here in Shuttlebay One! I'm willing to bet the other locations have wet children in them too. Since I'm down here in the Shuttlebays on Deck Eight, somebody should go to the Holodecks on Deck Six and the Recreation Area on Deck Nine and greet the kids there and help them change into their robes after getting their wet clothing removed, Ma'am!
The Yeoman quickly distributed towels and robes to change out of for the children to rest comfortably on the cots. There were 10 rows of 10 cots, so that was perfect for the 100 children making use of them. Once the children were settled, Gus went to Shuttlebay 2 to make sure the children there were doing the same. Since the older ones were helping the younger ones change out of their drenched clothes and put the robes on, the Ensign checked in on them to make sure they were all well, like he did in Shuttlebay 1 before coming here. _________________

The Captain nodded to LtCmdr Sull as the Mission Specialist's idea was completely sound. Claire tapped her Combadge and addressed all the new arrivals that were currently on Decks 6, 8, and 9.
Capt Bennet:
This is Captain Bennet speaking! I'd like to welcome all of you aboard the Starship Eureka. You're all safe now from the dangers of the Xenomorphs on the planet below. Those of you in the Shuttlebays are currently being supervised by Ensign Montoya, Lieutenant Commander Sull will be joining you in the Holodecks to assist all of you in that area of the ship. I'll be sending my Executive Officer, Commander Sladek to assist those of you in the Recreation Area.
As Claire thought about it, the children in the Recreation Area would need someone down there while Azeri was dealing with the children in the Holodecks. Looking over towards her XO, Cmdr Sladek, the Captain continued speaking.
Capt Bennet:
Commander Sladek, it would be best for you to go down to the Recreation Area on Deck Nine and help the children get out of their wet clothes and into dry robes. Also make them some warm soup to eat as well. I can tell you, in weather like that, they'll really appreciate it. This way the children down on Deck Nine won't have to wait on Azeri to finish up with the ones on the Holodeck before going down there to assist the children in the Recreation Area. This way there's a senior officer in each area where they're going to be needed.
The CO watched to see if LtCmdr Sull had anything else to add before she left for Deck 6, and assisted the refugees in the Holodecks. While waiting on Azeri, Claire also looked towards Ulric to see if he had anything to add before he left for Deck 9. If either of them had comments or additions, Capt Bennet was ready to address them, if they had nothing to say, Claire would watch as they departed to the lower decks to help the refugees out of their drenched clothing and into dry robes. _________________

Azeri nodded towards Ulric and motioned for him to enter the Turbocar first.
Lt. Commander Sull:
Careful not to scratch the paint on the way out, Captain...
As Cmdr Sladek had now entered the car, Azeri now followed suit, and called for the destination, whilst also tapping her Combadge.
Lt. Commander Sull:
Holodeck One... **whistling** Holodeck Two.
Back in her quarters, Patience's ear propped up slightly and shortly thereafter she strolled out through the door, and headed for the Turbolift at the end of the corridor.
Lt. Commander Sull:
Ask the Replicator for the Rodeo Red Rootin' Tootin' Red Alert Chili, might warm the children through quicker.
The car soon came to a stop at their first destination, and LtCmdr Sull waved Cmdr Sladek goodbye as she exited the car and proceeded along her way to the Holodeck. _________________

Turbolift - Deck 6
|
|
Ulric watched as LtCmdr Sull tapped her Combadge and whistled as she said the numbers of the Holodecks. The Commander was curious why Azeri did that, but before he could ask, LtCmdr Sull made the recommendation for the XO to feed the child refugees the Rodeo Red Rootin' Tootin' Red Alert Chili. Ulric was somewhat unsure if the Mission Specialist was showing a wry sense of humor, or was she serious? Surely chili that hot would burn their sensitive throats and stomach linings. Especially after all they've been through down on New Bajor.
But before the Commander could ask what she meant by what she suggested, the Turbolift doors opened and Azeri waved and exited the car, which continued down to the Recreation Area on Deck 9. Once the Turbolift arrived Cmdr Sladek exited and walked the short distance to the Rec Area that was filled with wet children drying off with towels and putting on the warm robes. As soon as all the refugees noticed the Commander, Ulric spoke up and introduced himself to the kids.
Cmdr Sladek:
Welcome aboard the USS Eureka everyone, I'm Commander Ulric T. Sladek, the First Officer of this California Class Starship. Would you all like some mugs of nice hot soup? If so, I'll use the Replicator to make everyone some. It will help warm you up!
The children who were already in robes came running up to the XO telling him how much soup would be perfect for their stomachs since they hadn't eaten in days. Ulric used the Replicator on the wall to make large mugs of vegetable broth and handled them out to each of the kids who lined up for some warm food. Cmdr Sladek couldn't think on how LtCmdr Sull wanted to give them such hot chili, surely the chili peppers would burn their young, tender throats. Not to mention a possible case of burning diarrhea to boot. _________________

Personal Quarters - Deck 1
|
|
Patience heard the whistling as it came across the speakers that were fitted tot he main cabin of Azeri's quarters and immediately and without forethought, took off out the door to the cabin and down the corridor. She entered the nearest Turbolift and thought of where she wanted to go. The computer beeped and obliged and the car shot off towards Holodeck 2.
Holodeck 1 - Deck 6
Meanwhile, Azeri herself had just entered Holodeck 1 and could see the smiling but shivering faces that were now huddled around a large pile of towels. Each child was patiently standing in line for extras to be handed out by the crewmen that were already there and had set up bunks for the children. LtCmdr Sull turned and called for the Archway, and as soon as it appeared, she began tapping in commands for enough warm meals for all the children to be able to have at least two servings apiece!
Lt. Commander Sull:
Welcome about the USS Eureka, your arrival here is not down to luck, you can, when you have the chance, thank the Intrepid Class vessel you no doubt saw a hundred meters above you when you were planet-side.. Some rather remarkable engineering by her Chief if you ask me... Now, who's hungry? I've replicated you all some Rodeo Red's Rootin' Tootin' Chilli, as I have no idea of each of your dietary requirements, this is all synthetic and without any spices, but it will taste just the same, and I do hope you all enjoy it.
Azeri motioned to the table that had now appeared behind the children with a large metal bowl that was almost as large as the table itself and just as laden. There were an assorted collection of different types of cutlery, some the children found alien in origin. _________________
