Bridge - Deck 1

Ajay did as Capt Calzada had ordered and used the maneuvering thrusters to bring Oriskany to a much more distant orbit above New Bajor. LtCmdr Centares also plotted a return course to SB34, so all the Captain needed to do was issue the command, and Ajay would launch the Sovereign Class vessel to Warp Speed!

Lt. Commander Centares: Aye, Captain! Oriskany is now in a higher orbit and out of the way of the other ships in orbit above the extraction site. Course plotted for Starbase 34, Warp Speed ready at your command, Sir!

The Chief Flight Control Officer was now in waiting for the Captain to respond to what Ajay had informed him of. All LtCmdr Centares had to do what tap the console, and the Warp Engines would engage to take Oriskany back to their Starbase. Depending on the speed selected by Capt Calzada, that would determine how long it would take to reach SB34.

With Oriskany now in a higher orbit, they were out of the way for the ships that would be going down into the atmosphere to beam up the refugees. This pleased David and knew it would please the Admiral as well. Taking the CO's Chair on the Bridge, the Captain spoke aloud to everyone in earshot.

Capt Calzada: Now all we need to do is wait for Admiral Arayuss to give the word that it's time to get back to Starbase 34. Until then, we'll just sit here and relax at our stations.

The CO relaxed in his chair and looked over at Cmdr Kee and wondered how he was doing since the XO had been quiet for so long. The Captain gave his First Officer a nod to say, Say what's on your mind, Commander. David waited to hear from Cmdr Kee on what he may have to add to the current situation on the Bridge and what was happening on the planet below them.

While LtCmdr Boffi was relaxing at the Ops Station, quietly monitoring all Oriskany's systems, along came a transmission from the USS Explorer. Michaelangelo notified the Captain immediately, then opened the channel to the main speaker system on the Bridge for everyone to hear.

Lt. Commander Boffi: We've got a message coming in from Explorer, Captain! It's Admiral Arayuss!

The entire Bridge went silent so they could all hear what the CinC had to say to them.

Adm Arayuss: This is Admiral Arayuss, I'm heading down to a lower altitude here aboard Explorer to place the Genesis Device where the Xenomorphs cannot meddle with it. I've been looking for an isolated area where there is nothing around and I have located a few prospects. Since the Genesis Wave would be planet wide, I can even choose a location in the polar regions. Be that as it may, this is the news you've all been waiting for...make way for Starbase 34, best possible speed! Arayuss out.

Relieved faces could be seen on everyone on the Bridge, LtCmdr Boffi was displaying one himself, knowing they would be departing for SB34 in a matter of moments. Michaelangelo was thrilled that he wouldn't have to remain in orbit of New Bajor when the Xenomorphs were obliterated by the Genesis Wave. It wasn't exactly a safe place for a Starship to be in an instance like this...

David grinned widely before calling out to the Chief Flight Control Officer seated to the right of LtCmdr Boffi, at the Ops Station on the Bridge. The Captain could hardly contain his excitement as he gave the word to LtCmdr Centares, regarding the immediate course and speed to SB34.

Capt Calzada: Mr. Centares, set a course for Starbase 34, Warp Eight! Hit it!

The CO sat back in his chair and waited on Ajay to follow through with his orders and take Oriskany to Warp 8 on a course for SB34. David remembered what they went through aboard Infiniti when there was a Xenomorph on board and how difficult it was for their Yeoman to blast it out into space. Capt Calzada never wanted to deal with a situation like that again, so he was pleased to be leaving New Bajor with a boatload of children and having them all checked for embryos before they boarded the Sovereign Class Starship.

Ajay did as Capt Calzada commanded and since the course for SB34 was already set, the Lieutenant Commander tapped the buttons to take Oriskany to Warp 8! Now that they were on their way, LtCmdr Centares let the Captain know their ETA to SB34's outer markers.

Lt. Commander Centares: Warp Eight, Captain! ETA to Starbase 34's outer markers in two hours and forty-five minutes, Sir!

Now that the Sovereign Class vessel was swiftly moving towards its destination, Ajay relaxed in his chair at the Flight Control Station. Never in LtCmdr Centares' life had he ever had the opportunity to see a real live Xenomorph, and was relishing in the fact that his record for not seeing one went unbroken.

While Michaelangelo was monitoring his station, he detected an energy wave he had never seen before! It must be being created by the Genesis Device's activation. LtCmdr Boffi immediately scanned for Explorer and found no sign of it. This worried the Lieutenant Commander and he called out to Capt Calzada.

Lt. Commander Boffi: Captain, I believe the Genesis Device is building up to detonate! I've got nothing on the scanners regarding Explorer though! I hope Admiral Arayuss is okay!

The Chief Ops Officer waited to see if Capt Calzada or Cmdr Kee had any insight as to why Explorer was undetectable. LtCmdr Boffi was understandably curious. Michaelangelo tried accessing all the data and materials on Project: Genesis to no avail. There was no technical information about the device in Oriskany's database. The only thing he was able to find was that it was created by Dr. Carol Marcus and her son, Dr. David Marcus back in 2285 at the Regula I space laboratory in orbit over the planet Regula.
